from what i can tell this is the cheapest 6950xt to date. No import duties and taxes in my check out page.
however this is via Amazon US so is it worth the risk for a grey market card and potential lack of warranty support.

@Domingo: Still a good idea to consider a new architecture is being announced 2 weeks, especially considering the recent inflated GPU prices, and that AMD last updated their GPUs almost 2 years ago.

    • +2

Exactly. Price of the older gen will continue to drop after the new gen releases

      • It'll drop but it won't drop that much more tbh. The only thing that'll drop the price is if there's crazy competition between Nvidia and AMD. If AMD delivers lacklustre GPUs then expect Nvidia to further delay the "release" of the 4000 series by as long as it takes to shill out all the excess 3000 series stock. They do this by either limiting supply or paper launching.

Don't buy iPhone 14 when iPhone 15 release next year!

    • 14 is already out.

  • +1

Why does it have "$1321.04" in my order details?

    https://imgur.com/a/igvCEQN

    • Showing OPs price for me.

    • +1

I'm assuming due to the "Import Fees Deposit" as the item over $1000, as per your screenshot.

      • So how much will we actually be charged in total?

        • If you click the "Import Fees Deposit" text from your orders, it should provide more information.

You'll most likely be charged $1321.04 ($1079.34 + Import Fees) and if the Import Fee is lower than the estimate, you'll be refunded the difference.

  • How does it compare to same price of 3070 ti?

    • +3

      This fights the 3090ti, how does a 3070ti compare with a 3090ti?

      • -5

because its same price and i heard geforce does better in rendering and editing compared to amd.

        • +3

You heard? What's prevented you from googling benchmarks up until now?

          • -6

@vaskothefrog: Heard it directly from pc building team when I was enquiring on building a PC for editing and rendering. Benchmarks on other hand don't factor in rendering and editing performance and know that first hand because I used to have and before and the benchmark didn't reveal its true colours using premier pro or avid.

Of course that was back on last gen 5700 xt so I don't know if this gen is any better in rendering wise compared to nivida.

    • Will smash it easily.

    • They're going for <$700 when on sale… look harder for deals.

    • I would hold for when Nvidia 4080/70s are dropped for a cheap 3070 ti.

  • +2

The 6600xt and 6700xt slowly crept back up by $100 or more after people HDOL.

I’d say if you wanted the best of current. This is a deal.

  • +6

Oof this is tempting…but must resist and HODL
since rumour has it RDNA3 has at least double the RT performance I think…

I’d imagine AMD saw the circus show that was NV’s 4000 series launch and use this chance to price competitively to steal market share…so I hope.

    • +2

I’d imagine AMD saw the circus show that was NV’s 4000 series launch and use this chance to price competitively to steal market share…so I hope.

I think there is a lot of hope, but I doubt they will undercut by much. They are a business, and every business is milking 'inflation' for everything it's worth.

      Still.. I hope too.

      • +3

I fear that Nvidia has set the ceiling so high that even if AMD does price their stuff lower it will still be really high anyway

  • I have a 6600 xt no sure if I can upgrade to something like this with a Corsair 750W RM750 80+ Gold Modular power supply. might have to look at 850w modulars.

    • Yeah this is exactly me but in the itx land and aiming for 4k120 - my SF600 is probably shitting itself right now

      • +2

I run a 3x8Pin 6800XT on a SF600 Plat. The only thing I would recommend is if you buy a 2x8 pin GPU, you should be fine, 3x8Pin and you might have to fiddle a little. I had minor stability issues before downvolting and changing the order of my plugs and now it's been solid.

        • What do you mean by changing the order of your plugs? What was wrong with your initial order?

          • +1

@Toffcuz: The 6800XT I have is 3x8pin. My PCU only has 2x8 Pin so I use a 2x8 pin splitter on one connection, the order of which the split connection was attached to the GPU seemed to make a difference for stability, I don't know why.

I now have the split connection connected at plugs 1 and 3 on the GPU with the other stand alone plug going to 2.

            hope that makes sense

    • 750w should be ok unless you have a particularly thirsty cpu. Even around 600w is borderline but doable.

  • just brought. should i cancel this ? i have a 3080ti and not sure if i got the cables for three ports this uses!

    • +4

I may be missing something, but is there even much value in trading your 3080ti for a 6950XT?

