I was a after some good but not pricey wired headphones and came upon these. They have been cheaper before in previous Ozbargain deals, but right now, this seems a decent price.

These entry-level Sennheisers are not that great. Main issues are a significant mid-bass hump which causes the sound to feel muddy and congested. I owned a pair a few years back.

Better alternatives are Philips Fidelio X2 (fun sounding, with a sub bass kick) or Sennheiser HD560s (neutral, slightly bright treble). I would save for these instead.

    • I looked at the 560s and they are excellent, but closed back was one of my requirements.

      • Akg k371, goes on sale for under $200

    • Not that great is an understatement, i would say they are terrible value even at this price. Your alternatives are spot on.

They dropped to $109 two years ago according to a previous post.

Amazon page's Date first available shows they have been on the market since 2017. $175 for a 5 year old headphone? No way.
There has gotta be something more modern and priced cheaper that out performs the HD569.

    • Newer != better in headphones

  • I always had an eye on these considering it comes with a cable with inline mic and remote. It is rare for over ear wired headphones that are targetted at the hobbyists. The reviews of these range from absolutely best headphones to Sennheiser should not have made these.
