Great washing powder if you have troubles with other washing powder. You also only need a tiny amount so this will last you ages.

Bucket is good too, just don't throw it out if you plan on getting the refills(can't remember if it's cheaper than this or not).

This washing powder is so good, 2kg is available for ~$16.5 on Amazon

If anyone in Sydney CBD would like to split a 10kg refill, please dm

telling ya this is the good stuf

    • How does it compare to OMO or OMO Ultimate? Personally I still haven't found anything that beats them

      • Moved from OMO to this last year.. Happy so far. 2 kg euca = 4kg omo, based on my personal usage.

  • +1

Just ran out yesterday. Impeccable timing kind sir!

  • I bought 2 of these from Mitre 10 in April for $90. I think we'll be okay for a little while… or was that refills?

  • +1
    • +4

They don't seem to stock the 10kg anymore.

      • Yep that's what I was wondering. Thanks for confirming.

    • It's not on their site so can't price match

    • what productlink?

  • $59 on Amazon with free delivery (Prime) https://www.amazon.com.au/Euca-Eucalyptus-Laundry-Detergent-…

    • +1

Worth noting the one from Amazon seems to come in a cardboard box instead of the plastic tub

      • +4

Yep it's the refill box ($45 at mitre 10)

  • Does it get clumpy if I you leave it in the laundry room?

    • +2

Not in the bucket. Not sure about the box. I would assume you're supposed to tip the box into the bucket for this reason

  • -3

Nice, but Fab is $22.50 at big W for 7.5kg so not the cheapest around.

    • +1

      ok ben

    • +5

      Yeah. But it's crap

    • Yeah I've always just bought Fab since its pretty much the cheapest. Going to give this a go though. I've never had my clothes come out dirty or anything so I doubt I'll notice a difference.

      • +3

The source is euca themselves, so take it with a grain of salt (or powder)

        https://www.eucaonline.com.au/blog/dirty-secrets-about-laund…

Take the Test and Confirm if your Current Laundry Powder has Fillers:
Stir a teaspoon of your washing powder into a glass of water. Wait 4-5 minutes and observe the insoluble “fillers” settle to the bottom of the glass. A white sediment will appear like undissolved salt or sugar. These “fillers” will never dissolve as many are made from silica, yes silica powder is finely crushed quartz (also used in baby powder). Now try this test with “EUCA” laundry Powder to see that it’s total 100% soluble.

All I know is, you need a tiny amount compared to other brands, it's Australian made and it's gentler on the skin

        • Maybe the silica is used as "roughage" to try and kinda get the stains out a bit like how jiff works. I don't see how fillers would have to be non water soluble, could just add in soluble stuff and it'd be just as useless.

    • Cant compare kg price as dosage is different between brands. How much of Fab do you use per load? With Euca you only have to use 20grams for a front loader so 10kg will give you 500 washes.

Im sure Euca is not the cheapest alternatives but it sure is a lot better then most brands out there.

  • Is this good at washing makeup stains off white towels?

    • +2

Presoak in bucket with aldi disan (whites) for a few hours with warm water and wash in 60c cotton cycle. Personally I found liquid detergent breaks down faster for my towels without the roughness once dry compared to powder. Just my opinion though!

      • Thanks. I use Coles laundry power + Vanish which worked much better than liquid detergent for me. Soaking in a bucket made a big difference, however still not perfect. Sometimes needed to use bleach.

How does it compare with Omo in quality?

    • Rigorous testing by CCN (independent cloth nappy product testers) say its not reccommended. Save your money. Ill get the exact wording.

      • Do you have a link to the test report? Thanks

        • It's paid content. The testing was recently reformed. See clean cloth nappies facebook page as the admin testers sometimes post their results, just search the page for the detergents you are looking for.

        • Here are further details about the testing.

Keep in mind that its a cloth nappies group, so an excellent clean is essential. But there are complaints about smells after washing work clothes, and concern over a lack of pH buffer, which is apparent just from the MSDS.

          https://m.facebook.com/groups/cleanclothnappiesdownunder/per…

Dont intend to hate on an aussie company, but the products need to be compared sufficiently.

I've personally done a decent amount of research to find the best price per wash for the best clean as we have to deal with a variety of washing. These guys are quite excellent and my own testing has matched the results they get too.

