Was there today, nothing special IMO. Shame to see it go though, was refurbished not too long ago and was handy.

  • Closing Down Sale was also at Chatswood but nothing special there.

    • Which Chatswood store is closing down? The Chase or Westfield store?

      • Westfield according to the store stock checker.. I'm still hoping for some cheap AAA Eneloops but no luck =(

        • Is the Westfield store a franchised one? I recall it being excluded from some sales.

  • Do they have a sale on HDDs as well?

my 1.5tb hdd's dying.. need to get it replaced soon.

    • yes everthing

    • Seagate USB3.0 1.5 TB Pocket HDD $137 they are selling

  • all the good stuff is behind the counter, going by past experience.

eh…whats the point of this thread ? did you get a specific bargain ?

The Macquarie store has been "closing down" for about 3 weeks now. That and a number of other locations.

    Not everything half price.

    • Read it like this;

(some things) Half price, everything must go.

      • -1

        but mostly 40% - 50% off

        • Is phone 40-50%, if not most popular stuffs are not.

  • dont be fooled if you dont see what you are after, actually go and ask the staff, there is probably stuff in the storeroom or out back.

    • +7

.. or in the employees backpack.

      • The American Company Hilco who is in charge of the closing process of all closing stores will not permit staff to reserve stock for themselves. End of story.

All items in stock after the first 1-2 weeks should be entirely on the shop floor with no stock out the back.

I speak from experience as my large store has already closed.

Officially yes, but doesn't stop employees "holding" it for friends and family members…. Put all the good stuff aside and get friends to come in to buy…. Expect to see stuff on ebay…

        • Not really. considering i went instore only to find that most stuff is around 10-20% off. the stuff that is 30-50% off is already so marked up you can still find it cheaper elsewhere. I guess u have to wait till the last few weeks when they have 70-90% off. then it reaches good to bargain prices.

        • +1

agree, majority of the stuff there are still very pricey, cannot find anything worthy to buy

        • +1

went past Chatswood store on Saturday. No real bargains there…. It looked as if they've marked up the price and then offering discounts!

  • -1

yea it would be a good time if you work in a DSE, i would snap up some bargains myself.

    • +4

with an unsure future, I don't think they would have the disposable income to buy much.

So many Dickie stores closing down. My local one is going too.

Maybe the Dick <insert crude joke here>…

  • the TVs was on 5% initially then 10% last week.
how about now? any good ones?

    • not very good prices.. saw the Samsung plasma which was posted on here from BBB for $799 or something, it was on sale for $1050 or something like that.. no real bargains in TV's. Even the VIVO was around $400.

  • I was there last week and it's really just crap left, blu rays and DvDs were 40% off but Amazon is still cheaper…

    • +1

Something really wrong when you have having a closing down sale with "20% to 40%" discounts etc and other stores (like Amazon) are still cheaper.

  • Wonder if they have any Galaxy S3 in stock (probably not).
$600 for Aus stock in Blue would be crazy.

    • nope. and wont get any new stock in either

  • +1

I think the title should be changed to reflect the actual discounts. Very misleading OP.

Even though DSE is on its last legs, its become more like a HN store.
    Markup 50%, then discount 40%.

    • So you can't wait for all the stores left to close to grab a bargain?

  • Pretty much everything is gone now. They did have some External HDDs but I think they were all at the low end (i.e. 500-1.5TB)

Really ironic that DSE is closing down given that North Ryde is a tech park.

    • Yes. but have you seen how overpriced DSE was? No wonder they are closing down. Their 20-40% prices are still more expensive than a lot of other stores. I feel sorry for the staff but the DSE pricing has been just crap most of the time.

I actually seen them mark up the Sony KDL55ex720 which is a clearance product to $1999. even sony has the rrp as $1850. the price is now back down to 1599

  • I just bought a 2TB WD My Book for $132.30. I reckon it's not a bad price for something that is RRP 289 and cheaper than anything on static ice at the moment.

They had about 10 left when I was there at lunch time.

  • All good Dicks must come to an end.

  • any good camera deals?
