no limit on number of items?

    • +1

      ? good question ?

    • +1

would be nice if no limit

    • I only received my email yesterday, and from what I can see in the T&Cs there isn’t a limit on how many you can list.

      • +1

For everyone still reading this thread, I have sold over 10 items and yes it works undefinitely.

  • Thanks, I'm eligible, it's been a while.
Usually it's only five items, doesn't look like it specifies this time.

  • +1

    Wooooah. That's an incredible offer

  • +1

Too bad sendle is only in about half the locations. But if eligible make sure you choose the largest box possible to maximise your Ozbargain value. Load it up with your cardboard recycling as packaging to protect your item.

  • +1

Worked for me, and the expiry says 31/12/2022!

    • +1

Yes I have it as 31/12/22 also. I just listed 2 items today on eBay as the current offer finishes tonight.
So all this means is I will procrastinate until New Years Eve about listing an item.

      • Huh?

        • -1

Items listed before 31/12 are eligible for the promo. Delaying its starting date until then allows exposure during the January holidays.

          • @silverrat23: Nope. The item has to SELL before 31/12/22. I have confirmed this with ebay reps over the phone this morning. That includes auctions.

            • +2

              @essent1al: Wrong.

If listed on the 31/12/22,and sells on say 10/01/23 it still applies. It's happened to me before & still got the no FVF or whatever promo was at the time

Eligible Items will only receive the $1 variable fee until the listing renews, whether by auto-renewal or because the listing is Good ‘Till Cancelled (“GTC”). After this, standard fees will apply.

              • +1

@TilacVIP: Okay well I was told different by a rep, was even put on hold for about 15 minutes while she checked with her boss.. jeez ebay really give mixed messages to people huh!

But if you have confirmed through real world experience and evidence then I trust ya! Thanks for the heads up! :D

                • @essent1al: I wouldn't be surprised with anything eBay pulls, but my reply is from my own personal experience & T & C's.

I have in the past got some weird conflicting answers from eBay reps, though.

                  • @TilacVIP: I mean I agree, the T & C's say items listed, not items sold. So no doubt the rep and/or boss was just an idiot lol.

  • +3

Any limit to how many times we can use this, if eligible?

  • +16

Remember to get a screen capture after you accept the offer.

In my experience eBay are getting better at handling these promotions but that was definitely not the case 12 months ago.

    • +13

Screen grab + a photo of you holding up the screen grab with a newspaper of todays date!

      • +1

        And your driver's licence too

        • +25

Ebay will just get that detail from Optus.

  • +1

    This is incredible thank you

  • I don’t use eBay much.
Will I only be charged $1 fee once the item has sold?

    • +3

$1.43 if you also count $0.30 fee + GST.

      • +3

Sold something, fee ended up being $1.30

        • do we still pay a fee if the item doesnt sell, and if we delete the listing?

          • +1

@cheapskatehaggler: Don't think so. I've cancelled listings (fixed sales) without penalty. Not sure about auctions.

  • +4

Will be ending all my current listings tonight and relisting them tomorrow

    • +6

No. End the listing and create a new listing tomorrow.

Last time i have relisted the same item but ended up paying the full fee

      • Are you sure your relistings weren't automatic relistings? As it says they aren't included, but nothing about manually relisting?

        • +2

You like to live dangerously it seems 😉

        • +3

No it wasnt automatic relist. I ended the existing list and just clicked on relist.

When you do this the promotion dont apply by ebay system. I had chat, escalated, but they still charged me the full fee for the item i have sold on that day, was about $3400 (camera). Fee was about $350

So please create new listing tomorrow.

        • +2

I did a manual relist after a buyer didn't pay initially (going into cancelled items and clicking the relist button) and eBay still charged me sale fees when that item sold again. Had to hit up support to credit me fees "as a goodwill gesture".

So yeah don't use relist. I've heard others have had success with the "Sell Similar" feature instead, but personally I've stuck to copy & pasting listing details into a brand new listing… Hasn't failed me so far!

          • @toomuchdogfur: Okay thanks guys. Sucks that their fine print doesn't stipulate this. Will just take me a lot longer now haha. Appreciate the heads up!

            • +1

@essent1al: You can make it much easier by going to the ended listing (in Unsold) then click on "Sell it yourself" either in the drop down list or below the listing images.

              • @MiscOzB: Thanks, but it doesnt include the photos into the listing.

What if I just click "sell similar" on the ended listing? Thats not the same as relisting is it? Even though the ad looks exactly the same with everything including the photos pre-filled..

                • +1

@essent1al: Ah yeah forgot about that, I just save the images to my computer again if needed and reuse. This acts as a new listing, not a relisted item.

                  • @MiscOzB: Yeah I deleted the photos once I listed them - was gonna be a pain to retake or redownload them individually from the ads.

