Cheapest ever according to Camels. Has been $86.24 (third party seller) in 2020.

The 180mm plier wrench is normally around $80-90 and the 250mm Cobra around ~$40.
These are the basic handles (non-comfort or VDE) which shouldn't matter for general use (if it starts hurting your hands, toughen up wrap a towel around it).
They clean up easier as well.

I highly recommend the 180mm or maybe maximum 250mm for the plier wrench, as per my previous comment:

I'd recommend the 180mm or the 250mm (the one you've just linked) for general home and automotive use.
According to Knipex, the 180 is capable for up to 1.5" / 40mm nuts and the 250 is capable for up to 2" / 52mm nuts.
I'm not a professional handyman or mechanic by any means but I haven't encountered anything that the 250 couldn't grab.
I have had situation where the 250's handles are too long to fit in the space which is why I tend to recommend the 180 over it.

Thanks! I need to stop spending money now…

    Yes…enough Knipex deals already.

Fortunately though, I think I already have both of these.

are they good for changing washers for flick mixers?

    • Used mine to replace the shower mixer last week, worked very well

Edit: Just wanted to add that this size was fine to do the job but the next size up for the plier wrench would also do the job

      • +2

any stuff in this $10 Bunnings

  • Any suggestion for 3 set regular pliers
been buying cheap stuff but always issue when going to be used
may be their Knipex has some good deal?

  • These are fancy, but i dont think i can justify the cost for a few.

The questions are which brand is the budget version of Knipex, and if i only want to buy one or two of these pilers, which sizes will be the most versatile?

    Thanks.

finally, i am an owner of Knipex tools.

  • Ended up buying the Knipex 00 31 20 V01 Set of Pliers last night, which includes the 180 and 250 Cobras for $70.95.

Paired it with the Knipex 00 20 11 Assembly Set, which meant an extra 12% off on top.

Couldn't see the value in the plier wrench, felt like the cobra could do anything that could do and was $20 less.

Cobra can’t take a nut off without marring/damaging it (e.g. toilet plastic nuts, shower head installation etc.)

      • That's fair enough, didn't consider those applications (not something I've needed to do since my renovation a few years back). I guess if I really needed to deal with something soft I can get (or print) a set of soft protector tips (such as these https://www.ebay.com.au/p/15011368510 although I'm sure there are cheaper).

Just jumping on the pliers wrench bandwagon as well - because the jaws are kept parallel you can use them as a quite strong hand press. I used them just yesterday to press some magnets in to a 3d print, and I've also used them to straighten sheet metal

My cobras definitely get more use though, at some point I'll print some covers for them.

The pliers wrench also has more leverage. So with the Cobra you’re relying on the teeth biting into the nut for grip.

    The 86-03-180 is $129 so the Knipex 00 31 20 V03 Set is a very good deal.

May the knipex be with you ..
Cheap garbage tools cause as many problems as they solve.
At least with knipex you know it's not the tool .
PS. Order th3 longest hañdle tool for the space U can ,
    torque matters

Or it is the tool using the tool…

  • Back to $224.76

    • Bugger. I was going to order even though I am broke. Maybe a good thing.

Thanks, that'll satiate my knipex cravings for now.

  • How many people actually had these orders go through? (For this and the Wera tools). Both of my orders disappeared into the ether with no record at all on Amazon and nothing billed to my payment method.

I contacted Amazon support who were completely useless trying to fob me off to Amazon UK. I guess there's a small possibility that they will pop up later but most likely gone, which isn't the end of the world for tools that I am upgrading or getting on the basis of possibly maybe one day needing them in the future.

    • I got all of my orders through (is that a good thing? I spent a lot!). There was a trick for getting those to work. There were two particular items that would kill your order, but you could search for the same or similar items that would still work. See the original deal thread for details.

Same, all my 5-6 orders from Amazon UK in the last few days went through without issues.
Saying that, I didn’t order the cursed Tool Check kit that I feel maybe the source of everything. I’d imagine the sudden influx of orders for that kit caused some stock issues and/or glitches, especially when multiple users went on to order 4-7 more duplicate orders when they couldn’t see it in their history.
These account may very well be flagged/glitched for subsequent orders from UK.
Just my guess. It seems like people either have it happened to every second order, or none at all.

        • Also the cursed green screwdriver set

          • +1

@johnwinds: Seems I hit the jackpot on both my orders then, one had the screw driver set the other the tool check kit. Will have another look tonight.

            • @CanadaAye: @johnwinds it just doesnt like me, put through an order for two different Wera items (small but set and ratcheting screwdriver) and same thing happened - it shows up saying "Order placed, thanks!" And that confirmation would be sent to my email then nothing and no record under order in the amazon app. Oh well.
