Good deal. However I found this modem easily drop out connections. Anyone has similar experience?

I wonder how different that is to my current modem which is a Optus MW41 but mine is black instead of white.

It can be unlocked. My MW41 can handle up to 15 devices (mine shows up to 15 not sure why it says 14 on this advertisement).

Doing a speed test whilst in an area of poor reception and running on battery will cause the modem to shut down.

It regularly crashes and requires resetting. The software version on mine is MW41_MZ_02.00_03

Whilst streaming movies on the TV the stream occasionally glitches and pauses every few seconds. Resetting the modem fixes it.

It's a Category 4 device and can have a theoretical maximum speed of 150Mb/sec but rarely exceeds 20Mb/sec.

It does not use the 5Ghz wi-fi so if you're using it in a wi-fi congested area speeds will be lower.

I paid $9 about 4 years ago and have since replaced it with another one but as I've got a free SIM from another deal I'm using it again.

  • If anyone gets one can they check if the spelling errors have been fixed. The word Band is spelled as Bnad when using the 1800Mhz Band.

Could be for the latest Optus reality show.. "Hack party.. 15 gigs, 14 devices". Any team who manages to steal the other teams data within those limits gets a free bag of lollies.

  • Hi, could it be used with other Telco's SIM?

    • Yes I've got a Boost SIM in it. It needs unlocking first.

      • How much it costs to unlock it ?

        • +1

It cost very little maybe a couple of dollars. I can't find the email from the supplier as it was a few years back.

There's a few on Ebay advertising unlock for $1.70.

If you buy one check first to see if it's not already unlocked.

  • It is locked to Optus only ?

Don’t do it. The SIM comes with it is likely to be faulty. You won’t be able to get the 15GB data without going through a complaint with TIO. Not worth it for just the 4G wifi modem that is locked to Optus.

  • Did anyone buy one, is it unlocked?

  • Woolworths now has this for $29 in store.

    Check stock via link https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/185128/opt…

I just got one and it works using my existing Catch mobile SIM which is under Optus network.
