    • Shouldn’t the prices for Nbn plans decrease over time

      Why?

      • Just like how mobile phone plans gets cheaper over time jv

        • +1

These aren't mobile phone plans and NBNCo is a monopoly.

          • @jv: That’s true about the infrastructure monopoly.

    • Welcome to a high inflation environment. Nothing is decreasing in price.

  • Does anyone know if Telstra Smart modem 2 work on AGL plans?

    • +1

It does. Login to your Telstra SM, change it to PPPoE and put in the AGL username & password given to you.

        Thanks!

  • Thanks OP! Was already an AGL energy customer and just signed up to this deal, you've saved me $192 for the next year as I was previously paying $65p/m (and for worse speeds). Much appreciated! :)

Be careful guys… I have been on the chat with AGL as the delayed connection bit wasnt working on their website and I was told they need to do a credit check… For an internet connection… That is a bit ridiculous… I need to save my enquiries for churning FF Credit Cards 😂

Before we continue, we’ll need some details from you to conduct a credit check to ensure our plans suit your circumstances.
We may consider any credit history you may have with us, and we may give your details to credit reporting bodies to get credit reporting information. They may include your personal information in reports to us as part of the credit check.
By consenting to an offer, AGL will use your details in accordance with our privacy and credit reporting policy.
You’ll find details on how we collect, use and disclose your personal and credit information in our Privacy Policy.
It details the credit reporting bodies we deal with, the information about you that we give them including unpaid debts, how they disclose and manage your information, and tells you about any disclosures of information overseas and your rights regarding your credit reporting information, including how to access or correct your information, or make a query or complaint. We may contact you about products and offers on an ongoing basis.

I transfer on sunday 8th to AGL nbn. At first it was slow with a couple of drop-outs. Then the stirling exchange had fibre line damage. Im in mount compass so no idea why that would affect me but no internet for 2 days and no communication from AGL.

Wait times are stupidly long so i gave up and transferred to Internode.

    • Just about to churn from Internode to AGL, fingers crossed…

      • After the usual frustrations, I managed to churn to AGL.
This time I had to switch my FTTP box from UNI-D port 1 to 2, as AGL connected me to port 2 without disconnecting Internode from port 1. Maybe that’s normal? I’m new to FTTP.
Also had to remove the login credentials and the VLAN setup in my router which Internode required.

        • What’s speed like? I have hfc, discount is tempting but if speed/customer service is not good I’d rather spend a bit more.

          • +1

@fozzie: Exactly the same as Internode for me.
            53/18 on the 50/20 plan.

            • @muncan: Thanks for the reply. Might give them a shot once Exetel special discount is over.

            • @muncan: Just switched today. On the 50/20 HFC but getting 30/18. Using Optus router. Would the Optus router be the problem?

My connection is live as of yesterday. I was told by NBN to configure PPPoE login details on my BYO router. This is also outlined on their website to be required:

    https://www.agl.com.au/help-support/internet-mobile/get-set-…

Using PPPoE (Your account number is the PPPoE username and password, I wasn't informed about this by AGL and had to google this) I was only able to reach 180Mbps throughput on my 250Mbps plan. During troubleshooting, I connected with IPoE and now have 275Mbps throughput. Just thought I'd share for anyone else troubleshooting speed issues.

  • I am with Superloop now and just called AGL to switch.
There is no way on AGL's website to choose a later connection date.
It's a quick process, takes me around 10 mins.
And the rep gives me $50 credit into my power bill as a thank you gift, without me saying anything.
Not sure if you will get the same online.
So maybe worth a try on phone. :)

    • Lucky you!

Sometimes it’s worth calling over online signups.

    • Can confirm that I also got $50 credit for my energy bills over the phone. This is not available when doing this online

      • What was the number you called to get the $50 credit ?

I’m helping a friend and they refused.

      Update:
It switched from superloop to AGL this morning, HFC, Asus router.
I didn't need to restart my router or NBN box, and didn't need to enter username/pw in my router.
There was no drop out. Everything was done by itself smoothly.
      it's 10am now and I get 51.6Mbps/18.7Mbps on a 50/20Mbps plan from https://speedtest.telstra.com/

      • I'm trying to move from Telstra to AGL, HFC line.
Looking forward to 1000/50 plan. I'm using TPLink C3200 router with NBN Box currently.
        Hope it works smoothly.