I've checked a couple of comparisons and can't see much reason to upgrade, but that could come down to models.

Edit: Found some other comparisons that put the 6950XT at around 14% better FPS.

    • +2

      You mean bought lol

You'll get a bump in rasterisation performance (regular 3d graphics) but DLSS really is good. I am hoping AMD's raytracing performance picks up or there are improvements to FSR so I can jump ship because raytracing is important for me. If you rely on using DLSS then yes, you should absolutely cancel it.

    • +1

If you just bought it, total waste of money if you already have a 3080ti. I'd be cancelling straight away.

Besides that, RDNA3 and RTX 4080 are mere weeks away. Yes it will be more expensive, but makes sense to wait and see what they offer or if they influence prices on the prev gen cards etc.

    • Why the FK would you order one and then ask that question?

      • Presumably to lock in stock and then decide, since you can usually cancel with no hassles when it's sold by Amazon

  • +4

Was about to take the punt on this card then realized…..

    1. No dual BIOS
    2. Sapphire 6900xt Toxic is $1,299 - runs cooler/OC better.
    3. MSI GPU have always been subpar for me - Sapphire/ASUS cards have run cooler and quieter at the same clocks compared to MSI.

Great find though OP! awesome price for a 6950XT

    • Generally the case that the brands that only supply one OEM are the best i.e Sapphire for AMD and EVGA for Nvidia

      • No more EVGA GPU's :(

    • Luckily, I see you comment. The 6900xt toxic is now $1199 in BPC now. It seems has better performance in my research, and local purchase comes with local warranty (MSI does not provide global warranty for GPUs). And in addition, toxic is way better looking.
I am ready to pull the trigger, the next gen is still at least 1 month to go and there is no guaranty it will come with better performance and lower price at same price.
Even it does come with all benefit, there is no way I can get a "toxic" on this price.

      • I can get a 6 month old toxic 6900xt extreme edition for $990 with PLE warranty, think im gonna pull the trigger, for the same points you said. plus these cards will resell for better value than MSI brand etc

        • May I ask how do you get that?
I ordered from BPC and cancelled it this morning. It was LTD edition, not extreme edition, and they are not able to fulfill the order.

  • +2

Nice one OP! Tempted but I think I'll HODL for RDNA3 announcement and/or Black Fri

  • Will this run Diablo Immortal - lol jst kidding

  • +1

I would buy this right now if next gen wasn't just around the corner. best bang for buck around.

  • Whats amazons return policy?

    • They accept them

  • +1

Just bought one, this deal is insane

  • +1

Great deal, but in reality, priced at what it should have been all along.

  • purchased this and it mentioned the tax until it is in the orders section of amazon. while it didn't mention it in the purchase at checkout. the tax is a little bit OP.

  • Amazing deal, thanks for sharing OP

  • Man, and I was looking at secondhand 3090s and 6900XTs at this price and higher… But like everyone else has mentioned, HODL for at least 7000 series news from AMD

  • Does anyone have any recent experience with AMD cards and Oculus Link & Air Link? I heard AMD cards are a bit crap compared to Nvidia due to bitrate limitations or something.

    • Anecdotal accounts on forums suggest AMD is buggy with VR

  • holy mother of bargain.

    • +1

This should be peak deal. By the time you need to upgraded (3-5 years) RT will be a legit thing by then.

  • Hodllllll

  • I'm keen…but surely they'll drop more over the coming months?

    • +4

Possibly, although on the other hand there hasn't been a $999 6900xt in a few months, which seemed to be the regular sale price at the time.

Depends how much stock they have lying around and the prices of rdna 3.

    • +4

Depends what AMD think they can flog their upcoming 7900XT off for. NVidia's taken a punt @ around $3k for their 4090 and the simps are lining up for it outside Bestbuy.

  • +1

Has anyone contacted Amazon yet to ensure that they are not going to get charged $1321.04 becuase of the "Import Fees Deposit"?

    https://imgur.com/a/gKQMGkE

  • I got the 6900xt Gaming X Trio for about this price locally a couple months ago. Great card.

  • With so many clicks why it's not out of stock yet?

