$10 Cashback on $20+ Purchase with Revolut at Any Petrol Station (First 1500 New Customers Only, up to 3 Claims for $30 Max)

1302

Hi guys. This seems like a pretty good offer. Simply follow the link to activate, then follow the steps to create a free Revolut account and get a virtual card. You can then add the card to your Apple/Google wallet for fuel and/or in-store purchases. Can’t see any catches in the terms, and the Revolut rep will be available to answer questions. Been advised they'll pull the promo once the 1500 new customer cap is reached, so you'll definitely know in advance of signup. Stay safe, and enjoy :)

Full T&Cs of the offer available here.

An Eligible Merchant is a merchant whose merchant category code (“MCC”) is designated as MCC 5541 (being Service Stations).

Hi, Truck-kun! Do you have an existing account with Revolut? If so, you'll receive a push notification saying you're not eligible unfortunately (new customers only for now).

      • +4

This sucks so bad. Why are you rewarding new customers and giving no rewards for existing customers?

        • and also the referral system is not rewarding new customers, then what attract them to try? weird marketing plot - sack your marketing boss

      • questions:

        • how long i need to finish the 3 transactions? up to 3 months?
        • if i sign up today and then tomorrow refer my family member using my refer code, do I still get $80 refer bonus and my family member get the $30 fuel transaction cash back?
  • +2

Still didn't get sign-up promo credit

Read some comments about this company.

    https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/revolut

    I won't use it atm.

    • +3

Seems most neg reviews refer to ID verification
I didnt have such issue and have been using Revolut quite often
The virtual card is great way to spend on international transaction, good rate and secure

      • -7

facing the same on ID proof - photo of license, photo of myself - feeling to sell myself in order of saving $30?!

even after such, it's still on verifying which means it may not pass…

not good starting after heard too many good on this card

EDIT: just got email account deactivated, now I had to give neg review on this company "steal my personal info"

        • +3

You are opening a bank account. You expected that there would be no ID requirements?

I had to give neg review on this company "steal my personal info"

Oh well. Your neg will be removed soon.

        • Hi test888. As cute as ducks mentions below, there are ID requirements to open an account with Revolut. If you have any questions there are some FAQs on our help page: https://help.revolut.com/en-AU/help/sign-up

            @revolutrep: Hey there Rep!

Is there a reason, I randomly get logged out of my trusted device every few weeks, and have to login and take a selfie?
If it was a completely new device, I would understand the extra security precaution.

Also, Apple Pay top ups seem to be broken with most banks. It used to work really well.

If you are interested, there are a whole bunch of other issues and quirks which I can PM you.

      • Thanks for the great feedback, littlesoldier! I use my virtual cards (either via Apple/Google Pay, or the single-use only) nearly every day

        • +1

Revolut is worth it alone for the virtual/disposable cards…. Nobody likes having to add a calendar reminder to cancel crappy subscription services.

      • Reviews are a mixed bag of negative feed backs not just ids related .

      • tried WISE?

    • +2

People who make the effort to write something on product review are usually just disgruntled customers (who aren't all disgruntled for service reasons - some people don't like the app, some could not create an account, some could not get their IDs verified, etc). If someone could not create an account due to their security checks being too strong, I would be OK with that as opposed to it being too lenient.

I've been using this company for a while to do international money transfers, and it's been pretty good with only a couple of issues that were resolved by their customer service.

Their customer service is available only on the chat option within their app, and that sucks big time. However, odds are you won't need support and if you did, they will just sort out your problems (albeit a bit slow).

I would recommend the company 10/10 times and will continue using them.

      • Thank you so much for the great review, CocaKoala!

    • +3

have been using it for years with not a single complaint.

Love their features, love their service.

Had to apply for Credit Card charge backs a few time with their response time being unbelievable short. The card was refunded in less than a week for a charge that was incorrectly done from the terminal/merchant side.

Do not believe this response time is actually possible with the major banks.

