I noticed that just today(?) on the samsung education store the S21FE got dropped to $699.30 (128GB) and $769 (256gb).

    • Is this or the OW model the Exynos version? Heard its significantly worse than the snapdragon 888 version which is on ebay for $839.

$799 on Samsung store and $250 trade in bonus.

too expensive for a January release android mid range phone. should be $500 max these days

HODL. Nice phone but gonna wait for another historical low.

  • Agreed. I'm torn between this for $399 or s22 for $549. Using trade in + newsletter voucher etc.

Or just wait until feb and see what offers come out with the S23.

    Currently using s10.

I couldn't get any trade in deal this year for my S9 so be careful if you wait until next year with your S10, it might not be eligible anymore.

      • +1

Good point. They're offering 50 atm plus the trade in bonus

        • +1

I would go for the s22 at $549 with your trade in, seems to be a good deal.
I got my s21 fe 5g for $664 on amazon 2 months ago, it's definitely a good upgrade coming from my S9 :o

          • @matheous01: That's what I'm thinking. But Battery on s22 is meant to be bad. S21 has bigger battery…

            • +1

@Jono258: ah I didn't know that… I'm pretty happy with the battery life of my s21 for my use !

    • Wait till s2

    • Do you mean S22+? cause an S21FE size wise is quite a bit larger than the S22 pretty sure.

    • Wait how are you getting that price?

      • Samsung had offers on their main site. Plus trade in bonus. Plus newsletter code and loyalty code.
        Offers have now ended

  • +4

@Jono258 I'm the same, wait until Feb release as prices will drop for a phone that will only be 2 iteration old which will still carry a 2 year warranty.

Besides there is always Black Friday sales next month.

    • Yep. 100% i brought a motorpla g82 from the jbhifi perks deal so worst case ill just use that until feb

  • What are Office works like returning with box open? Few weeks old. Do they make a fuss , or is exchange better?. I noticed 30day return but does box have to be sealed , obviously have receipt. Anyone done it do you have to give a reason? ..thanks.

Okay so I legit just upgraded to a Pixel 7 Pro after 2 months on this phone.

Laggy startup, laggy startup from normal sleep, laggy camera, laggy apps in general.

There's so much Samsung bloatware, you legit have a samsung app for every single standard android/google one available as standard on any android device and they run in the background all the time (plus omg the updates on the samsung store).

It honestly feels like a phone from 10 years ago.

Now I know the cpu has gone through benchmarks and there are videos on it blah blah blah, but I'm telling you a pixel 2xl that I keep around as a controller for smart home devices is nicer to use than this phone. The day in day out experience was horrible with the samsung.

    Edit*: From 100% at 8am.

Battery when you use the phone normally (minimal use other than calls) lasts a standard business day without charging with about 20% left at 6pm on the train home.

Battery when you actually use it for emails, watch videos on the way to work etc can dip below 40% by noon.

I am personally going to steer well clear from the Samsung software mess for the lifetime of my Pixel, horrible first Samsung experience.

    • i use the samung apps - i prefer them to google's 'material' stuff, seem a bit lighter weight, especially the calendar. i have an s21 ultra and its the best phone ive ever had, but usually I buy $300 xiaomis.

    • How has your pixel 7 experience so far? I had pixel 6 last year but sold it due to issues. How is modem and battery life in 7?

      • Been a couple weeks for me - so far so good.
Fingerprint scanner is a 50/50, battery life is adequate, cameras are awesome.
        Modem wise it's good.
Considering the issues for the pixel 6 appeared few months after the release, will have to wait to see.

  • Battery on this phone is something else. Exynos chipset is another matter.

    • The A53 5G @ $336 through Telstra is also an option and appears to be good value to my untrained eye…but would very much welcome any feedback from the Subject Matter experts!
    • Link please?

    • Where are you getting $336 showing as $499 outright on telstra

  • Used this phone for 5 months before trading it in for a Pixel 7 through JB Hifi deal, can confirm the battery life is horrible.
It doesn't help that I switched to this from an iPhone 13 Pro Max, but the battery life was worse than my 3+ year old note 9 with 85% battery capacity albeit I was running custom kernel/ROM on my note 9.
Was using Galaxy Max Hz to prolong the battery life but didn't help much. Standby battery drain was so bad which I assume is an issue with the Exynos chip.
