And since it always get asked:

Is this easy to install? Yes, if you are replacing an existing deadbolt all you need is a screwdriver. (Note that this isn't a deadbolt in that there is no way to stop it being unlocked from the inside). If you have a mortise lock this wont work for you. If you aren't replacing, it'll be a little more work. You can get door lock install kits from the hardware store to help, or just leave it to the professionals.

Can I install it on (insert door here)? The locks work with door thickness between 35mm and 55mm. and a backset of 60mm or 70mm. If you can work with that, good chance the answer is yes.

Do I need Wifi/Bluetooth/Phone etc to unlock? No, once set up the lock will work independently with fingerprint or PIN whether it has internet or not.

What if the battery is flat? There is a USB port you can plug a powerbank into for emergency power if you ignore all the notifications that your battery is going flat and should be recharged.

Homekit? No.

Home Assistant? Yes, though depends on your installation as to how difficult to set up.

  • How would this smart deadbolt compare against the U-tec Ultraloq U-Bolt Pro?
Would be interested to know if anyone has had both.

    • I've been researching too and the Ultraloq is consistently rated highly by review sites and at a lower price, but I have concerns about its long term reliability, especially with android phones

      • if zwave isn't important, the eufy lock for an extra $30 is worth it as it's waterproof imo.

edit: home automation was available this year too, so you can unlock your door and make it so lights turn on etc.

        https://github.com/fuatakgun/eufy_security

    • I have an early Ultraloq and it's rubbish. Just plugging the hole in the door I made for it.

  • Really keen to get one, but that is a major concern after I have googled around:
This is NOT a deadbolt, meaning it can be open from inside directly, beside the possible home insurance problem, it is certainly a security downgrade from the deadbolt.

Anyone can tell me if there is a way we can set the lock to remain locked even turn that switch from inside please? Through the app or other mechanism? Thank you!

    • You're correct, don't buy it.

    • +1

I thought about this too. Then I realised there are other doors in the house that are also openable from the inside, like the garage.

    • Although it won't prevent you from unlocking from the inside, it will alert you to when someone is unlocking form the inside, so at least you know if an intruder is leaving and when, so you can action accordingly

    • Only bad thing about it. Had to put a latch on the gate so kids can’t open it from the inside.

    • I'm not concerned from a security perspective, but from an insurance perspective it's a big issue.

    • +3

Had no idea that having a Deadbolt was such a big deal for people.

I find it strange that people are willing to be trapped with a criminal in a house they broke into, not to mention the fire risk.

    • This is NOT a deadbolt, meaning it can be open from inside directly

Almost all the popular smart / IoT-enabled deadbolts have a turn knob for the inside unit. This isn't anything new.

If you can find a decent smart deadbolt that will satisfy home insurance policies, please let us know.

Hi there, can it be installed on a door knob handles with no lever or dead lock…simple door knob handles on both sides

  • Anyone with these have a 2-3 second delay using the fingerprint?

I had an old one which was instant, but the newer one I have seems like it goes to sleep after 5 minutes, and when you try the fingerprint you have to wait 2-3 seconds for it to wake up first before unlocking.

Support don’t seem to acknowledge what’s happening and just sent me out replacement but it does the exact same thing so I’m guessing it must be same for all of them.

    • +1

YES! Mine takes about 2-3 seconds before registering that I'm trying to unlock with fingerprint, usually have to touch it twice to get a read. Also, using the app to remotely lock/unlock always times out :(

      • +2

Yes I’ve learned that it’s not failing to read your fingerprint, it’s just waking up. Because you can just leave your finger rested on it for a few seconds and then it opens.

Once it wakes up, then the fingerprint sensor works instantly.

Really frustrating and I hope they fix it but it’s been like this for at least 6 months I’d say.

I wild guess here but it may be a power saving feature?

  • Oos

  • Appears unavailable 😕

What if the battery is flat? There is a USB port you can plug a powerbank into for emergency power if you ignore all the notifications that your battery is going flat and should be recharged.

Doesn't it also have a key?

    https://myeufy.com.au/smart-lock-touch-wifi.html

    • Also, you will get plenty of notice when the battery is getting close to being flat via the app or the lock itself, so no real excuse to let the battery drain - battery is removable and uses USB port to charge (unfortunately it's micro USB) - the battery does take several hours to recharge, but if you can't have the lock out of action for that long, you may be able to get a spare (they sell it in the US, but haven't seen it locally)
There is also a micro-USB port for emergency unlock externally, so a portable battery + micro-USB cable will get you out of trouble

    • It does. I guess I should have included that as an option but after getting used to the convenience of keyless entry we only take a car key with us when we go out now, I kinda forget it even has a physical key (mine are still in the box).

  • I'v got a deadlock on my door. Would I need to also install a knob?

    • I installed a door handle as well since we didn't have one, just get a cheap door handle from Bunnings.

      • I couldn't do this on mine due to a large vertical handle covering the available space. Instead I put a roller latch in that locates the door and the smart lock does the rest.

      • Thanks, might jump on the deal next time. I should be able to DIY a door handle.

  • Does this unlock with Apple Watch?

  • Will Bunnings price match?

