I haven't seen an Amaysim freebie for several months now, but this one is only $3 after cashback via Cashrewards. If 15GB is sufficient and you don't need any international call and text inclusions, you could save a further 60¢ and opt for the next plan down. Note the Special Terms on the Cashrewards site.

For those unfamiliar with Amaysim:

• They use the Optus network. This plan offers 4G, but not 5G (need to stump up a lot more $$$ for that).
• VoLTE and VoWiFi appear to be available.
• Their number choice system (assuming that you want a new number) is one of the better ones.
• If you opt for a new number and physical SIM it'll most likely arrive already activated, but you can generally get those "lost" days back. (It's often automatic, triggered by the first use.)
• eSIM is available.
• Don't forget to make sure auto-recharge is disabled. (Who wants to pay $30 per 28 days ongoing?)
• Once out of credit, "As You Go" lets you retain the service in a receive-only state for a further 12 months.

  Thanks Op, handy for sim slutting.

  To avoid the sim being delivered already activated say you are porting even if you aren't. You can still activate with a new number later.

    I did this once, but IIRC the new number then had to be one of those on offer. The ability to search for a number that included up to five desired digits was lost.

  Looks like a $20 promo code is automatically applied to the cart, which isn’t listed on CR. As per the terms, cashback may not be eligible if a coupon code is used that is not listed on CR.

  Too early in the month to try this as they might have another offer where they pay you. There is a high probability of this occurring since Optus is bleeding customers.

  Note: You can only get one cashback a month.
