Tidal Monthly: Hi-Fi Arg$99 (~A$0.76), Hi-Fi Plus Arg$145 (~A$1.11), Family Arg$225 (~A$1.80) @ Tidal Argentina (VPN Required)

2130

UPDATE 7/4/23: CONFIRMED STILL WORKING WITH VARIOUS VPNS AND CARDS; SEE COMMENTS

Reposting/reminding that Tidal can also be subscribed via VPN for massive savings. $1.48/month for Hi-Fi Plus is crazy value, with up to 9216 kbps
Master Quality Authenticated (MQA), Dolby Atmos, Sony 360 Reality Audio, and HiFi.

NOTE: If you are having issues with payment method, on the C.C. confirmation page, disable VPN before confirm to pay

Sign up is very easy. Note this works for new accounts only, existing accounts with old AUS subscriptions won't work and will convert to AUD when signing up. Just make a new account with a different email if this is you

1. Turn on VPN to Argentina. (Nordvpn, Surfshark both worked for me. Others likely do too.)
2. Click on deal link to pricing page, or here: https://tidal.com/pricing
3. Ensure pricing shows ARS currency. If not, try a different VPN.
4. Click through registration process on the plan you want. Note if it shows up with $145 in the later steps dont worry, the system clearly means ARS 145.
5. Australian credit mastercard worked fine for me. Trial period is 30 days, so you won't be charged till then anyway.
6. After sign up, you can turn off VPN, verify your email address (email comms will be in Spanish). Sign into your devices and play like usual, without a vpn required.

Please share your experiences with what VPN/cards you used to help others.

If you want to transfer your playlists over from other services, go to https://tidal.com/import-playlist

Hi-Fi plus is usually $23.99/month AUD.

Advice if using family plan as per outofgamut comment: Quick word of warning: when you invite “family” members to the plan they MUST connect to Tidal via VPN to Argentina for their conformation following the invite or they will get rejected. Can then use without VPN following that.

Just open up the playlist on your new account and copy all songs to a new playlist and work out of there. Or use tune my music

  • Is it possible to stream it to DAC on Windows PC with foobar like I play my local SACD or flac from foobar to DAC?

  • Anybody know a good way to convert a chunk of FLAC's to WAV's without losing any quality? Or AIFF's. FLAC's just aren't fully friendly with all Pioneer DJ equipment

  • Anyone know what the library is like for house music? I see various comments about Tidal being decent for mainstream artists and tracks. Not sure whether house music would fall into this.

Listen to a fair bit of music on the Defected label and primarily aimed at more Glitterbox style remixes.

If there was decent coverage for that at good quality I would jump on. Any info would be great.

    Cheers

It's got all of those 20 years of anjunabeats, good selection of house too I think. Just get the trial anyway can easily make a new email

      • +2

It’s just standard releases like Spotify. Just downloaded one of my Spotify playlists in FLAC - and they had all 300 or so of the deep house tunes that Spotify did. All defected releases should be there, quite a big label

        • Good hey
          Defected<3

        • Mind pasting a link to the playlist, can't see much when I search defected (maybe Brazil doesn't have much)

          Ta

          • @G-rig: Ignore that, just google it and the playlists are there

    • Thanks all for the replies…….will jump on.

Good idea about the fake email for the trial.

  • Now we’ll just need another tip for Qobuz :)

    • No cheap hacks (countries) last time I checked, and Argentina costs as much as USA.
It's rubbish interface and library anyway, Fun to test so massive file res thou.

  • Can anyone do this for me and ill pay them, i tried with purevpn and it didnt work and i dont want to sign up to another VPN, i can pay you via payid.

or i can borrow someones login for nordvpn…

    any help is appreciated thanks

i tried with purevpn and it didnt work and i dont want to sign up to another VPN, i can pay you via payid.

Try TunnelBear free chrome extension, I have no problem, remember you may have to disable VPN before click on the final C.C. confirmation page.

      • Thank you, my saviour, it worked a gem.

        • dang… I can't make it work… multiple cards, VPNs (just tried TunnelBear) always Tidal won't verify credit cards… aaaargh!!

          • @Ntsh: i used my BOQ debit card and disconnected the VPN before clicking confirm button, worked first time for me

            • @harryozz: sigh… I already use Tidal so this would be a great saving… but it won't work for me… disconnect etc can't work out what's making it not work… card companies say hasn't even been an attempted validation of the card, it's all at Tidals end…

tried on Linux, Mac and Android!

          • @Ntsh:

VPNs (just tried TunnelBear) always Tidal won't verify credit cards… aaaargh!!

After you are on the C.C. confirmation page, disable VPN and click pay.

            • @superforever: yup, I've been trying that too…

              • @Ntsh:

yup, I've been trying that too ….