      Enjoying it and absolutely happy

      • Thank you, ob1wan! Glad you're enjoying the product

    • +1

I've been using them for a year now, unfortunately they suck.

Freezing or deleting cards doesn't guarantee it will stop a charge, I still get charge attempts from cards that aren't supposed to exist anymore.

I've also gotten attempts for a card that was only provided to Microsoft, for something elsewhere, meaning the recycling of cards is junk.

Customer service is a waste of time, when they had the up to $20 for subscription payment last year, I paid $59 and got back $11.50. Customer service admitted it should have been $20 or nothing in between. It took about 8 weeks extra to get that other $8.50.

Currently wasting the last week or two to get back a payment for a frozen card they admitted I should get back but don't give me a way to do so.

Reading the terms in the referral program, it's designed to deny arbitrarily. They give only the referer the full amount, on assumption they would most likely split it, only to have that as a disqualifyer in the terms.

If the multi card function worked, I'd still be using them, but at the very least don't put any real money in this account.

  • Thanks mate - good deal. It will be interesting to see if my Equifax credit watch subscription (care of Optus' data breach) works and identifies this.

  • Thanks TA, good find :)

  • +1

I created account few days back with valid documents and next day they closed it.

  • +2

is this a good signup bonus or will there be a better one in the future?

    • +2

they usually have between $60 - $150 referral bonus. They once randomly blocked my account and it took them around 10 days to undo it.

  • Has anyone even been able to sign up they just keep asking for all kind proof? It is legit Thanks

    • +2

Since they increase the referral bonus to $150 seems the ID verification become so hard
Was very simple process when I signed up few years ago

    • +1

You may need to jump through a few hoops, it's totally legit.

      • Cool thanks guys will keep trying then

    • Hey WwDesi, the ID checks are part of the onboarding process to open an account. You can find out more info on the FAQ link pasted above (also here: https://help.revolut.com/en-AU/help/sign-up)

  • I didn't get any 'unique' links when I provided my mobile number but just the default link to the app
    https://revolut.com/app

Am I still eligible if I signup now?

  • +1

is this going to trigger a credit check? If so, I'm not bothering

    • +4

      No it wont
its a debit card so you need to load money in
credit check only happened when you are borrowing money (eg. buy now pay later, credit card, loans etc.)

  • "Revolut will credit the cashback amounts into your Revolut account within ten (10) business days of the end of the Promotion Period."

Does this mean you only have a month to make 3 purchases to get the full $30?

    • Hi Gyr, that's right - the promo is live until November 20

  • +6

For those that don't have a car, here's the link from Unidays (make 3x $5 transactions and get $25 bonus) for new customers

  • Do you need a compatible phone to use the virtual card? Need NFC?

    • Hey shoppe, no need for NFC - as long as you can add your card to Apple Wallet or Google Pay, you're good to go

      • You wont be able to use a terminal without nfc i believe i guess you could use it online to pay via petrol station app maybe

        • I can't remember the last time I saw a credit card terminal without NFC

      • Those technologies use Near Field Communication (NFC) so a phone with those technologies has NFC

  • Isn't this just a referral to benefit Cashback (as well as the person signing up)?

    • Hi wfdTamar, this is a promotion seperate to our referral campaigns you may have seen before. This one is designed to reward you for making a purchase, rather than giving the referee some money for onboarding you

      • Ok, so clicking it only benefits the person signing up (and it's only for them, not current Revolut users)?

        • +1

That's right! This is just for you and new users coming from Ozbargain :) No existing users are receiving a bonus for this

          • @revolutrep: Not for me - I'm a Metal plan user already.

            • @wfdTamar: Ah, well in which case you're like me :) Metal plan cashback on card payments is still good though

    • Better to go halves on a normal referral bonus if you happen to know someone who is already a member (the bonus is $150 per referral in my account, but I think it varies).

      • Good idea.

  • +2

How do I know this offer is activated

    • +1

Hello Codeless, if you have entered your mobile number on the 'Fuel Your Savings' page (https://www.revolut.com/en-AU/promo/au-fuel-merchant-promo/) and received a text message with download link, you're activated!