Okay fantastic I'll just sell similar then. Thanks, friend!

                • +1

@essent1al: And sorry didn't notice the wording is slightly different, yep "Sell similar" is the same as "Sell it yourself".

Edit: Actually no, they're not the same, "Sell similar" pre-fills all the info the listing had before ending (excluding images), the latter only pre-fills the title and item specifics. So the former option is the way to go.

            • +1

@essent1al: Cancelling my listing (any reason, doesn’t matter), then - as mentioned - clicking the “Sell similar item” button has worked every time for me 👍 I always choose to keep the photos from the previous listing, too, and this doesn’t make a difference, either.
No farting around with uploading the same pics or copy+pasting the old listing description = huzzah 🙌

              • @del preston: i do the same thing, sell similar and use same listing, then save as draft, delete original one, then goes back to draft and relist it. if doesn't sell, i change price with every sell similar relist.

    • Thanks OP. I was told via Live Chat that it needs to be a completely new listing, not a Relist or "Sell Somthing Similar".
I got caught out last week on an older promotion, but they refunded me for the sake of goodwill.

      • +2

But sell similar is a new listing, that just doesn't make any sense..

        • I had this same chat with eBay support, they said Sell Similar "should" work but mostly likely won't work due to system setup. In these cases you'd have to request a manual refund which is painful and also may vary in outcome.
It's just safer not to use it sadly .

I used it last promotion and they confirmed that it was not going to work so I cancelled and started again.

          • +1

@cook99: How is it any different from just clicking "Sell similar" while viewing somebody elses live listing? You're still creating a new listing right?

            • @essent1al: It's no different in reality, but on their system it is.

              • @cook99: Well all I can go off is their T & C and what their rep told me which is a recorded phone conversation, they will have to do the right thing

                • +1

@essent1al: You should be okay then, just sharing my experience, here is my chat transcript:

                  eBay team:
The item has been listed using the seller similar option and hence this is not considered as fresh listing during the promotion, This will not consider under the eligible item for promotion. I would suggest you to end this listing and list the item again as fresh listing. Rest all the details are correct.

                  Me
Does the terms state o can't use sell similar?
It only says I can't use relist?

                  eBay team:
Yes, you are correct. However the sell similar items are also considered as the relisted item by the system automatically and hence there will be error in applying the promotion and hence we have suggested you to update the listing as fresh listing.

      • +3

I can confirm sell similar still works, sold something just earlier after using this method to list again and the payment is the full amount @essent1al @cook99

        • +1

Thanks dude. I discovered using new listing now does a search for similar listings anyway which can then be used to copy all fields which also works for the $1 promo.
Good to know sell similar is good though, shame chat support are so misinformed

          • @cook99: Like all chat support, they only know what they're taught. So if training/comms suck, then so does their output. Quite often it's up to the customer to do the training (not ideal)

  • +1

    omg are there any limits???

  • Wow, so good!!

  • +5

    Excellent!

By the way, before you start getting excited about cheap Sendle postage… I've had nothing but bad luck with them. I tried using them twice, and been burnt twice.

Item #1 got lost. Their lost item form takes about a week and a half to "process", and then you have another maze of menus (very easy to click the wrong thing) to actually claim the parcel value once it's confirmed lost. It's been over a week since I put the (second) claim in and it still hasn't been paid out.

Item #2 I dropped off at a Sendle hub, and it took a full two weeks before their "courier partner" bothered picking the parcel up to get it moving. Of course that's long enough for the buyer to claim an "item not received" complaint, but fortunately they were a reasonable person and saw that I was doing the best I could by pestering Sendle to DO THEIR JOB, and we're both resigned to watch Sendle plod along. At least we would if their tracking is anything more than "we've received your parcel to send" and "it's being delivered today", which it isn't.

    Sendle, never again!

    • Man that sucks. I've lucked out. Have sent out about 100 items using the cheap labels on ebay and haven't had a problem yet. I've mostly dropped off items at the hubbed locations though.

    • +1

      Are you sure?
Sendle has an automatic action in place to avoid the not picked up.
This kicks in after two days, not two weeks.

      • It's great if it kicks in, but someone has to still come pickup lol. I've used them plenty of times, and they're hit and miss. Once waited nearly a week for 3 items to be picked up haiyaaa

    • +1

Used for ~200 packages over rhe last 3 years and never a problem. Except 2 delayed pick ups (collected the following day) and one small parcel that was temporarily lost in a truck (3 days).

  • +5

can someone explain this deal - so do you get charged $1 all up for the auction of an item as opposed to their usual exorbitant % fees?

what's the free postage label? you don't have to pay shipping?

    • I wanna know too

    • +1

so do you get charged $1 all up for the auction of an item as opposed to their usual exorbitant % fees?

