  • is this going to be okay for my hot as f bedroom in summer? is it loud? energy efficient? lol

    • Swampy

      • please elaborate lol

        • Sorry. It holds a litre of water that you'll have to fill twice a day. That two litres of water will raise the humidity. Also you can only cool to x degrees lower than the ambient. Google dry wet bulb temps

@texx: gonna try the $16 kmart one. wish me luck.

  • evaporative coolers work on different principles to "air conditioners"
for instance you will need adequate airflow to make this work, and you'll also need to be aware that this "uses" water to work, which may need to be refilled semi regularly.
not saying it doesn't work, you just need to allow for how it works

  • Retails for $190 and $260 from bunnings, got this one for camp trips cheers :)

You'd say so, Qbagger2 - but nothing has come down the line from the supplier yet. Cheers, Laine

  • Can it be plugged into an electric outlet or just a battery?

    • G'day Yola,
      Both 12V & 240V available. Cheers, Laine

NOTE: these have a lead acid battery so you will need to manage that or it will degrade quickly

Good point, I noticed the ones they are selling at BCF with the same name "Companion Maxi Evaporative Cooler" for $260 is 6000mAh Lithium Battery.
OP should inidcate the type of battery this in their details. Still a good deal if you dont' mind it.

      • Thanks for the tip, Kaeiigain - I've just added all specs to the post. Cheers, Laine

          Hey Laine,
Any idea the age of this stock? IE has it been in a warehouse for years?
My reason: lead/acid batteries need to be reasonably fresh and kept fully charged or they rapidly deteriorate. I think the price is good but I can see the batteries could be a real issue.

          • @King Tightarse: G'day King Tightarse,

Unfortunately, I'm unable to give you a definitive answer regarding age of stock. If it helps, we bought this stock specifically for November sales - which has been in our warehouse for the last 6-8 weeks. Unsure how long it was held at our suppliers facility though.

            Cheers, Laine

            • @SnowysOutdoors: Oh thanks Laine. Yes its time since manufacture that counts with these.
For example, after a year or so the ability to recharge will definitely be affected. Possibly severely.
I think they may be flushing this stock out to make way for the more robust Lithium Ion new model.
