  • Seems like a real downgrade from the galaxy watch 4 classic. Hope they bring back the rotating bezel.

    • Its missing the bezel which definately sucks. But that hardly makes the rest of the watch a "real downgrade". If there is more that is worse though, please let me know because i am seriously considering grabbing one of these, and i could probably get the 4 classic for a lot less money

Have the classic 45mm. The 5 Pro felt huge, heavy and bulky, way more than the 4 classic. Imo for that price it is not it. The aesthetics and feel of it feels way better overall on the 4 classic. I really felt like they went backward. Then again, i guess you probably would get used to it and there is better battery life. I would go to JB and try them both on in store.

TLDR - Whole watch big thicc chonker. IMO Galaxy Watch 4 better in looks and price :)

Sounds like an incredibly biased review to make yourself feel better about owning an old model

@MEGASERVE: I actually got the 4 classic right before the 5 release knowing how it looked like. Would still stick to the 4 for the next few year.
Gave my opinion and yes it is biased since i wore mine more but i did try the 5 at jb. Im a samsung enthusiast and I thought it missed the mark in terms of price, looks and feel.
Your choice in the end. Ill stick with my galaxy watch 4 classic that functions 95% the same for a way better price.

        • You are not wrong about the size, I definitely noticed that when I saw it at JB Hifi. One of the things that has put me off purchasing a smart watch until now is the battery life, and I was hoping the size tradeoff would be worth it for the slightly improved battery life. My main reason for getting one is Google assistant support seeings i cant really touch my phone at work a lot of the time. Setting timers and controlling spotify or even dictating messages all hands free will be a game changer for me at work. We have so much dust/fume extraction noise at work that my headset and pocketed phone can never hear me when im screaming "OK Google" at it. Hoping that bringing the watch right near my mouth will be enough to make it work.
The next thing im not sure about is whether to get it with LTE or not. I dont really think i need LTE as I always carry my phone with me, and i have heard using LTE really kills battery life anyway.

          • @DanielP2: The galaxy watch 4 classic also has google assistant. Never needed to use it as my phone or tablet is always next to me so I cant vouch. But Im pre sure the battery life tradeoff wont be that big and if you do the simple action of taking it off when shaving/brushing/bathing in the morning or night that should never let you get to the point where its almost dead. Its just a habit which will become automatic in a few weeks. Also I have the wifi model as LTE seems overkill and everyone says it absolutely kills the battery. My WIFI/Bluetooth Gear 4 Classic seems to last a day and a half (albeit I did notice that it was better on my s22u vs my pixel 6). Sorry for loads of text just tryna help with your purchase.

          • @DanielP2: you could get a wireless charging stand so that your phone can hear you. Also, retrain the voice model in your work environment perhaps? I actually use a magsafe case and I have a magsafe charger on my pegboard which acts as my google assistant in my room and i have something similar in the car and I find it easier to change music. For example, my android auto has maps on it and my phone has spotify and its really simple to change songs as its right next to my hands.

            • @curryking69: hmm yes thats a point, I havent retrained it since i first got the phone a few years ago. What did you pay for the 4 classic? looks like the 46mm version has been down to $350 at one point. That is a pretty compelling argument to at least do a bit more research. Thanks mate

              • @DanielP2: Got the wifi model at 338 or something about a month before the 5 as my gear s3 frontier battery was dying after 4 years of use.

              • @DanielP2: There is currently a deal at jb for the watch 4 classic LTE. Imo go for LTE if you really have to.

Wife got me one for my birthday just the other week, she paid full RRP from JB hi-fi… Told her to return it and to hand in her Oz bargain licence

  • Only seems to be this colour at this price.

JB Hifi will typically price match in any colour (in store at least)

    • They refused to price match the silver for me. Said it has to be the exact model (which in this case is black). Went back after 15min > spoke to another store rep > he said they don't price match amazon > i argued they do and after a bit of frustrating exchange they agreed to > because everyone was so exhausted with the whole debate, they didn't say anything when i said I want the silver model.