    • AMD said it themselves, they have plenty of excess GPU inventory to clear

MSI clearing out the 6950 at this price means the RDNA 3 launch will announce some new $1000 - $1200 cards

AIB's will then reprice 6950 and 6900 to sub $900 or even $800 for Black Friday

This deal is a good price if you absolutely need a new GPU right now but if you don't, HODL for another 2 weeks

    • +1

The number of clicks and votes on a deal do not necessarily correlate with the actual number of people buying and products sold.

This is a $1100 product (maybe $1300 if import duties exist) so it's not something you can just impulsively purchase.

That and people are hopeful of a impending price crash when 7000 series releases. Not sure of the exact date though.

      • yup, votes dont mean much on deals anymore, people just willy nilly vote positive without the deal being confirmed as working at that price etc but the minute a negative comes out, everyone jumps on the person.

  • Hey PC legends, what would be a good price for a 6900 XT?

    • I'd be getting toey at $900, $999 is the lowest so far.

  • +4

According to this page I think the total will actually be $1,321 as Amazon will charge the Import Fee Deposit to cover taxes/duties -

    https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/help/customer/display.html?node…

    Bit confusing actually -

Where your AmazonGlobal or Amazon Global Store order has a combined value greater than $1,000 AUD, and includes items which have a customs value of $1,000 AUD/NZD or less (low value imported goods or LVIG), both GST and an Import Fee Deposit may apply, but you will only be charged for the GST once.

AmazonGlobal or Amazon Global Store orders which have a customs value of $1,000 AUD/NZD or less will not include an Import Fee Deposit, but will include applicable GST. See About GST on Australian Low Value Imported Goods (LVIG) for items delivered to an Australian address and About GST on New Zealand Low Value Goods (LVG) for items delivered to a New Zealand address.

  • +1

This has AMD equivalents of DLSS , also super resolution 2.0 etc

  • So tempting.. if it's actually $1300 (with the extra import tax) I can easily HODL, but if it's legit $1k, I am gonna blow..
someone pls confirm to quench this thirst

    • +1

Order placed, 1079 on invoice but no records on bank statement yet

1300 is also a bargin consider its better than a 1400 RTX3090 and rivals 3090ti

      • +1

Hey mate, any update on this? If this is $1079 and no extra fees I'm getting one

        • +2

Ended up calling Amazon, rep confirmed $1079.34 and will refund me if over that amount.

  • +2

Currently running a 6800XT at 1440p.. worth upgrading to this?

    • Definitely not worth it. Wait for RDNA 3 announcement if you are looking for an upgrade.

      • I'm thinking the comparable model to this would be 7800xt and would be more expensive and provide the same sort of performance. If I upgrade to this I doubt I would need to upgrade for another 2-3 years along with my paired 5800X3D CPU.

        • It just isn't a huge upgrade from 6800XT and at only 1440P I doubt there are any games that you can't play with max details (no RT). Maybe it is worth it if you can find someone to overpay for your 6800XT. IMO.

  • +6

I paid over $1,900 for this exact card back in June. Please pray for me at this difficult time.

    • +2

      F

    • +1

Sending prayers for your paper hands to stiffen up one day 🙏

    • +1

      And! I paid 1650 for a 6800xt 😔😞

  • If the card becomes faulty before warranty expires, how would one go about claiming warranty in aus?

  • So what's stopping me from buying this card, waiting to see if the 7000 series is any good, and then returning it within 30 days if it is?

    • Return to US may be quite expensive.

      • How much is it exactly to return, 60-100$?

  • +1

FINALLY! THE HODL PAID OFF! Let's go! Just got a new CPU today - it's all comming together.

  • Would a 3700x bottleneck this at 1440p 160hz?

    • Depends on the game, if its more CPU dependent then yes. It always depends.

  • 1/3 price of the 4090 1/2 the fps, I call this a win

  • I have a 6700xt Red Devil and looking to upgrade more for longevity. I don't game that much anymore. Would this be a good deal to grab or maybe wait on more next gen cards to come out? TIA

    • honestly since you don't game that much anymore I rekon you are fine with the 6700xt. Selling the 6700xt would make u lose quite a bit of money.

  • It's always fan to watch the funbois lol

  • So glad I sold my RTX card. Basically buying this for free.

  • +1

Mine was posted today. No extra import charges (yet).

  • BACK IN STOCK!

Just picked one up. Sold my 6800xt for $1400 about 6 months ago. The HODL has paid off nicely :)

Just in time for Warzone 2 👌👌
