Was searching for an upgrade to my K3 SV AGV helmet ( since most retailers don't seem to stock em anymore) and found this deal. The helmet typically retails for $579! (Core Black/Cyan/Fluro Yellow colour only)

Such an absolute win for someone wanting to upgrade

(Might get discounted with eBay codes?)

Update: Got mine delivered today…the packing was intact with the contents. Really thrilled with the purchase!

  • Perfect for my e-scooter!

    • +2

What's the height you can drop this from?

    • +1

      What e-scooter do you have?

    • +1

A consideration, motorcycle helmets are heavier than full face bicycle helmets, and they also have limited airflow. The major downside of full face bicycle helmets are the price of course.

I don't know what speed your scooter is capable of, but in hot Australian weather a motorcycle helmet might be cheaper, but nearly unbearable in comfort.

  • +3

Already have a Arai Profile V and a Scorpion Exo R1 carbon.
What's another helmet? Thanks OP. Can't say no at this price.

    • already have Arai rx7-v - same one as lots of motogp/F1 drivers
should i really get another one?

      • Yes, yes you should.
Can never have too many helmets.
I absolutely love my Exo R1, but this will be used for scooter riding.

        • I thought helmets were like mobile phones - more than one at a time was for the rich
Me thinks next one should be open face. With summer coming (hopefully) short ride to shops with wind in me hair. mmm

          • +7

@ChatCPT: I guess, if you want chin scrape lol

Personally, I'm a safer rider, ride with jacket, gloves, helmet and my race boots when I jump on the bike. I wouldn't use a open face helmet, especially at the risk chin scrap and the like

            • @he11bent: Haha should I cancel my ebike purchase

              • +1

@ChatCPT: @havok44 - not at all haha. Nothing wrong with zipping to work in more comfort. I've got a practically race prepped gixxer600, and it's now cumbersome to commute to work. Scooter is the way to go

                • @he11bent: noice! i really want to take my sv650 to work (plenty of torque, slim, comfy, ABS) but cbd (syd) is not helping with enough free spots
If I have to pay then I might as well catch the train and snooze

but my building has a huge amount of locked secure bicycle parking (new building) so have to take up this offer!
already ordered a powerful mid drive motor (the motorcyclist in me is taking over on a push bike too) haha

          • +1

@ChatCPT: Could always go for a Modular helmet, so you can switch back and forth depending on weather?

            • +1

@Rail Rider95: thats what i should have done. save money on multiple helmets but I paid $1000 for my arai rx7v so it protect my head everyday! unless someone's will to pay a decent price for it haha

Biggest issue for me (aside from not being able to try it on first), is buying any helmet at the moment, with the new ECE 22.06 standard being enforced as of mid next year.

    • +8

22.06 will only be mandatory for manufacturing new helmets, 22.05 lids will still be perfectly legal to use for many years.

      • +2

No, I know. But it's already mandatory in England or Europe (can't remember which) for all new helmets. Soon to be mandatory here. And it is a massive improvement in safety standards over the ECE 22.05 that's been around for more than a decade.

      • +7

any concern wouldn't be about legality it would be about improved safety.

    • +1

      Two good points.

  • +2

That's a really really good deal. Alas I have the typical "Arai" head and this wouldn't suit me and many others.

    • I have one of these AGV helmets and it's good but my chin hits up against the inside of it (I have a forward leaning Ducati).

What is an Arai fit like? I know that they're good helmets though I've not tried one yet.

      • +2

Sounds like you have a Shoei head. You really need to go to a shop and try on a whole bunch. (Don't drop any tho lol)

        • +1

This. I came here pretty much just to ask how many have been dropped hehehe.

  • +11

If the postie looks at it and drops it can I make him pay for it?

    • +8

nah he will just refuse to pay & then post about it on a forum

  • Any good for car track days ya think? Need something but maybe this is more than I need!

    • +1

The $50 ALDI ones will do the job for beginner track days.
The chances of a serious crash is very unlikely with the cars and open tracks used for them.

    • +3

An open face helmet might be more comfortable for a car track day?

      • +2

Yeah I got an open face for TD antics. Full face is only for real tracm day only cars etc and bikes of course

    • +1

cheers guys, I'd totally grab an Aldi one if they had them haha

      • +1

I snagged the last $50 reduced helmet at an Aldi near me a couple of weeks ago. Looks really good for a beginner.. I bought it for Go karting and might get around to doing a track day.

Black / grey / fluro yellow colour from same seller

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/265895987831

    • Only 7 available though

  • +3

Sizing is the issue though! You really need to try this on first

    • -1

Just get it the next size up so you know itll fit ;) haha

  • Are this d ring or the ratchet?

