Will they have enough planes is the million dollar question.

Plenty of news in recent days how the start of routes from Perth to Jo'burg / Jakarta has been delayed, then San Francisco start date of flights has been pushed back again to May 2023, A380 pulled off the Melbourne - Los Angeles.

In addition, have the prices risen $150 too?

    • +6

More than $150. Part of the reason why ol Alan is forecasting more than $1b profit in 1H23

  • double the price, then a $150 promotion. LOL
    and, where is Japan?

    • Japan and Hong Kong had a different promo for reopening before where they made every seat available as a reward seat.

      • I don't think reward seat is a promo to public.
Plus QF is not restarting its Melbourne Tokyo directly flight until Feb next year. what a joke.

        • This code wasnt meant for everybody either.

Yeah insane pricing. Looks like we'll be waiting until 2024/25 to travel OS. They made a nice profit thru COVID, sacked their excess staff, now they want to screw us? Long memories.

It's like they've gone the eBay model, Jack up prices and announce a sale where you still pay more.

It’s like when Coles puts the price of mince up $1.50 then reduces it 50c and claims a locked price drop

    • Japan is next to China.

  • +4

Still overpriced given their customer service on the ground is worse than a budget airline.

  • +1

I understand it's the holiday season, but the prices are way jacked up.

  • @doorslammer Better be quick before they slam the door :)

    • Yeah, maybe not such a doorslamming deal this one. More like a Coles weekly special.

    Personally I feel ‘ overjoyced ‘

but would fly any of the competitors airlines .

I’m a VA flyer but it’s interesting seeing the hate for QF over the past year or two. Pre-COVID I rarely saw many negative QF comments but over the past 12 months, no matter what is posted there’s always a bulk amount of negative replies. Not just on OzB either, even on multiple Frequent Flyer forums.

Would this stack with the $50 "sorry" voucher from Qantas?

    .

  • +3

Qantas is trying to underprice VA without even realising THERE ARE other competitors. service is 0, attitude is 9, price is 9, customer service is 0. no flying Qantas to subsidize Joyce's payrise. sayonara, Alan

You just lost yourself a customer!
Alan: Wha? I'm sorry, I couldn't hear you
I said you just lost yourself a customer!
      Alan: Huh?
You just lost yourself a customer
Alan: you're going to have to speak up!
You just lost yourself a customer, Alan!
Alan: I've forced myself to wha?
You just lost yourself a customer!

Was looking at flights to Hawaii in January 23, tried the code - "Promo Code is invalid for this journey"

Lol….its within the dates, its got the right destination but "computer says Nooooooooo"

    I'm over-joyced.

    • Surely you want to try the call centre now, I hear wait times are down from 6 hours to 2 hours

    • I got the code to work ok after testing SYD-HNL for dates Jan 23 - Jan 31.

      • +1

        Ah i read the T&C's

        Blackout dates include 10 December 2022 to 22 January 2023, 1 to 15 April 2023 and 1 June to 31 July 2023.

        Thats when im going (maybe….)

        • Of course there are blackout dates!!!

  • As long as their call centres are outsourced to incompetent Mindpearl I will not fly Qantas.

    • Look at the brightside, I initiated a refund with Samsung 6 months ago and they just called me out of the blue to start the process…..surely it can't be that bad.

      • Huh, try 2.5 years,I finally got my refund from a cancelled flight in May 2020.
        Return flight got cancelled.
Got some voucher that I couldn't log on and see.
        Then flight details disappeared.
        No voucher.
Numerous calls, emails, more calls, spam their social media account several times. Several emails and phone calls saying that they will refund shortly, etc. Apologies for the delay. Contact them again if I still need help. FFS. Scathing public messages on their defunct Facebork page.
Got a refund now. Got less than half back.
Was Platinum FF, now dropped down to Gold.

Wife has several tickets on a early time frame. She was Gold FF. Still no response…

  • 1400 return pp syd/hon… wow no deal

    • Try easter. 3.5k return. syd-hnl , 7/4-15/4

You can PE on Air New Zealand for that price. (longer flight, SYD-AKL-HNL)

Hawaiian Air does it for usd1661/ AUD2600…

Jetstar, who knows if they will get you there, or get you back…
