Please are there any Airmini users here who might have some feedback on it?

I have the Air Mini as well as a Fisher & Paykel Icon+ Auto.

I had the F&P Icon+ first and then picked up the Air Mini for travel, but I ended up using the Air Mini for a while as my main cpap machine at home.

Noise is definitely more annoying with the Air Mini, but you do end up getting used to it - I had forgotten how annoying it was until I went back to using the F&P Icon+ as my main and then used the Air Mini when I went on holidays. Icon+ was definitely less annoying for noise.

Hard to beat Air Mini for travel though. Very light and compact.

I've got an airmini and a resmed airsense 10 auto.

I use the airmini as a travel CPAP now, but did use it for 2 years as my primary machine at home.

As Aerobot said - it is much more noisier than a full size CPAP machine and does produce less moisture from the Humid X discs, as opposed to proper humidification from water.

If you want a tiny machine or a travel machine, this ticks both of those boxes.

2 years on an Airsense 10 Auto and it's my main machine at home - had the Mini for 12 months.
I travel domestically 2 weekends of each month and overseas 4 weeks a year
I use a Phillip Dreamwear nasal cushion as my mask which I love because the hose is on a swivel at the top of your head. The Airmini limits you into specific masks which are all hosed from the front. The limitation is the hose size (it's smaller than usual) and also to allow for the Humid X humidifier discs which are ok, not great.
You can get an adapter for a full size hose so you can run your normal mask but you lose the humidifier.
The noise is noticably higher but I wear ear plugs so it's no worries.
Travelling with the mini is great, because it's small and you don't need to worry about carrying water for the humidifier.
I would say it's 60-70% as good as my Airsense 10, but it's 2-3x easier to travel with.
Also if you ever need to run off a battery like the Medistrom Pilot, you get a better experience from the Mini.

      • Thanks guys for your feedback. Am considering whether to get a mini or an Airsense 11 (when it launches in Aus). Its a beautiful looking device, albeit it less portable than the mini obviously.

      • I'm only on an Airsense 9 but soooo love the hose swivel on top of my head with my mask.

    • I use the AirMini as my main machine after about a year of using the AirSense 10. Main reason I switched was so I didn't have to get used to a new machine every time I travelled.

As noted by others, it is noisier than an Airsense, but there are certain ways to position the hose so it isn't as bad. You definitely get used to it. It doesn't bother me anymore, and when I used an Airsense again for a couple of nights I thought I didn't turn it on, really quiet in comparison.

Best thing about it, of course, is the portability. I've used it while camping and on planes with the Medistrom battery. Battery power also comes in handy during a power outage

Not sure if this price is good though, I bought my machine with mask and battery from NSW CPAP for around $1,500 a few months ago.

    • Just to add perspective from someone who's only used AirMini, I don't find it too noisy but as I have no benchmark or comparison point it's hard to appreciate how noisy it is vs others.

For me it's noisy when the mask isn't properly fitted and air leaks (like an air conditioner in your face), but far better than my snoring (according to my partner).

  • There are better deals around. You can get the same device with hard travel case for just $1,257.00 here.

  • As I've just had my sleeping test done recently and I am about to embark on this CPAP journey, and I don't personally know anyone using it, I thought about asking you guys here what you think about a more permanent solution (surgery) instead of a 1/3 of the life connected to a machine?

    • +1

I'm a medical profession and work closely with surgeons to treat patients with sleep apnoea. Bimaxillary advancement surgery is one of the few proven surgeries to help with OSA.

It definitely does help with severe OSA, but i wouldn't recommend it for the light hearted. The other surgical treatment options have yet to show any definitive improvement. Do NOT do the palatal surgeries.

    • -1

If you're young, go for jaw surgery.

    • +2

Am a sleep physician and run a multidisciplinary clinic with sleep surgeons for OSA. CPAP is the best therapy for symptomatic or severe sleep apnoea in those who can tolerate it. Any good sleep surgeon won't even consider touching you until you've had an adequate trial of CPAP therapy and deemed to be intolerant. Surgery and MAS are both excellent options for the right candidates anatomically if done by sleep-specific surgeons/dentists with the appropriate experience. The issue with both options, as will be discussed by said experts during consent, is there is no 100% accurate way to determine the best non-CPAP based therapy which can often fail despite being costly and/or very invasive.

My husband uses the air mini and loves it .
Has also used it on planes with its battery pack .
Small enough to fit in the palm of your hand.
    I hate it .
Had to share a room on holidays . So much louder that a normal CPAP machine. Husband going deaf so can sleep with all that noise
At 1.5 metres away when it was at its average sound it was 76 decibels. It does get louder when it ramps up the pressure.
It has to be around 4 or 5 years old now and thought they were soon to release something newer.
Even with earplugs if you have to be in the same room 76 decibels is hair-dryer or vacuum cleaner strength noise.Left him at home the next 2 holidays.