      • +1

        Which company is not recommended?

        • The Euca

    • You would need to use more of it for the same result. Not recommended, low sudding (lower than required for good washes), poor stain removal even with laundry booster used, so if you regularly have grass/dirt/grime/smells, then youd need more Euca powder than reg/ultimate omo powder (or biozet regular). The euca liquid is similarly poor, however excessive sudding rather than poor sudding.

      • However both have a "pleasant eucalyptus smell"

  • Anyone have experience with the liquid? And compared to something like Attack?

    • We use the Euca Laundry Liquid, perfect for greasy chef's clothing!!

      • +1

That's great! Now I need to meet a chef!

  • +1

Love the Euca range of products, they are fabulous!! Previous Omo user…

    • +1

what do u love about it ?

      • We use the Laundry range & also Smell Expell (pets at home). They all work very well for their intended use. Supporting a local Aussie company with excellent customer service is a big plus.

  • I've used this for years. Excellent product.

  • +3

I heard that Choice listed the Aldi liquid detergent as best value for money. Did Choice include this Euca in their testing? Anyone know how it compares?

    • Euca wasn't tested. Choice have only reviewed brands from Coles, Woolies & Aldi

  • +1

    How’s the scent?

    It’s my wife’s main criterion.

    • This one? Strong eucalyptus. I've noticed that they now have new scents as well, but not part of this deal

    • Same boat!

  • +1

How's the cold water performance in a top loader?

    • I’ve been using it in cold water in a top loader for several years. It works quite well. Comparable to the many others I’ve tried. The smell is more pleasant than biozet/fab/omo etc etc.

  • Anyone know how this compares to Bosistos? Very comparable in price when discounts are available.

    • +1

Used bosistos before this. I think this is better. Plus from memory the biggest available bosistos pack is only 2kg? I've been using this for at least 6 years (since my kids were born and developed rashes to bigger brands)

      • ive been thinking of making our own with raw materials when i saw this

        2 cups baking soda
        2 cups washing soda
        ½ cup Epsom salt

        20 drops chosen essential oil
1 tablet Young Living Thieves cleansing soap (grated)
Mix them all in a blender together, and voila!

        https://7news.com.au/lifestyle/health-wellbeing/eczema-treat…
        and this
        https://youtu.be/ZdcNTYizChg

        • Sounds like an enormous, time consuming pain in the arse to me. But you go for it if that's what you want to do.

        • Lol the blender will forever have a soapy taste

          • @montorola: I wouldn't use a good blender on that, hand mix even. Just any way to mix it I spose

        • Ok Walter…

      • Thanks for feedback! I will give this brand a try. Bosistos comes in the exact same size pail (10kg) but only on their website and I only purchase that size when they have 40% sale.

  • +1

Wonder how this compares for a similar price/KG for a smaller quantity?

    https://www.amazon.com.au/Simply-Clean-Laundry-Powder-Austra…

    • Disregard - the $16.50 for the Euca on Amazon was for 2KG, so Euca is better value :D

  • kiinda wish was unscented

    how's it compare to OMO?
    https://www.bigw.com.au/search?text=omo+7kg&sort=price-asc

    • Compared to most brands you'd get at the supermarkets, I'd call the eucalyptus unscented. Ad someone shared below you can get a sample from Euca

  • +3

For all the "how does it compare?" posters, the only way you're going to be convinced is to try yourself. Euca themselves do samples https://www.eucaonline.com.au/euca-laundry-powder-50g-sachet…

    • +1

Thanks, got a sample to try

    • This is fantastic, biggest roadblock to buying 10kg at a time is not knowing how good it is. Definitely a good sign that it's offered too

    • +2

How? This one from total tools you've posted, shows $70.80 for me. How is this cheaper than the one listed here in the post from mitre 10? Is there any discount code at total tools?

  • Thankyou to the op. Ordered 2 tubs. We have been using Euca powder for several years and have been happy with it. Now we won’t have to think about laundry powder again for a looooong time.

  • I dont know if the laundry detergents are gram for gram equivalent, but the Kirkland brand 12.5 KG laundry tubs are usually ~42$s at Costco (assuming that you have a Costco membership of course).
