    • could you please let me know when is the expire date? I live near by and I would like to have 2 bags. I love this one, so tasty

      • I got mine dated December 2022.

Go for it if that day is okay with you.

Order online if you couldn’t find them on display.

        • All gone. I just checked it out online. Nevermind. We just ate them in the last 2 weeks, we are kinda bored of it

    • Won’t they charge your the actual price of the alternative though? I always untick that option because I’d hate for a teenager to decide for me what a suitable alternative would be.

      • +4

For Woolworths Orders, we will endeavour to provide you with a substitute Woolworths Product where the price for that substitute Product is of equal or greater value than the Product you selected. If so, then we will charge you the price of the Woolworths Product you ordered rather than the price of the substitute Woolworths Product.

Also, if you don't like your substitution you can hop on the app and start a chat with their chat bot (Olive). Type in "refund substitution" and you can select which substitution you don't like and it will automatically refund you. You also get to keep the substituted product.

      • +1

Nop, they give you the alternative for the same price you paid.

This is considered as a courtesy.

Sometimes they substitute with something not suitable for your dietary requirements, so just wrote down your preferences in the notes of that item, or just review your order when you pick up to get what you like.

They will not charge you anything extra if it is an acceptable substitution.

Got these when they were half price recently. They were pretty awful and randomly full of tiny cut bones one of which a family member almost choked on. More bones than meat. Chicken tasted weird too. Nothing like the dirty bird.

    • +15

They were pretty awful and randomly full of tiny cut bones

They are chicken portions. Which means you're going to get drumsticks, wings, etc and thus, bones.

one of which a family member almost choked on

      This is user error.

      • I agree it's weird
The coating on these is hellla thick and probably an unreasonable fraction of the total weight

    • +1

good god, eating sardines must be a nightmare!

      • Fish bones traumatise me since young frfr

Stuck in throat too many times had to wretch and swallow clumps of rice

        • hah. imagine doing that as a kid, then finding out later as an adult, doing that rice thing is actually dangerous! rofl.

          • @slowmo: Why danger

            • +1

@capslock janitor: i can't remember if there's an official source, but growing up a few GPs had advised against that because you risk the bone tearing your throat on the way down because the rice pushed it.

idk. there are many variables like the bone size and how it's being lodged.

one of the things i find about growing up is that the information always changes… like i grew up where people eat raw/half-poached eggs and wash the chicken, marinate in room temp as part of the food prep.

              • @slowmo: Makes sense

I will say the salmonella story is slightly changing for me…

Japan have raw type chicken dishes.. Our quality ain't like there tho
And some Chinese chefs still wash chicken as part of cooking method does give different result..

Still feel queasy about raw chicken not for me

I've never gotten sick from few days old cooked rice either

These are awesome to throw in the air-fryer and then serve with some aioli & buffalo sauce.

  • +1

Anyone made these in the air fryer?

    • Yes, and in oven.
      Either ways is great.

Do not use Tefal actifry, imo, the pieces couldn’t handle the stirring of the handle.

  • back to $14 now

  • Thanks OP ordered 5; now just hoping it gets fullfilled! 🤞🏻

  • Damn just missed out for online. Will have to check local store. Store checker seems to be absolutely busted.

  • -5

Just give the American obesity crisis a thought. Anything to do with processed food? Just look at all those numbers in the ingredients list.

    • +1

I added all those wicked numbers up and it came to 4,699 which is just a cleverly disguised "for 666".

    • Numbers!!!! the devil is coming and our food standard agencies hate us all. Could it be the excess calories in these foods? no it must be the scary numbered colours!

  • Thanks OP, just ordered.

  • still has feathers on it out of the pack

  • +1

I bought these the first time they were alright I only cooked a few following the instructions. The 2nd time I cooked the whole bag following the instructions on the back and it was delicious. So I guess if you're not cooking the lot adjust the time haha

  • just went to my woolies then.. its $14.. (in VIC)

  • +3

I concur. Leaves KFC in the dust.

  • +2

Damn it! Now I have gone and grabbed 2 bags of this stuff! Here take my up vote!

Walked in, price label said $7 but checked out at $2.80.

  • +7

Mine were all out so they substituted them with Steggles/Inghams. Not complaining for this price!

  • They have changed it back to 14 now!

  • +1

Be warned the coating is salty as hell

  • +1

Got the last bag at my local (South coast NSW) no mention of $2.80 but they scanned at that price.

Went down to clean them out, I guess I did :(

  • [VIC] [SOME STORES ONLY] deal

  • Click & Collect order good to go.