    • D ring

      • -1

        Yuck. So much worse

        • +4

What's wrong with the D ring? It's over 2000 years old and still the best way to fasten.

        • +1

Guys, you may be using D rings wrong.

You're not suppose to unbuckle the D rings….

          to take off the helmet
          - pull left to loosen the strap with the red pull tab
          - do NOT un-do the rings
          - use your thumbs to push the strap towards the chinbar
          - take off your helmet

to put your helmet back on
          - use thumbs to push the loosened strap towards chinbar
          - put on helmet
          - pull to tighten and you're done

          video here

  • +11

trying on helmets to find your size - which can be brand specific - is really important. cheapest certainly doesn't mean the best!

    • Totally - i've found AGV the best fit for my noggin and that Bell helmets fit me horribly!

      • +1

Complete opposite for me. AGV is horrible, Bell and Shoei fit great.

I'd highly recommended figuring out what fits your head before buying online. You'll waste your money if it doesn't fit right.

  • +4

    Hopefully no one drops theirs

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/729232

    • this is on discount because it was probably dropped in store…

    • +1

      Wow…. 🤦🏽

  • +1

Keep in mind helmets have a limited life. I think it's suggested to replace every 5 years. When they are on sale like this I tend to question how long they've been sitting for. Sitting on a shelf is obviously not the same as actual usage assuming they haven't been stored in high humidity. But something to consider.

    • +3

Approx ten years in storage, and 5 years of use. Generally speaking.

      • Good to know. Thanks

  • How is it in terms of fit? I’ve got an aria chaser helmet but it’s done it’s duty in a crash and due for an upgrade. Wanted to get bell but they were too tight on the cheeks

    • +1

Sounds like you're too big for your cheeks… You're not sitting on it are you? 😅

      • +5

Mate I’ll be sitting on you in a sec

        • +4

          You cheeky monkey…! 🙈🐒

  • +1

For those that bought and have a go pro
    https://motomounts.co.nz/products/agv-k3-k5-mount?_pos=3&_si…

Currently has free shipping on their mounts.
Don't bother with ChinMounts from Canada, I bought theirs before and it didn't even stick properly to my Arai helmet, got a Motomount from NZ instead and the mount fit perfectly.

    • Also if you have multiple helmets, I would go for the Dango gripper mount. It's a spring loaded clamp mount; easy to take on and off the chin bar of your helmet. No faffing about with gopro screws.

      ebay link

      • @xavster - Gripper mounts aren't that great for these types of helmets. Especially for bikes were you are in a more "tuck" position.

  • This is also a good buy - AGV K1 Rodrigo Helmet (love this colourway)
Usually retails about $350. I paid $199 a few months ago for a spare lid. Now $179 (S,L,XL) with code PLSEPAHPTKP4RM7M
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/265849806947

    • How is the fit? How does it compare to Arai's intermediate oval shape?

  • How would anyone know if these didn’t drop while being delivered to the shops?
Since everyone was outraged about small drops

    • Tbh I am kinda worried about delivery too. Not sure how they'll deliver it to me safely with the way posties treat parcels. Apparently it's being sent via Aus post standard parcel :|

      • +1

I've got it as Couriers Please. I hate, I really really hate them. I don't thing I've ever NOT had a problem with them when a shipper uses them.
and I don't even get sent anything to my home, it's all to my office address. Yet, that still confounds them.

      • +2

Just got mine yesterday. Sadly i wasnt home so it ended up in a nearby newsagency.

It was well packed. Kudos to moto outlet. For the fast delivery and i guess to couriersplease.

  • +1

I used the eBay coupon MCPAY10V4 to get an additional $10 off.

Thanks very much OP for posting. I'm looking forward to trying my first AGV helmet.

  • +1

Perfect timing, I need to replace my K3 SV and the K5 S uses the same sizing & accessories.
The right helmet is one that properly fits your head, if its an OzBargain deal too, so much the better!

  • +1

    Same boat mate! 😉

  • +1

Just received mine today. As mentioned above the box was well packed and looked after.

Helmet is definitely a step up from my original K1 and not to mention this time I don’t have to pay the freaking jacked price in Sydney.

    • Hang on, what's this about jacked prices in Sydney?

      • Went to a few shops nearby, all are selling RRP and no discount. Maybe I was not asking nice enough.

I found item prices generally to be cheaper in neighbouring states cities than Sydney.

        • Ah, well, yes, just hodl for black friday.
