Hi everyone,

It's Peter from OECK here. We are running a special which gives customers a further 15% discount on all of our VPN plans. All plans come with our automated residential IP network for automatic channel unblocking within the VPN itself. Coupon will work on both plan and prepaid. We offer a 30 day money-back guarantee if you are not satisfied with the service.

Pricing with coupon code is as follows;

1 Month - $9.95 USD $8.45 USD
6 Months - $53.73 $45.62 USD
12 Months - $83.58 $70.96 USD

Oeck is a new type of VPN with industry-first features. We own all of our own hardware and do not use hard drives at all. Our VPN nodes are RAM only and we do not log user VPN traffic or activity. Our system is highly automated so that you don't need to go server surfing to find a server for channels such as Netflix, Hulu, etc. Simply connect to the VPN region closest to you and we take care of the rest. We have 30 Netflix regions available and many other streaming services which can be independently set. We do not support BBC at this time.

Out of interest why no BBC IView?

      Hi elitistphoenix,

We've never been able to automatically unblock it through our automatic system consistently enough over most devices to be happy with the result. Though we can get it to run for some users, we don't 'officially' support it.

      Regards,
      Peter @ OECK.

  • Hi Peter - might be a silly question but is there a listing of regions available through OECK?

This VPN service has intrigued me and understand at a high-level, the premise around "connect to your closest" and set up channels etc. but for the life of me cannot find a listing of regions available to connect to? I am also assuming (and could likely be 100% wrong) that the channels set up for streaming services can also be utilised to connect to for general web usage (i.e. like 'traditional" VPN services, where my traffic appears to be from that country/region)?

      Hi spikiii,

Not a silly question at all!

So, we have our system set up in 2 different ways. The first is we have a VPN network which is what our customers connect to. The regions available for this network are Melbourne, Sydney, Seattle, Amsterdam and London.

The second network we have is our residential IP network. Our customers do not directly connect to this network. However, via settings in their device profile, our customers can set regions for certain streaming services. These services are then accessed via residential IP addresses. The good thing is, you can connect to Melbourne and get US Netflix ( or any Netflix region you set ).

We offer 30 regions for Netflix and we automatically unblock other streaming services.

You can not use the residential network for general web usage as you have asked, unfortunately.

      Regards,
      Peter @ OECK.

  • Good deal, shame I just topped up my subs with mullvad otherwise i'd take this

      Hi bisaya,

Thanks very much for the upvote and comment. On the bright side, Mullvad is actually a good VPN provider. So at least your money was not wasted. Hopefully we will catch you next time :)

      Regards,
      Peter @ OECK.

These guys would have no problem getting employment at Optus with their poor security.

    Look elsewhere.

    • +1

      Please elaborate.?

      • -4

They can audit their own system and find the problem themselves. :)

That said, they shouldn't charge a premium if they can't unblock BBC iPlayer or offer wireguard protocol.

If you are aware of some security issue, then you should speak up here and now, why would you allow customers (and potential customers) be at any risk?

So, unless you are full of s#*t, speak up kiddo..

          • @Grish: Hi Grish,

His issue was that the username is not case-sensitive. This is not a security issue.

            Regards,
            Peter @ OECK.

              @OECK:

His issue was that the username is not case-sensitive. This is not a security issue.

Imagine getting this response from your bank, ato etc.

              • +3

                @soda-pop: Not an unreasonable response.

If the password wasn't case sensitive then fair enough, that's a significant design flaw.

It's like email addresses are case insensitive, because traditionally they're 7bit, not 8 bits and the 8th bit is the case bit, which IIRC IBM used to strip.

Good on you for poking around, but unlike so many in the security industry, try to remain humble, as there's already so many egos whose actual knowledge is inversely proportional to what they think.

      Hi soda-pop,

If you're aware of a security issue, you should let us know so we can fix it. That said, we are not aware of any issues. If you're going to make the claim, you need to back it up.

You should practice responsible disclosure if there is indeed an issue.

      Regards,
      Peter @ OECK.

      • Private message sent.

          Hi soda-pop,

Thank you for sending me a private message and practising responsible disclosure.

Regarding your concern, the username for the user not being case-sensitive is not a security issue or poor security. This is not a problem. It would be appreciated if you were to modify your original post to reflect this.

          Regards,
          Peter @ OECK.

  • Just a bit curious about the services. For e.g., the content filtering (via Cerberus) - From reading the info, it seems like the content filter is device level only and applies only if the device connects to the VPN. If you were using this to protect a child's tablet, the child could circumvent by not connecting to the VPN. Is that correct? This is not a router level content filter?

    • Hi randombrick,

It is device-level filtering, that's correct. However, if you were to put the VPN in your router, the filtering will also apply. So you can lock down your network if you like, or apply it to certain devices. You can even put it on the router, then create a new profile without filtering and connect to that profile with a device, thus, circumventing the filters in the routers rule set.

We can help you with this if you need via support tickets.

      Regards,
      Peter @ OECK.

      • Excellent!!

Do you have a list of streaming services and regions for each? For e.g. can I do Spotify through, let's say, India.

  • Given the rise of the $USD compared to most other currencies, including the $aud, do you really need to charge in $usd?

    • Hi M00Cow,

Our business is based in Hong Kong, as crazy as it sounds, it's to protect the privacy of our users. Due to this, we pay all of our bills in USD and charge in USD like most of the other VPN services on the market. We actually can't charge in AUD, but even if we could, it would just mean the price will reflect what the USD price would be at that point in time.

      Regards,
      Peter @ OECK.

  • great - i've been meaning to ditch nord and signup, this was just the prompt needed.