  • Tried 4 different stores in Brisbane Qld but they’re all priced at $14/kg. Anyone else have luck in Brisbane?

  • +1

Not sure if i was just lucky but the price in-store was labelled as $14 but checked out as $2.80. At Emerald Hills NSW

  • +3

Checked out as $14 in Vic, disappointed

  • How do substitutions work? Can you request a particular product say $14 and they'll swap it or nah?

    • fwiw, my experience with woolies, i had an expensive item subbed for a cheaper one and got refunded the difference.

not sure if it works the other way round, if you get subbed for a more expensive item and don't have to pay, it's a win.
more likely they will refund you instead by saying it's OOS.

      • +1

It does say on their website:

If your order has any out of stock items, we'll do our best to provide a suitable alternative of equal or higher value. This is at no extra cost to you, and you'll only be charged the price of the original item. If no appropriate substitute is available, we’ll refund you for the item/s, or adjust your final order total accordingly.

        • it does say that. just sharing my experience that it rarely is the case for me.

          ymmv.

          • @slowmo: Yeah, thanks for sharing your experience, it’s really useful to know :)

      • I had the other way round couple of times and they didn’t charge me anything extra.

And I told them explicitly that the new item is more expensive than what I paid, and sometimes they do it their selves or get the manager’s approval and give it to me.

        Very nice of them.

  • Dann, no luck finding such in the Woolies around me. Which stores in Sydney have it in stock?

  • +3

OP I love you and want to make babies with you.

Picked up 7 packs with direct to boot this morning.

According to my local Woolworths assistant manager, the spicier version of these chicken pieces (Nashville) will no longer be sold in Woolworths. They are going to keep the less spicey Lousiana.

Personally I prefer Louisana over Nashville, but for $2.80 per packet I am pretty happy with Nashville.

Also grabbed some half price Cheezels and Mini Mars Bars to bring the total over $30….

    • +1

Yikes why they always got to take away nice things.

  • Got the last one in Mascot NSW, thanks OP!

    • Well that's a rip. My pickup order won't be fulfilled now :(

      • :( sorry dude, fingers crossed it gets subbed to Louisiana

  • +1

They didnt fullfill my order! Ans they replaced my 5 orders with ONLY 1 substitue

  • +3

I placed an online order last night for three bags. However, I wasn't hopeful of securing any of the stock, so decided to pop into the Bathurst Woolworths this morning whilst running errands. There were only three bags stocked (from what I could see), so I purchased a single bag to give someone else the opportunity to grab a bargain. The price was $2.80 with an expiry date of March 2023. As for the online order, I've since received an out-of-stock notification, with a single bag being substituted for the Louisiana (as opposed to Nashville) style, and the remaining two bags being refunded. Overall, a good outcome. Thanks OP!

  • Displaying as unavailable for me.

  • There's quite a lot left at Matraville. (even after I bought 6 lol)
The sign is showing normal price but scans as $2.80

  • These are being shipped across from NZ. Tegel is trying to enter the Aussie market and struggling and now they have a tonne of short dated stock they need to sell.
Not a big fan of these, quiet low quality (even if its frozen stuff)

    • TBH I think when they are $7 these sell very well.

Steggles aren't happy because Tegel are taking away sales from Steggles….

  • I bought a few packs at my local and picked up 2,312 Rewards Points in the process, not sure how.

  • I just got back from the Sunnybank store in Brisbane, they wouldn't honour the price :(

  • Can confirm in western sydney, price shown as $14 on the shelf but scanned as $2.80

    • Same, my area has shit loads so I'll not tell ya where it is so I can get more tomorrow.

      • +1

Considering how many troll comments you provide, I'm calling this one as BS. You and your husband gets $2 breakfast KFCs surely they're better lol

        • Maybe its him and his wife

"Maybe its him and his wife"

You mean me and my husband.

          Anyways to the rest:

I got 2 1$ breakfast brioche burgers at hungry jacks, no idea where KFC came into it…

But I do recall getting a refund on the full KFC item listed as 2 for 1 special on a item I didn't buy.

      • my area has shit loads so I'll not tell ya where it is so I can get more tomorrow

        Ummm, nobody asked.

        • And no body cares 🤭

        • Where in Sydney?
My store, Roselands 2196, cancelled mine.

          So Silly!!!

          • +1

@Os Os: They're trolling and trying to farm reactions out of people.

  • Made an order last night for these from Woden Woolies in Canberra. Picked up today and they've substituted it for Louisana ones! I've never had any so it's a win for $2.8!