  • OOS, let me know if it comes back in stock

  • Did some research and a guy says below, is this true?

“My eufycam homebase is absolutey sending data back to China. Potentially not the videos themselves, but it’s absolutely using a Chinese DNS server for name resolution - I have the firewall logs to prove it. Specifically, it’s using 114.114.114.114 for name resolution. This is not a DNS server that I have ever used on my network - I use Quad9 for all my DNS.

There is also a lot of unusual traffic coming from my homebase as well. It may have been infected with some sort of linux malware - there’s a lot of UDP traffic going to random IP addresses over port 32100 - this port is also used by a lot of malware remote access tools.

We have little to no control over the security of these devices, so Anker really needs to provide some better vulnerability management.”

    • +3

      Its not a logical post.

Eufy/Anker is a chinese company, obviously its going to have some kind of phone home/internet check/whatever with a chinese IP, what chinese company doesn't do this?

But the point is that he's mentioning his homebase being infected with linux malware… this just screams paranoid and he has no evidence.

Maybe he purchased his homebase from a dodgy chinese seller who did actually infect the software/firmware, but if so he has no reason to complain as thats not Anker's fault.

    • +2

114.114.114.114 Is the biggest DNS for Chinese websites, and kind like 8.8.8.8 for English sites.

  • Back to $399. Missed the deal :-(

  • Noob question: if u have a Eufy doorbell, would you still need wifi version of smart lock?

    • +2

Yes - the lock doesn't really use the Eufy base - there is one integration point between doorbell and lock which is just a UI enhancement, but the lock doesn't store any info on the base - so you still need wifi on the lock to perform all the remote functions

    • Unless you are doing some kind of Airbnb, wifi version of the eufy smart lock is not needed, the no wifi version for $199 currently on special is more than enough, why pay for the extra feature that really has limited use cases

      • which site has on special,, OW have this for 199
        https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/eufy-secur…

        • Yep Amazon selling for $199 as well. Normally $300 something but a few places selling for $199. I bought one on sale for $199 a couple months ago and loving it.

        • I emailed Bunnings to price match last time, and they did !

Got it for $179 or thereabouts

Took about a week for them to get back to me, and I thought Id missed out, but id taken a screen shot of the OW website and they approved it.

CC over the phone and it arrived instore for pickup about a week later.

I have the wi-fi-less version of this (no need for notifications from the lock, as I have notifications from my doorbell anyway) and it's great. I'd recommend either one.

  • its full price now,, damm,, missed this time.

  • Anyone replacing their current door handle with lock instead of adding the smart lock and leave the original unlocked at all times?

I am not happy with my locksmith suggestion even though he said patching it will be hard due to the big hole left by the current door handle.

Any locksmith / handyman suggestion in western suburbs in Melbourne appreciated.

    • Don't you want a handle so you can latch it without locking? We do that and leave the latch unlocked. Took a little while to get used to but a but of tape over it got everyone in the habit of leaving it alone.

    • Same here, it took me 6 hours to remove the big door handle, do 2 new bigger holes, install a normal door handle that can be locked from inside and with the exterior key, plus the Eufy above, plus filling the gaps in the big hole in the door, plus make new holes on the other side of the door. Long job indeed, quite successful at the end, when I discovered that the Eufy doesn't work and opened a warranty replacement….

  • For those who missed out, it just got possible to order it again for $285.95, showing 'Usually dispatched within 1 to 2 months;

edit: 9 minutes later, already showing out of stock again…

Bunnings through special order is the same price and they aren't on special. Other sites inflate the cost? Ordered 1 today.

    • yeah , same,, they charge an extra 10 as special order delivery.

      • Isn't Click and Collect free?

        • its not available for CC

          • @ssd01: Think it might be store dependent. Can pick up from the Collingwood store.

            • @geshc: yeah,,,, i checked Asfirld and Alexandria stores here and CC is not available

      • Free cc in Canberra

  • Sad story…. Purchased on Kickstarter in April for 270USD, received a week ago, seven months later after several notifications of delay. Installed yesterday, the doorbell/bridge connected, not the video unit. After one hour with Eufy support in US I got a replacement under warranty,I should receive in 2 weeks…. :-(

    • That's the lock/video doorbell combo you're talking about? Yeh thats a shame after such a wait. Well at least it's 2 weeks, not 2 months.

I liked the idea of the combo at first, not sure whether it'll lead to needing to recharge too often.

They also should have made the camera rotatable IMO. Unless you've got double doors which places it in the middle, the camera position isn't ideal forward facing on the side, especially if it's right next to a wall which will probably make the night vision pretty useless for distance given the IR reflection.

      • Yes you are right, I've just realised that the one in this OZDeal is the version without, mine has the camera too. I hope it arrives soon.

It is a double door, so in the middle, so overall ok. By memory, they say that the battery last 6 months, it is a 10.000mAh, quite big indeed. Worst case you can unlock with the key or charge the battery from outside with a cable. I like the fact that Eufy gives AI and video history without the monthly payment, things that happen instead with RING for the doorbell and floodlight camera I have.

  • If you're still after one, keep your eye on the Amazon listing as it keeps coming and going at $285.95 (set yourself a camel alert)
Can currently place an order for later dispatch.
