Do not support Tile until they create a product that allows users to replace the internal battery. The life span of these is 3 years then you have to throw them out.

    • +5

Get the pro as the battery's replaceable.

The Tiles I have can replace the battery. But I want to say the things like Apple Airtags are far better cos most use cases because basically everyone has an iPhone and nobody (around me, anyway) uses the Tile app.

So Tiles are fine for finding lost things within phone /Bluetooth range but you are unlikely to be able to make YouTube videos about finding lost luggage.

      • +1

I don't own any iOS devices, so an airtag was not an option for me unfortunately. Tile did come out as the best option, but it is far inferior. I primarily use the wallet one to check if it is indeed nearby as I constantly misplace my wallet, so it works for my uses, but for proper tracking, I doubt it would be that effective.

      • Can’t believe they are still alive…I used to have these sad things….absolutely hated it. Not only they are not useful (hardly ever you will find it via the app), they make annoying loud noise if you put them in your back pocket and butt press it accidentally (happen way more often than you think it would)……

        • The noise thing is my biggest issue with it. I sit on it at least once a day. However I have never had an issue finding it in the app, locates it within seconds

    • brandogs is a man of the people. That's why we're mates.

omg. Didn't know that. Got 2 Samsung SmartTag Plus, very happy with them.

    • They have somehow regressed as the older 2018 version has replaceable batteries. I have the older set of tiles.

    • +1

      Apple airtags have replaceable batteries.

      Apple… of all manufacturers.

      • Just like your UN.
        Better late then never

I had to break open the tile to replace the battery. When I say it's real pain to change battery, I mean it coz I used a blunt knife to try to open it and it went straight into my hand.

They should make it reusable otherwise it's just another ewaste.

This can only be found if close to a phone that runs the Tile app in the background. Not as good as airtags etc

I gotta say, I think there's more people using tiles than we think. SOmetimes I leave my house keys in my car when I go to work, and every time I check they have been located during the day even though I got nowhere near my car.

  • Can it find my cat without me having to search the house 5 times?

    • yes

    • +6

You will find your cat faster with this. A lot cheaper at under $2. No battery required and may have the same expiry date as Tile.

      • Can't you just tap a catfood tin with a fork?

        • Come on, it's only $2 per can, you can afford to open it and let the smell lure your cat to you.
Unless you have to search for your cat 10 times per day, then maybe this is not an economical way of finding your cat.

  • With the way airtag goes these guys better give their tag out for free before samsung/google do something otherwise they'll be bankrupt soon.

    • I think their business plan these days is just to hold out for Google to buy them out.

      • Interesting news to me. If Google does buy out Tile, then incorporate phone tracking from all phones, not just Google phones, but all Andriod phones and iPhones (that is if Apple allows them to do so), then Tile will become more popular than AirTags and SmartTags.

  • Awesome had mine 3ish years, I have pro version so swapped out batteries once so far

  • Eufy/Anker has launched an Apple AirTag alternative with Find My integration, Android OS support , etc.
It's called the Eufy Security SmartTrack Link.
Costs USD$20 but currently sold out, partly because of a 20% off sale.

    • Interesting new product, shame it's only available in US.
