Yeah seems like this overpriced bundle is not selling. It was on Amazon for so long and still have stock. Good job Ozbargainers for not paying overpriced bundle. Now Sony has no choice but to drop the price.

Only way you will be getting discounts for the console is coupons or gift cards. Most coupons usually exclude consoles so this looks pretty good. Doubt any deals will come up in the black friday sales for consoles or towards christmas.
PS5 has had a new model released with cheaper production costs. Sony have jacked the price up by $50 in our market from $750 RRP to $800 RRP. By this point it's 2yrs into the console life and when we normally start to see price cuts & aggressive holiday sales.
Hopefully Microsoft will start doing good deals on Series X and force Sony to drop their pricing. Ridiculous they would jack the price. Waiting for sub $700 sale pricing on this console. Exclusives still aren't there yet either.
I would doubt xbox would reduce their price when Sony just increased theirs. You would probably be more likely to see a sale from them before Sony though. Unfortunately companies are still riding on the 'pandemic' causing issues and somehow still justify the price hikes as that despite things coming back to normal.

I thought the change was mainly cost cutting.Just stating the facts, I don't know the differences from a performance perspective other than the new chip generates less heat, hence smaller heat sink.
Zero difference in performance. The only one who benefits from a new chip is Sony with reduced production cost.
@Azro: Gaming performance being comparable to previous models might be a design decision. The architecture of the original chip compared to the new chip is the same I think. Just scaled down for the new 6nm manufacturing process. Thermal performance has definitely improved.
@Azro: Use 10% less power and less heat to get rid off. While Sony can cut more chips from the same wafer, the production costs are higher per wafer because of the newer, smaller (and more expensive) node.
I wasn't having a go just generally curious, from what I have heard there isn't an advantage over either model.
People have reported that the new consoles in the HFW bundle have been the latest revision.
Will probably have to hand in my OzB license for paying the higher price, but I bought this bundle recently from BigW. The console I received is CFI-1202A.

It's not. Yes, It's smaller as the new chip generates less heat. But that doesn't make it worse.
It's only worse if you want to replace the CMOS battery as it's now hidden behind the redesigned heatsink. You'll apparently need to disassemble the unit to get to it now
I wouldn't be losing any sleep over this.
Some people care about it, some people don't. It's just another data point for people to consider in their decision-making process.
Will this have the old firmware for jailbreak?
I got a 1200 series from JB Hifi this week that had 5.50. You want something with 4.03 or 4.50 - the 1100 series Horizon bundle shipped with 4.50 but thats likely been replaced with the 1200 series by now
I have purchased the bundle from Amazon. I confirmed it is 1200 series, 6nm APU
How do we check this? What do we look for to differentiate the two?
It's the model code. If it's something like CFI-1200 then it's the 2022 refresh. So far none of the retailer product description include that info so it's hard to tell when you're pre-ordering or buying online.

I bet it equates to a few bucks over a year or something negligible like that though.

I bought this bundle from Big W a month ago, I got the 2022 refresh model.
It seems there are HFW bundles with the refreshed 1200-series hardware instead of the CFI-1102A I saw previously. If that's the case, then it's the 2022 model with the 6nm chip.

It sucks yes but it's a once off payment of $50. Don't have takeaway for a week or two and you've covered it. I'm more pissed off by the cost of fuel and groceries going up as much as they have to be honest.

Here's a buying idea, add PULSE 3D Wireless Headset $149 to qualify for the $100 discount, effectively paying $99 for the headset. Most stores are selling them for $159, cheapest from Amazon is $139.
Good idea, spend $105.05 more and get a further 50 off.
Dualsenses too would be a good discount like that, in different colours they range from 103.55 to 113.05Or an extra controller and a charging hub.

I sold the code on Ebay for $35 and got $30 after seller fees.
Be careful selling digital item on Ebay. Easily scammed. I had buyers doing chargeback claiming their account was hacked and Ebay sided with them.

Problem is not just digital item but physical item too. Whether eBay or PayPal, they side with buyers first and the onus is on the sellers to fight for it.
Yes, but my point is with Physical, there's more room to provide proof, such as tracked post, video of posting etc - with digital, no argument at all.

With the price increase and this being under RRP, I'd say buy especially if you want to play HFW.
No one can really answer that but yourself, but I upgraded from a PS4 last week and Ive been enjoying it.
The system is much faster so when youre short of time, so you can easily get a short gaming session going without wasting time loading (especially for some games like GT7)
Suprise for me was the controller.
Not only is it more comfortable, but the haptics is much better. Ive only played a few games that take advantage of the new controller, but from what ive played, its quite good.Gaming has changed a lot since the PS2. Some good and some not so good

There are no more manufacturing or distribution delays, so sony is ramping production back to regular/non covid times. They also are doing a big push for christmas.

It's below the typical price it normally sells at. PS1 was released in 1994. We're at the PS5 in 2022. A console has a different lifecycle to things like phones, computers, etc.
There are also events like the pandemic, drought in Taiwan, global climate which have caused supply chain issues.

Seems they are overstocking the bundle version. This bundle is available in most retailers.
