$10 Cashback on $20+ Purchase with Revolut at Any Petrol Station (First 1500 New Customers Only, up to 3 Claims for $30 Max)

1302

Hi guys. This seems like a pretty good offer. Simply follow the link to activate, then follow the steps to create a free Revolut account and get a virtual card. You can then add the card to your Apple/Google wallet for fuel and/or in-store purchases. Can’t see any catches in the terms, and the Revolut rep will be available to answer questions. Been advised they'll pull the promo once the 1500 new customer cap is reached, so you'll definitely know in advance of signup. Stay safe, and enjoy :)

Full T&Cs of the offer available here.

An Eligible Merchant is a merchant whose merchant category code (“MCC”) is designated as MCC 5541 (being Service Stations).

      More details at https://www.bitdefender.com/blog/hotforsecurity/revolut-hack… and

      https://techcrunch.com/2022/09/20/revolut-cyberattack-thousa…

There’s no good reason for a fintech to give up identity of clients via social engineering in 2022. There is obviously a serious deficiency of proper information security safeguards.

    • Facebook, LinkedIn, Medibank, Optus, Experian, Equifax, Ebay, Uber, Twitch to name a few…. hard to stay away once your personal data becomes digital.

      • +2

Yes, and if we continue to support the businesses that don’t protect our data then the message we are sending is that it is okay. While our federal government passes weak privacy legislation we need to make it costly for businesses that don’t take it seriously. Walk.

        • New forms of identity are required in my opinion. Businesses may think they are investing in security until they found that xxxxx company (which provides hardware or software to them) had a zero day exploit and they were vulnerable and attacked.

          • +3

@ob1wan: The breach is the subject of zero transparency from Revolut. It’s doubtful it’s a zero day and even if it was a financial institution should have layers of security preventing a single zero day from allowing database extraction. Yes governments should do something more about identity verification but Revolut doesn’t deserve a free pass here.

        • So your solution is to boycott them until…what? They aren't vulnerable anymore?

Data compromisation isn't going away any time soon, and hackers will only continue to find new ways to gain access.

          • +2

@magic8ballgag: It's not worth risking your personal info for tiny amounts of money. So yeah, I'd 'boycott' . But by boycott, I mean I wouldn't spread my personal info around to dozens of companies for petty sign up bonuses when it's well known that the more companies you give info to, the more likely you'll lose that info. Institutions like these that require your ID are even more important.

            • @Ibz: Of course, but we give it away for much, much less to social media companies, so why not boycott them also?

Or should we only boycott those that have had a data breach?

              • +1

@magic8ballgag: I don't give my license, passport, real address, or real DOB to those services. I also give each a unique email through www.bulc.club :) and each has a unique password of course cos that's best practice. If they get hacked, the hacker will not get much real info. I work in cyber security lol. But anyway the problem with something like revolut is you can't give fake info. If they're collecting such important info, they better delete it as soon as they've verified me. Who knows if they would though, because Australia has no GDPR

  • I am a new customer, who registered via the above landing page on my mobile. Jumped through the hoops. Signed up with a standard account and ordered a card.

I received an email that I was verified during the process.

Couldn't see if the promo was applied to my account so I clicked back through the landing page and received a "you're not eligible at the moment" message about the promo.

    Please help revolutrep!

Hey Antsey, if you have followed the link, entered your mobile # and signed up, you are registered. If you then re-enter your number - after you've already been verified - it'll send a push notification saying 'ineligible' because you're already on board :)

  • Just signed up. Thanks TA.

For verification why do you need my driver’s license or passport, app DELETED!

Banks and other service providers have a legal obligation to verify your identity before they can provide services to you. They may also have obligations to collect other information about you to comply with anti-money laundering and counter terrorism financing legislation. This is one way to keep Australia safe from serious financial crime such as money laundering and terrorism financing.

TL;DR they want to get under your tinfoil hat

      • Are you a bank ?

        • +1

Hey boozler, we are a financial services provider who helps you get more from your money. We're available globally and have 20m customers :)

        • Yes, they are a bank.

  • Don't sign up with this scam company

Tried to sign up, provided all documents etc and they deactivated my account
Mined my data. No explanation provided.