I have no problem, remember don't let it refresh the payment page.

                sigh… I already use Tidal

Also you have to use a new a/c

                • @superforever: thanks… but one of those mysteries… won't work for me!

                • @superforever: yeah, been making new accounts too!

                  • @Ntsh:

yeah, been making new accounts too!

Sign up new a/c after connected to VPN?

                    • @superforever: haven't tried that yet :)
But I always get the verify account email…

                      • @Ntsh: You have to start the whole sign up process with VPN on, until the payment page, disable VPN and pay.

                        • @superforever: sorry, yeah I do that. I thought you meant create the new email on the VPN :)

                          • @Ntsh: Try TunnelBear Chrome extension, that works for me.

                            • @superforever: not for me… thanks for your ongoing help!

                              • @Ntsh: Actually up to where didn't work?

                                • @superforever: when I click to submit the CC details (after disconnecting from VPN) I get a "your transcaction could not be completed" message, saying card wrong (it's not)

Please someone add this advice to description of the post

  • Try search for Tidal on my Google Chromecast TV and it didn't show up.

  • +1

no issues for me - this is a great post too.

NordVPN, ANZ CC, no need to turn off VPN for me.

Agree that the web is slow during the process so be patient.

Love the interface, love the file quality and enjoying the new Arctic Monkeys album. Was surprised to find hardly any De La Soul on there - not sure why?

Edit - De La Soul omission is due to label dispute with Tommy Boy records (no one asked) 😂

    • surreal.. but it's hard to give up trying :D

NordVPB, ANZ CC no joy… on Linux, Mac and Windows and Android… 4 different internet connections… different cards… still no luck…

      • different cards…

        All ANZ card?

  • +1

Thanks, worked for me. VPN and CBA card

  • Windscribe and ANZ CC worked for me (first attempt) without disconnecting VPN.

  • $17 AUD a year? is it possible to pay yearly?

    • +1

      Cheap, better than $288/y

  • TunnelBear and a Westpac Mastercard worked fine for me! Thanks for the tip!

  • Working fine with visa card.

    $27/year Thanks!

    • Hey can you pay for the whole year or only monthly?

      • It's not working with visa card and to answer your question, it's a monthly payment and no way to delete your card once you have added it unless you replace it.

  • Unfortunately TIDAL is not currently available in your country.
    Have they blocked Ar sign-up?

  • Isn't working for me on NordVPN.

Edit: I gave the TunnelBear Firefox extension a try. That worked 👍

  • Just got charged after one month (Arg $225), can confirm it still works fine.

  • "Unfortunately TIDAL is not currently available in your country." - using Nord VPN

    • +1

For anyone still trying this, yes it still works, but Nord seems to give the message above. Tunnelbear VPN worked fine. Also, 99 ARS = 0.78 AUD now, as the Peso has been diving… happy days!

      • Thanks!

  • +1

Damn, just got an email saying that my payment failed - none of the cards I used seems to work anymore.

Tried the VPN pause trick, doesn't seem to work either :/

    • Same here. Any solution yet?

      • I haven’t found one yet, tried a bunch of different cards and VPNs :/

        • Yeah my payment just failed as well (ING Debit Card) after a couple of successful months. Anyone found a way to pay yet?

    • Same here all my cards have been rejected……..

    • Same… with an ANZ travel visa that has been fine for months… but the error says its a problem with my bank and to contact them, not that it's Tidal blocking it.

      • Same, I had an ANZ card working for months too

New cards I’ve tried without luck.

        ING
        Crypto.com
        Wise travel card
        CBA
        Go Mastercard

        • Any other country we can sign up through, maybe india?

Hoping I can export my playlists

          • +1

@bargrin: India is worse, because they have government regulations affecting foreign card payments.

I tried Turkey and Brazil with no luck either, looks like the devs at Block have really tightened the payment loopholes :(

      • +1

Same here, what a pain. Have called my bank and they confirmed no transaction was attempted.
Need to find a way to get a pre-paid Argentinian card I suspect.

    • I've got the same issue. Failed with NAB credit/debit cards, as well as virtual cards generated via Revolut. Seems like the card is rejected before even contacting the bank.

Anyone tried a TIDAL gift card (via US PayPal store)?

      Hoping for a solution.

      • +1

Yep I tried that too, PayPal rejected me from buying it.

        • I can't think of any other options to try. It seems that pre-paid cards that are issued in Argentina require some ID number to get approved. I tried using 'paysafecard' and filling it out as Argentinian but fell over at SMS verification, as they would only accept Argentinian phone numbers.

      • +1

Nope, tried all my Australian and EUR cards I have + Wise virtual and all got rejected with the same error. I also agree its getting immediately rejected, it never blocks this 1 AUD or 0.01 AUD as a proof.

Really annoying. This was the best deal ever.

        • +1

Revolut was accepted now with the one time usage card, will see if it really charges.

