    Nice. Wish I could afford.

  • 65 can be had for so much cheaper, is it really worth double price for 7 inches?
she might say yes but i really wonder

    • +46

      65 + 7 = 72

      • +16

        🤔😔

    • +2

Very true OLED value at 65"+ is not on par with LED TV's sadly.

I'm still waiting for a $4,000 77" OLED deal to pop up before pulling the trigger, fingers crossed for Black Friday.

      • +5

        What are you talking about?

The value is derived from not having to gaze upon garbage LEDs and their so called “blacks”.

          • +5

            @botchie: Was 4K a thing 15 years ago?

My 50” plasma was hitting hard 15 years ago.

          • +3

@botchie: So you buying 6 month old Lavazza beans from Coles or just rolling in the instant Moccona goodness?

          • +9

            @botchie: 4k didn't exist 15 years ago

            Think you're telling porkies

          • +2

@botchie: This indifferent fence-sitting laissez-faire attitude to things is why we’re in this mess

        • laughs in OLED accent

      • I bought the 77 inch Sony A80J OLED for $4100 around 6 months or so ago. The Sony education store deal was a little but less but missed out on that one unfortunately

        • My condolences on not getting an LG

      • Why not 83?

      • Keep dreaming with inflation the way it is

    • +3

From my understanding due to the manufacturing process of OLEDs the price increases exponentially with the screen size

still hurts to see the price increase vs size increase

      • +4

It makes sense overall as the size increase is exponential too. There's a lot more screen area going from 65 to 77 then 55 to 65

        • 65 can be had for $2500, not sure 77 and $5500 is a deal, if you even need a tv that big that is

          • @botchie: dammit i just paid 3k yesterday for a 65er

        • +3

A question for both you and the OP - when did "than" turn into "then"?

        • I believe the area increase relationship is a Quadratic one.

        • I don't buy it cos look at what they pay in usa for 65" compared to us, then compare 77"

65 is comparable, 77 not at all.

    • Yea but the 65 was similar price 3 years ago.

      • +1

The 65” (C9) was <$2800 in Dec 2019. The 77” was > $7000. The 65” hasn’t really dropped in 3 years, it even went up during 2020/2021). Albeit each year slightly improving.

    • +10

      It's actually 40% more screen area than a 65".

    • +3

I believe it's 40% more screen real estate. So not too bad.

    • That’s some maths skills you got.

    • stop buying them blue tablets!

    • the numbers can be deceiving, look at this chart for reference
      https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/by-size/size-to-distance-r…

    • Yup.

        • +5

They have semi-transparent solar cells on top of the screen that constantly recharge the capacitors so that they can keep powering the screen.

          • +2

@ChickenDinner123: flux capacitors in this model so added benefit right there

            • +1

@00: Does this mean it can do time-shift recording?

              • @Hendot: Time rift recording in this model. The extra screen space allows for this.

    • +3

I can confirm they DO NOT need electricity. You can even keep it boxed and sealed and you'll have ZERO dust to contend with. WIN WIN.

    • When placed facing, one reflects light from the other - perpetual lighting.

    • Yep. That's why OP wrote self lit

  • +2

Feels good already just watching at the thumbnail pic…

    • +1

It doesn't look like 77" in the thumbnail

      • +5

Move your face MUCH closer your phone. How about now?

      • but it says LG OLED EVO… good enough for me

  • +1

Great Post OP, this price is fantastic

  • The 77 CS is about to launch. Pretty much a C1 with a different model number and very affordable.

  • +1

To commit to this or wait for Black Friday sales…

    • Black friday. Can see these hiting $4xxx

      • +6

        yup, $4,999

        • Plus inflated shipping and charges

  • This + solar panels = something something energy

  • +8

What are the advantages of this television over, say, a movie theatre, which I could also afford?

    • You can have it at home!
      Shoutout to r/HomeTheater

  • I too will wait it out closer to end of year sales. Any concerns about screen burn with current generation of Oleds?

    • Burn-in is a free OLED feature. Just like Oral-B bristles changing colour, it indicates time to replace.

    • +1

I think OLED screen burn is pretty much a non issue if you are not a club playing a sports channel 24/7 or a hotel with a static custom menu on the screen.

Although a little older, this vid shows it well https://youtu.be/nOcLasaRCzY

  • Is 77” too big for gaming? It’s amazing for 3rd person rpg’s but terrible for fps shooters.

    • Nah it's mad. Can sit back on the couch and chill

Or move your gaming chair back.

If U have a smaller room then 65 will do

Otherwise this is way taller as well so less letterboxing

I got lucky with a G2 77 muck around so this c2 is similar

    • Gaming from the backyard has its perks

    • We have a 120” screen/projector set up with our PS5. It’s amazing. It’s more about room size & seating distance

  • Waiting for Black Friday deal!

    • Cool bananas!

    • Thanks for letting us know!!!

Gotta say hisense are really pushing the fairgrounds on TV's at reasonable prices…

While I think oleds are great, I can't say lg's really made the home a window we all value, ( well for example a home projector would be a great solution but not everyone wants to have a laser taking up floor or ceiling space, and that's why lg's wall paper TV's could revolutionise how TV's are made) however that may never happen right now.

The phone market foldable screens have so many issues and land fill is one, the cost to repair, but with LG styled wall paper TV's would only need the receiver, and detaching that and getting it fixed would in fact reduce land fill.

Hell it baffles me why no-ones built a intel NUK style wall-paper TV and did just that…

sell the sheets outballing lg's monopoly.

We moved our 55” TV into our “snug” and bought a 65” C1. We just sit a tad closer to it than we would for a 77”.

    • +1

My snug is called a "lounge room".

      • We had to cordon off part of our house because it was too expensive to heat our whole downstairs. Moving a TV back and forth was a recipe for disaster.

        • Might be time to downsize house

          • @serpserpserp: The snug, effectively, does for winter. The place works well for the other three seasons.

  • $5k i would seriously consider one of these, current Samsung LED has some defect with the screen (weird shaddow on cetre left hand side). Family watch loads of tv so i can kind of justify it….and the buy a series X 🤣

    • laughs in LG OLED accent

  • I bought this tv two months ago for $5,330.20 incl delivery using LG corporate account. So hit up your friend if they work for LG to get the same discount.

    • Can't you just get us the discount?

    • Can I be your friend’s friend too?