Correct. Fee is capped at $1.30 as reported above.

  • I've accepted the offer, but it hasn't shown in the promotions part of "My Selling". Maybe it will tomorrow, but if it's not there, then I can guarantee it's not active. Everything that has shown in the promotions section has worked fine.

  • Is this unlimited amount of sales, until December 31st, for $1?
… and is it auctions or 'buy it now' ?

    • +1

Read the t and c its auctions and buy it now :)

      • cheers!.
I'm dyslexic and I still cannot see how many of these can be used over the 2 month period though

  • +1

Wait a sec, If I have a $1500 item to sell the only fees will be $1. What's the catch? Newbie here

    • +3

Usually ebay charge you about 13% for the fee. So instead of paying 13% of $1500, you only pay $1 thats it when your item gets sold.

      • Thanks for confirming, I have some big ticket items to sell. My time is now!!!!!

  • +5

Make sure you end your current listings and create them again. Do not click on relist.

  • Don't we still need to pay the huge final value fee %?

    • Nope, this deal makes it just $1.

      • how many listings over the 2 months, do you know?

        • Seems unlimited - can't see any limit mentioned in T&Cs.

          • @MiscOzB: that's absolutely wild if so, 2 months of near free listings!?

  • +2

A flat $1 final value fee is an enormous improvement on also 14%. The problem is Ebay has a monopoly. There are a few alternatives but items take much longer to sell or you have to deal with shady individuals who don't value your time.

  • Brilliant, worked for me, was waiting for this to unload a lot of stuff, Op 👍

  • +1

It's live in my app! Looks like no limit - that's INSANE

Deal of the year contender I say fouiyohhh

  • "Once you have accepted the Promotion, it will be automatically assigned to your account and will be visible within My eBay. The Promotion will only apply to Eligible Items listed using the eBay account the Promotion is assigned to. "

The promotion isn't appearing for me in My Ebay, even after I've accepted it. Anyone else?

EDIT: Nevermind, just went live once it ticked past midnight! Time to offload some stuff!

  • wow it's actually unlimited, that's insane

  • +2

    Sendle deets:

"If you are in a Sendle eligible location and the buyer address is not a PO Box address, we will automatically email you a FREE Sendle drop-off postage label when your next item sells in November 2022. "

    Things to note
    1) It's drop-off, not pickup
    2) Parcel Lockers are also a NO GO by Sendle. I've had heaps of problems with buyers putting Parcel Lockers + PO Boxes as addresses even when I ask them not to in the listing. eBay Customer Support advised that if I change the address when printing postage label (eg from supplied PO box to an address received via eBay messages), I will lose eBay seller protection.

    • So what do you do when they list a PO box? Does ebay come in to change the delivery address for you? Or did you end up having to post via Australia Post?

I think this has happened to me once, lucky it was a small package so only cost me $10 to post with AusPost vs $6 SENDLE

      • Sendle/eBay postage label page won't accept the address so you can:

        1) Post if via Aus Post to the supplied address, losing any Sendle-related promotions and keeping your eBay seller protection, or
        2) "Edit" it via that same postage label page to a valid address, keeping the Sendle-related promotion but losing your eBay seller protection.

Customer Service reckons the only way to keep both eBay seller protection and Sendle-related promotion is to cancel the sale (due to "incorrect address details supplied by buyer") and then re-sell the item to the buyer (!). I've had a few reps confirm this, and also confirm that as a seller you don't lose any reputation doing it this way since they themselves suggest this as an optimal solution (!!!).

  • +1

    Thanks OP

  • You can set P.O. Boxes as not an acceptable address when you list the item. Its in the excluded locations list. Stops the parcel lockers.

  • I'm actually surprised people here are using ebay to sell still, I thought ebay was basically dead for private/non store sales?

    • +2

The fees suck, but you don't get mucked around.
I was using FB marketplace for a while -> But it's full of bullshit artists and arseholes who offer you $50 for a 1 year old iPad…

    • It's the only way to sell for most collectibles etc. Easy way to get a worldwide audience.

Really depends on what items your buying. Eg. I'd never look on eBay for a used fridge or dining table, but would be the first place I go looking for a specific collectible.

    • EBay's way better. No BS time wasters, easier to sell and higher prices. I only list when these promotions are on though.

  • Thanks. Will look into this.

  • Thanks OP!

  • If it’s sendle only…that sucks…and if they lose it I assume it’s not guaranteed by eBay

    • I don't think it's sendle only for the $1 fees?

    • +2

I believe the sendle promotion is a separate promo and not directly linked to the $1 promo

  • Good offer. Now i need to work out how to list things for free. I try to list something and it automatically says $1 to list, even though the T&Cs say $1 is for listing in a secondary category, but I am not using a secondary category.