  • +3

Just got the payment declined email. Tried various cards with and without VPN. Seems like it can't be done anymore. What is the next best country to try signing up with? Maybe back to Spotify student deal…

  • +3

    YES!!!!!!! IT WORKS

I ordered a new debit Mastercard from CBA put it in and bingo working again. I had previously been using a Visa and my old debit cba card declined

I read this comment from Reddit and thought I would try.

“ There are comments around here that 53/52 cards works, yet I don't know the significance of it.

I didn't set it manually I just requested another virtual card via revolut and got exactly MC with 53 init numbers.

Also I didn't use VPN while adding this new card.”

    • +2

      You legend!

My Debit mastercard from Macquarie starts with 53 - tidal just accepted this as a payment method.

      • Did the payment go through? The fact that it accept the card as payment method doesn’t mean the payment will go through when they bill you

Lots of people didn’t go through using Revolut, which is Mastercard. Yet starling (a Mastercard debit card from the uk) appears to work

I set my 53 Macquarie card too, payment is due in 2 days. Let’s see

        • My payment is due tomorrow, so will find out. I'm guessing if it does go through the there will be an international fee but so be it.

It's one step further than I was getting with my Macquarie credit card, which was working previously but now won't even be accepted as a method.

          • @alexeiw123: The Macquarie card has reasonable international fees. Anyway mine is due in 2 days I'll post the outcome back here, hope you'll do the same! Cheers

            • @Nedkellyinthebush: I will do. Turns out the debit card has no int. fees, just like the credit card. Fingers crossed.

        • Same my account is 14 days overdue and the payment will be tried again on the 9th.

I couldn’t add any credit card before this one. Previously ANZ visa had been working for months

          • +2

            @worker: payment went through! hooray!

I'll create a separate reply so it's clearer to see for others.

        • Not sure about this whole 53-thing.

I have created a new one-use Revolut card, starting with 55 by chance, and the authorization with Tidal went through. Now waiting if they also charge in 2 days time. I did not try the normal Revolut card, which is Visa… might end up that I have to add a new payment method once per month then.

  • +4

    Great success!

My Macquarie Visa credit card has been working fine until I got the email that others have received.
I also have a macquarie debit card which comes with the transaction account. Tidal accepted this payment method yesterday.

Payment was processed succesfully this morning as 'Tidal Music Malmo SE in Sweden'. Total charge AU$1.73 (For hi-fi plus family).

  • +1

I tried with my old CBA Mastercard that starts with "53" and the payment was accepted. The charge is still pending in my CBA account though so fingers crossed.

  • +1

The coles $250 prepaid mastercards start with 53…wonder if it will work?

I have a new Macquaire card landing this week so hopeI can use that.

    • My Macquarie just worked. I think the issue is unrelated to tidal, it might be due to the Argentina tourist dollar loophole that visa and PayPal had

  • Just plugged in my Maq debit Matercard and it accepted , wasnt using VPN.

It did show cost of $225, hoping thats still ARG and not AUD as VPN was not on!

  • +1

It had accepted my Revolut one-time usage card 3 days ago but today the payment didn't go through. I could again add a new one-time usage card and again it was accepted. Will give it one more chance to see if it debits on the 12th.

  • +1

Back in business, the payment came out last night

    https://ibb.co/XpHjp7k

    • Mastercard? My next bill is due in a week or two and I only have visa cards.

Might have to suss getting a mastercard.

      • Yep Mastercard, I got a new debit card from cba

  • +3

A friend is subscribing to YouTube Premium in Argentina and got an email from them stating:

Due to a recent change in Visa's processing policies in Argentina, payments may be declined if your card was not issued by an Argentine bank.

So this would explain why Visa payments have been declined, and MasterCard payments have been accepted.

My Tidal payment on my ING Visa Debit isn't due until later this month, so I presume I'll be switching to a MasterCard too.

  • A friend has confirmed that his payment has gone through in the last day or two with the 28 Degrees MadterCard. I've been meaning to get one for a while, so going to apply now.

  • +1

Confirming my Maq debit card just got charged so I am all set again.

Less than $2 a month, a super bargain!

  • +1

Hi, I have successfully paid for Hi-Fi Plus with Macquarie Debit card today. AUD 1.10 was processed. Enjoy Tidal Hi-Fi plus!!!

  • My CBA MasterCard credit card (starting with 5520) was successfully debited today for my Hi-Fi Plus subscription $AUD 1.10!

  • +1

I too got the renewal problem email. I got a $50 Coles MasterCard, number starting with 51… Without using a VPN I updated the payment method, all good

    • Has your account since been debited? I bought the same $50 prepaid card and updated my payment details but I'm still getting the 'unable to process your payment' email.

      • Yeah it seemed like it worked but it failed. I"m out, so annoying…

  • From Dec less than $1 now
