  • do people don't need those longer bars to accommodate curved monitors or multi monitors setup? having separate bars is annoying.

    • +1

I have a Quntis one and yes, it's long (but still doesn't cover the entire curve of the monitor). Still works perfectly though.

    • It's more about your desk and keyboard being illuminated rather than any interaction with your screen. Apart from being mounted on it.

Once you have had one of these I don't think you can go back imho.

      • desk illumination i get it, which made more sense if you have more of them.
i have one, i use it to reduce glare from the monitors (eye strain). the problem happens when the bar is not wide enough to cover all the viewable screen (multi monitor setup) w/o it getting silly with multiple bars.

i don't need one for the keyboard because i don't look at the keyboard when i type.

Had one of these for a year, honestly a game changer for my eye strain. However i rarely ever use the wireless controller, it just sits on my desk collecting dust

    • never switch it off LOL

      • +3

Its powered by my monitor so when the PC sleeps/shuts down it turns itself off :)

        • +1

So jealous my monitor doesn't have a USB port

      • I have a cheapy wth the older corded style control blutacked to the back edge of the monitor. Barely gets touched. Just on and off with sleep.

Some of the bar touch buttons make for other people pressing hard and dismounting the whole thing unbelievably. They only need a gentle touch.

    • +1

Hey how does it help with eye strain? Do you read paper on your desk or something? Or does it do something else to help with eye strain from staring at the monitor?

      • +1

Short answer is it just does

Longer answer is I think it lowers the transition difference from bright screen to your darker surrounds. If you have printed materials or look at the keyboard when typing definately helps in that regard as well.

        • Thanks for that, I don't look at the kb or have any printed materials (not allowed to print anything) but I definitely get eye strain. Will give it a go.

      • I should have mentioned that behind my monitor I have white LEDs in addition to the light bar. Sounds overkill but honestly like others said it just smooths the transition out and also makes the monitor appear larger than it is. Search bias lighting if you want to read more

        • Thanks, much appreciated.

Is the size enough for 42 inch monitors? (C2)

    • +1

I snagged one and have the 42 C2, With any luck I'll remember and return here to let you know.

        Thanks mate

Seems to work just fine, had to get slightly creative with the mount and sort of tape it in place to the back of the TV because the bezels are so damn thin! I can elaborate or upload pics if you are interested.

Genuinely feels high quality and the wireless on/off and brightness controller is excellent, bonus points since it's USB powered, I can power it from one of the 3 TV USB ports and the cable stays completely hidden.

          Would purchase again.

    • I reckon by the time its spreading beam goes from the top of a C2 to the desk the entire desk would be illuminated.

I use the Kmart one for $9, works like a charm for me
    https://www.kmart.com.au/product/led-monitor-light-43030521/…

    • Does any of the light shine back onto the monitor?

    • +6

Had the Kmart one and comparing to my Baseus, the quality of the illumination is really poor. Light distribution is uneven and it’s less than 50% of the brightness.

It’s probably ok for $9 but don’t expect to be the same

I own one of these , been on for about 10 months straight now, never missed a beat

  • Could I use this to direct light on to my face when needed for video conf? Currently in a bit of a shadow

    • +1

Many designs are geared toward only allowing for a downward direction but some of the rounder barrel ones could be rotated but even then the cable would foul it.

But why would you want to. These things bounce a bit.of light back up off the desk already and direct would be fairly blinding. You would be the best illuminated squinter on the call. I added an Alexa supported dimmable led strip in a fitting behind my desk for video conferencing. Lots of cheap led options on AliExpress and Amazon. Many that clamp to desk and can be turned on for calls. Get some channel with end caps,a frosty diffuser and some depth. If it is wide enough for two strips side by side offset the LEDs to get a smooth solid light. Mine gets loads of use.

      • cheers, will look at those type of options.

  • I like the remote. Reminds me of the Surface Dial.

  • Would this work if I have 2x 34" monitors, one on top of the other? Or given height would it shine in your eyes?

How does this compare against the Quntis?

Quntis Computer Monitor Lamp, 52CM Screen Monitor Light Bar for Eye Caring, e-Reading LED Task Lamp with Auto-Dimming & Stepless Adjustment, Touch Control No Screen Glare Space Saving Home Office Lamp https://amzn.asia/d/hg2Hv0w

Great find! Have been wanting to get one of these for a while, thanks!

  • Works great on my Dell S2721DGF

  • OOS

  • Been using this for at least more than a year. Honestly one of the best purchases I made. Easy to adjust the color temperature with the controller (I use cold light for reading and warm for ambient light). Being able to adjust the brightness in less than a second is so handy as well

  • +1

Cheers OP, picked one up just before they went OOS.

  • I missed out! 🤬

    • Same. There were heaps of deals on these a year ago, and I thought, okay, generally a pretty positive response, I'll get one, and then the deals seemed to stop. Had an alert for this, and by the time I got to it, it was sold out.

  • Ahh this is the seller I made a forum post about. So I guess they are legit??

    • Can confirm. Got what I ordered. They are legit.

    How many lux is this?

I have BenQ screenbar and it's the best, upto 500 lux, but you pay premium price

    • Not at all a helpful comment but the marketing material on the BenQ website for their screenbars is quite funny haha

  • I've got this and pretty happy with it. The wireless controller is pretty reliable - I've had this for months with daily use and maybe only twice have I had to hit the button twice.

You can install a webcap on top of it, though the grip is then a little precarious.

I also found that because the light source is directly above your working area and quite close, that it'll cause glare on any tablet or e-reader that's flat on your desk (in my case, a Ratta Supernote e-writing tablet).
