hi thanks schwayne yeah just wondering if there's always room for pud or if there's a plot twist and it turns that on its head because I don't think I can handle it.

      • +9

There's a very exciting plot twist, I refuse to spoil it.

    • +13

How does it compare to the original from 30 years ago?

      • +5

There's a very large foreword about their thoughts on the original and how it was an inspiration for them, as well as how they'd like to express their gratitude to Aunty Donna, also there's a message from Mr. Penguin in there who is really a man.

    • +1

Does it have any swearing in it? Like I can't tell if I can read this to my 2 year old or not

      • +7

There's some fancier words (which a 2 year old won't really care about as it's being read to them) and the most "offensive" thing is Mark calling himself a boofhead.

Some of the imagery can be quite jarring (scary faces and the like), one of the latter pages could be seen as inappropriate for children (custard dripping from several mouths).

Is this some kind of joke book, is pud a euphemism for something?

      • +4

in case this is a serious question and you are actually from Austria, 'pud' is the Aussie shortening of the word 'pudding' and is pronounced 'pood'.

        • +5

Here in Austria "pud" is slang for "penis".

          • @AustriaBargain: To answer your question no, there's no euphemism.

Australian humour is quite often described as iaconic, ironic and irreverent wit, which is "meaningless banter", Aunty Donna takes that form to an extreme level quite often, but the point here is not to dance around an euphemism.

          • @AustriaBargain: Well that is interesting! I always thought the euphemism for pud was that it's a shortening of pudendum meaning: a person's external genitals, especially a woman's. So there ya go.

        • +1

More of a pommy thing to call it pud