      • I used the link to get an sms to the Play store, downloaded and signed up. I was confused about confirmation of this promo on my account, so I went back to the promo page and entered my number again. This time i got the "Unfortunately you're not eligible…" pop up from the app.

So do I have or not have this promo activated?

  • Can I refer my dog for bonuses?
He's trynna save the world from cats on bikes

    • Did your dog get his driving licence on the first attempt? The only good cat is a flat cat!

      • +1

Got it on his 9th attempt.
        There's work to be done

        • Yes, those cats live charmed lives

    • No you can't.. cos bitches be crazy

  • Can you use a referral and this promo together?

    • Can't stack them, I'm afraid. It's one or the other

      • Does the referral campaign still exist? What are the details?

        • Customers can access any current referral campaigns via the app to share with their friends and family

        • If you are a new customer, there is nothing is in it for you.
The referrals are no longer symmetric, and completely in favour of the referee. Always refer to the T&Cs.

You are completely better off with this offer.

  • Signed up but says I am ineligible for the offer?

    • Hey abetastic, if you have followed the promo link above, entered your mobile # and completed the sign up requirements (ID etc) you're auto enrolled for the promo. If you were to click on the link again now, and enter the same mobile # (post sign up), it'll say you're ineligible as you're already registered

      • Hi @revolutrep followed the process and signed up, I tried to enter my mobile number again and a message showed that the link will be sent to my number but no link this received this time. Does it mean I am all set? I haven't been notified about the promotion during the setup tho

        • +1

Hey DeepMidWicket! Great news you're signed up :) That's all you need to do, the rest is on our side. As long as you followed the process above, you're registered

  • I just signed up and never had any account with them, but still saying I'm not eligible for the offer. Waste of time

    • Hey Dr-Bargain, similar to my comment above to abetastic, if you have followed the link, entered your mobile # and signed up, you are registered. If you then re-enter your number it'll send a push notification saying 'ineligible' because you're already on board :)

      • Thanks for clarifying

        • You're welcome :)

          • @revolutrep: What is the period of validity for this cash back. Once I signed up, untill when I can submit my 3 cash backs?
Also, is the cash back only for first 1500 cash backs?

            • +1

@Dr-Bargain: The promo period runs until 21 November, during which time you'll be required to make 3 transactions. Cash back is only for the first 1500 sign ups, such as yourself (not the first 1500 transactions)

  • "You dont meet the requirements"

    • Hey garth69, what was the journey you followed to see that message?

  • Will this be available on under 28 accounts?

  • What information is required for signup other than photo ID? Are we required to take a selfie and submit it?

    • Hey brd56, you do need to take a selfie in order to match you against your ID doc. You can read more about signing up here (https://help.revolut.com/en-AU/help/sign-up/why-do-i-need-to…)

      • Is this a legal requirement for KYC or is this just a company policy?

        • +1

It's to avoid financial crime where an individual could use your personal information to create a Revolut account on their device, completely without your knowledge. The selfie upload proves it's really you who's creating the account. You can read more about the security we have in place here: https://www.revolut.com/en-AU/how-we-keep-your-money-safe/

  • +3

just a reminder, it asks for your selfie.
I stopped there, is this common now?

    • Seems to be the standard now for most online financial services

    • +1

we call this KYC is in the land of crypto. pretty much giving them your identity.

  • +7

Don’t do it. This mob were compromised and leaked customer identification details recently. Received the notification from them in the last 4 weeks.

Extract from notification from them below:

We recently experienced a highly targeted cyber attack by an unauthorised third party who may have obtained access to some of your customer details for a very short period of time. You don’t need to take any action but we wanted to let you know, as well as offer our sincere apologies that this has happened.

We immediately identified and isolated the attack.

As you were one of a very small percentage of customers affected, we wanted to reassure you that your data is now secure, but we understand that you may have questions about the incident.

    • So they will be more vigilant now. Seems to be that the odds are against them getting hacked again. /s