Why after signing up, did I get a text of a Microsoft account single use code???

  • +6

Revolut requires your facial recognition data to sign up and last month personal data for 50,000 accounts was stolen.

We shouldn’t be giving new business to companies that can’t safeguard our data.

  • Is it a good way to load cards from coles deal on MasterCard GC into this Revolut account and then use it from there?

You don’t need to manage all the cards you buy. Just load it in the wallet and use it.

  • @revolutrep

Does this mean I can essentially do 3x $20 fuel top-ups and get 3x $10 back?
"Get up to $30 cash back when you fill up and pay for fuel with Revolut. New customers only."

Also do we have to accept the deal elsewhere in the app or just go through the link you provided to download the app as a new user to be eligible?

    • Hey James D, if you have followed the link, entered your mobile # and signed up, you are registered :) The $30 cashback is applied if you make 3x transactions over $20. Thanks for joining :)

  • Never got my cashback from their last deal.

    • Hey clx, please send me a DM and I'll help

  • What should the landing page look like when I hit the link sent to the mobile. Mine sends me to their UK website and says to choose country or region for specific content. No mention of the offer. Should it mention the deal when you hit the link or you just have to trust it works like amazon gift card deals?

    • Hey Icy-Wolverine, can you send me a DM and I'll help trouble-shoot the geo direct. The SMS link you receive after entering your mobile # in the above link should send you to the app store.

In answer to your other Q, if you have followed the link, entered your mobile # and signed up, you are registered :)

  • I believe a few weeks ago, Revolut cards are no longer prepaid but debit cards now. Any reason to using them anymore if its going to be like another CBA/Westpac card etc.?

    • Morning black-cat43, we believe we have something unique when compared to our competitors. You can read more about our products in Australia here: https://www.revolut.com/en-AU/ We have a lot in the roadmap too :)

    • Have they not always been debit cards or at least for a long time now?

  • +1

    • Yep same here tried like 5 times.

      • Hi Ramrunner, same message as per Devil, please can you send me a DM and I'll help trouble shoot

    • Hey Devil, please can you send me a DM and I'll help trouble shoot with you. I've just tested it and it's working for me

  • so you can load funds from Apple Pay/ credit card. Will that be considered a cash advance??

    • Hey wdwd123, your credit card provider may charge so best to use debit if you can

  • Just tried the link and registered after downloading app, ID is being verified , will fill- up tomorrow .

    • Hey Brainwhacker, great to hear! Thanks for joining and enjoy the cashback :)

I could be overlooking something but I did a fill on Thursday at 7/11 for $22 and I received $30 from Revolut, I thought it was spend $20+ and get $10 back, maximum 3 transactions (3x $20+ transactions) for a maximum $30 (3x $10) back?

  • +2

I have made 3 purchases after joining this promo. 1st at United a few days ago then twice yesterday at coles supermarket and Scoot airlines and have already received the $30 bonus this morning, thought would have to use at a petrol station 3 times but that’s not the case. Thankyou :)

    • +3

Same, i made a $20 visit to 711 and got the $30 two days later.

  • How soon after purchase, does the cashback get credited?

    • At least 2.5 days so far and no $10 cashback…..

      • Did you receive the text message initially which indicated that you were one of the first 1500 new customers? If so how and where did you use it?

I just added their multi-use virtual card to my Google Wallet and spent around $25 at 7-Eleven and the entire $30 bonus payment showed up after a couple of days.

  • I too only did 2x fuel purchases and got the $30.
They were also running a $100 referral promo - did this just before the cut off date (signed up wife as she's going overseas soon and our bank has high ATM and international transaction fees). Was deposited this morning.
Thanks Revolut for a free $130!

  • Never got my payment from Unidays offer and store rep didn't respond to my DM lol. Oh dear

  • I paid $21 using revolut on 7/11 today and cant see the 10$ cash back.

    • It's not instant it takes a couple of days.

      • ok thanks

  • Cheers TA! 🍻

  • Only did one BP purchase, just under $90 top up of fuel.
2000 Qantas points and then $30 Revolut cashback.

Filled up again yesterday, at $2.35 per litre and felt every penny being drained from bank account

  • I'm not complaining but I got the $30 after a single $20 transaction.
