Good price for an 8th Gen.

    • This bloke knows what's up.

  • Battery quality?

    • ~9Hrs, which isn't too impressive by today's standards. You'll also need to factor in degradation, but these batteries are pretty cheap to replace

      • +2

        New battery installed?

  • How would this go playing something like Dota 2?

    • +12

      With Mouse and Keyboard.

    • +2

1080 p everything low. More than playable

      • its going to be super jank on intel igpu with major frame consistency issues, i've tested it on desktop would not recommend if you're competitive. its fine though if you're a fifthly casual

        • Valid point. Integrated RDNA 2 would be the better choice if playing Dota 2 competitively.

Can it charge through usb-c ?

    • -1

7290 and 7390 charge via USB-C, no reason to expect otherwise with this one…

    • +1

my 7490 charges fine from a USB-C power brick (and via a power bank - but only when powered off)

    • +2

Yes, the 7480 introduced USB-C, prior to this the used the proprietary E dock which is why the model range dropped the E after the E7470.

  • How this would compare with a ThinkPad T480s?

    • +3

Latitude 7490 has 2x RAM slots, i.e. the RAM is upgradable. ThinkPad T480s 1 RAM is soldered, 1 upgradable.

        Cheers, thanks for the info

8th gen, good price. Buy buy buy

Good to see some refurb 8th gen deals starting to show up

  • Out of stock already

  • damn sold out

  • For people who purchased, how was the condition of laptop?

    • +1

Looked to be in pretty good condition. Would consider it A grade. Battery 170 cycles but still 95% capacity.
First day of use had issues when I’d pick it up and move it around with it freezing or getting screen GPU artefacts.
Reloaded Windows and haven’t been able to replicate the issue but still suspect a hardware issue.

Pretty great, some mild scuffing on the outside but otherwise nothing to worry about.

I ordered the 4G one and it came without a 4G module but was otherwise exactly as described, not sure what the deal is yet but I've send a query through to the seller.

  • Thanks OP! Saw that they restocked and sold out of i5 immediately. Got the i7 one, probably will still upgrade ram later on. Thanks!

  • Hi OP! Sadly this looks like it is OOS…I saw this at around 10am this morning when it was at 18+ likes…but didnt get around to get my purchase done! Wanted to buy this for a pal who does volunteer work and whose laptop died…

Does anyone know of a comparable deal for a Dell laptop +$50/$75 still ok. TIA! (Also, if you have any idea whether the specs can handle video editing that would be super helpful thank you!)
