    “Best combo keyboard for iPad”

I’d say the Magic Keyboard is better, but yes twice the price.

This is great value never the less

magic keyboard uses magnetic attachment, simply a flat piece of panel with magnet built in. this has a all-around cover that probably provides better protection?

      • +3

Nah, I cracked my Pro 11" screen in this case no probs, simply by knocking it against a desk. The rubber edging provides little to zero additional protection - though I'd rather have it than not.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVED this case. Obviously I'm too clumsy to own one, and I now use an Otterbox.

Great case for grown ups though, and the keyboard is quite nice for what it is.

I bought this only for the “surface style” stand. If people using keyboard very often, go for the magic keyboard

    • Depends. I dislike the Magic Keyboard because it doesn't tilt enough. Combo Touch is also better if you like to use your iPad for illustration while at a desk/table.

      • I recently got the Magic Keyboard. I agree… it doesn’t tilt enough. And I find cramped for space when using the top number rows. But it looks better. Haha.

Damn apple straight up copied logitechs combo touch. That kinda sucks.

    • The Apple one is very good though and solid… and backlit

      • +7

        this is also backlit.

I've been using this for a while, it's good but does add quite a bit of weight to the whole unit.

    • does it feel like typing on a cardboard or does it actually feel like you are typing on a Macbook? I remember typing on the Surface Pro 3 keyboard and it was really bad for me.

      • The key travel is short but does the job well enough for me. Only problem is typing on your lap is a bit wonky.

    • Got one, thank you!

  • love mine

  • Is this worth using over the Magic Keyboard? Anyone tried it? I have the Magic Keyboard but would be good to be able to quickly disconnect the screen from the keyboard.

    EDIT: 12.9" on sale for $179: https://www.amazon.com.au/Logitech-Combo-Touch-Oxford-12-9-i…

    • Being able to disconnect it from the screen is very nice, and you still have the tilt mechanism when you take the keyboard off. Neat tilt mechanism too!

    • Magic keyboard has an independent charge port as well.

I have a magic for the 11” and would be torn. It’s the best keyboard short of a macbook I’ve ever had. I’d be tempted by the money saved but I’d encourage anyone to try to get a hands on at a store somewhere before choosing.

    • Yes, it is better than the Magic Keyboard. The key is the kickstand, which is fantastic for using iPad without the keyboard.

      • +2

Dunno why you got negged. I also loved the kickstand. I also thought the keyboard was pretty good, but I've never tried a magic keyboard, so…

    • How this compare to iPad 11”?

      • Sorry How this compare to iPad 12.9”?

  • Got excited as I thought this one had a row of F keys - but it looks like it does not.

That's my main gripe with the Apple MK.

Love my Apple MK but yeah definitely not worth the price tag imo.

    • +1

Can confirm this one does have a row of Function keys (see pic 5 on Amazon), which was one of my reasons for choosing this over the Apple MK

  • +1

Are these ones compatible with the new generations 2022 models, 11inch and 12 inch? Thanks

    • +1

Physical dimensions are exactly the same, not sure about electrical contacts. If still using the exact same 3 pins, should be compatible.

      • the latest one is 6th gen. Will it be compatible with this keyboard as the description said up to 3rd gen

        • iPad Pro 11, latest 4th gen with M2 coming next week. 3rd gen with M1. This is NOT compatible with iPad or iPad Air or iPad mini.

  • +1

I have this for my iPad Pro 11" and recommend it. Makes it heavier but I appreciate the flexibility of the stand plus a keyboard and trackpad for when I want to type stuff. With the keyboard on, the iPad is completely covered too.

  • Looking at getting one of these, quick question for people who have this case already - when you use it with the keyboard detached, can you fit a Smart Cover or similar?

  • +2

I have this as well. It does add a fair bit of weight and bulk but it's within reason. The one thing I really hate is that my old cheapo no-brand ipad pro case had pencil holder so the pencil doesn't fall out by accident and this does not so.

  • Got it. Don't know why I got it though.

    • Mebbe you wanted a keyboard case for your iPad Pro..?

      • Oh yeah I can give this to my wife. I don't have an iPad.

  • I price match it with JB and use the Amex offer to have another $15 discount

  • Price has changed

  • I bought same price from Ebay and with Ebay Plus discount.

  • I got it today. It's very good quality. My wife is really happy with it.

    • There are 2 varients out at the moment. Did you get the one with + and - shaped volume buttons or with oval volume buttons?

      • Are there any differences in the technical specs between the two versions? I didn't notice the volume control but my wife is absolutely loving every bit of it.

        • Not that I know of, hard to find any info but looks more just a cosmetic update. The older large single speaker hole design has a tendency to stretch and bulge away from the case so I'm assuming they've updated the design to address that issue.

  • For those that bought, which version did you receive? Looks like they've recently tweaked the case design https://imgur.com/a/8q2AJ84
