      • Hm… i disagree. I have evo at home and Primadonna at the office. The taste of Cappuccino is better with Primadonna but not that far away between two. The price difference after code was like 600ish. Not $1000

        • Open them up and have a look inside ;)

          • @tunzafun001: Noob question, the stillosa contains a metal filter but the book mentions a different filter inside porta filter that can be disassembled… what’s the difference between two?

            • @Newbie aussie: Sorry, I have no knowledge of this machine, but assume they are just talking about the basket comes out of the portafilter.

              • @tunzafun001: thanks, got it from the manual, the ones I was referring to was the Easy Serving Espresso filter which looks different to the std one…

  • The most frustrating website ever. Buggy as hell and can't even purchase.

Would be a real downer if my order gets cancelled.

Anyone else getting a spinning circle on 3ds payment page?

    • Yep. Can't reload

    • yep me too, cant proceed once its in the cart :(

  • (profanity) yes let’s go

  • I have an order confirmation email
can they stil cancel the order?

    • +1

Yes, but if they sent out items with 3x code stacks last time, they aren't going to cancel your 1x code. For all they know, you're with Downer.

  • +3

Given that the community has uncovered many corporate codes, Delonghi might as well open it to the general public and make a AUSSIEAFF40 code. Sales will be through the roof for FY23.

    • But then people will start to comment oh this is the new RRP not a deal etc.

  • How long is the warranty?

  • Anyone managed to get the bundled pack included in the cart?
    https://www.delonghi.com/en-au/promotions

I tried to add eligible product but it was not added automatically. Adding them manually increased the total price.. :'(

Why does everyone buy automatic coffee machines? Manual brew is so much better tasting

    • +2

I just got a manual to replace my auto

    • +3

      Convenience

    • +2

      100% agree..and I repair the autos.

Also love that the average punter doesnt touch the grind setting…selects maximum shot, maximum water amount…go.

Produces a nice cup of bitter rubbish.

Limitations of the design of the machine suggest choosing standard shot size / finest grind/ smallest shot volume. Do that twice..fill with water or milk to make a cup of coffee.

Or in other words…a manual machine is probably easier

      • Not really, both you have to dial in. The auto you press button to get the coffee and press another to clean.

The manual you load the basket into the grinder, grind, unload the basket and tamp (some may like to level and distribute first). Then load the basket to extract. Unload and remove the puck, clean basket, clean machine.

Time and effort to get a decent coffee from an auto vs a cafe quality coffee from a manual is valuable and dependent on each person.

        • Depends on how long you want the auto to last, and if you care about the slop that remains.

Like i said, I repair these. If you saw the brown sludge that remains in the brew tunnel if you simply let the machine do its rinse when shutting off ..you would think twice.

Also, to get a proper espresso extraction the grinds needs to be set basically at1 (there is actually some variation between machine). I set my grinder to go finer.
Problem is the portafilter then clogs. So your next cup doesnt get a full brew exposure surface. To clean this you need to remove the screw in the middle of the brew head and rinse.

Also the find grinds get behind the portafilter. So to clean properly, you need to pop out the brew piston, rinse o rings and lubricate, put back together.

If you do this, you will get a proper coffee. If you dont you will get inconsistant pucks

          • @tunzafun001: In your Opinion, what’s a good entry level manual machine?

            • @87percent: Interested also

            • @87percent: I've had the Breville bambino plus for over a year. Has smashed out 3 coffees a day and still going strong. Very happy with it

            • @87percent: I’ve got the breville barista pro, once you get the settings right…the coffee it makes is *chefs kiss

Bought it as my first ever coffee machine FYI :)

          • @tunzafun001: Yeah very valid points mate. I guess I'd rather do a big clean every now and again for the simplicity of a daily coffee rather than a manual process.

Also you are a legend for giving everyone tips with maintaining the auto machines throughout the comments!

  • Cheers OP!
Bought a Nespresso Citiz to replace my old dying Pixie.

  • why no cook top, oven, rangehood, etc?

    • +1

At some point, they seem to have removed all the larger kitchen appliance stuff from their online store for some reason. I wouldn't minded getting a new rangehood.

  • Welcome 10 doesn't stack

  • Is the soul the better machine, without going the fully expensive one

    • Eletta seams to be the bomb, from reading a review. Money aside, between the Soul & Eletta the reviewer would pick Eletta.

      It's in the comments section from this review;
      https://www.coffeeness.de/en/delonghi-eletta-explore-review/

      • Bugger. Didn't see your reply till just now. I bought the Soul.
Not keen to cancel and try to re order incase the code expires

  • At this price, very tempted in getting a new machine even when my 4 year old Magnifica is still working perfectly. So happy that my last week's pay is gone and this week's pay is not due until tomorrow.

    • +1

Mine's not due until tomorrow either. I used Paypal Pay in 4 using "cheque" which takes money the following day and it approved. Nowhere near first payment in the account at the moment as we just did the fortnightly grocery run but by the time they go to take the momeny, it'll be there.

      • Oh nos, the Paypal next day withdraw trick. Can I unread your post?

    • +7

Keep your Magnifica. Nothing has changed (except Lcd screen…that you will never use once coffee is dialled in). New ones brew coffee exactly the same way.
I repair these. Just changed a thermoblock on a 8 year old machine. It had made 5400 coffees. Simple replacement + a couple of new orings and its good to go again for another 5000+

Simple design. Will almost last forever.

      • Nice. What size o-rings do you use? Is there a service kit out there or just use Bunnings o-rings?

        • +1

          Look on ebay.de or amazon.

          • @tunzafun001: You state you repair automatic machines. I have an authentica that make milk only luke warm. Would this be worthnspending money to get fixed?, everything else on machine works fine

            • +1

@Mkak: For sure. The machine has two heating units. One for coffee, one for milk. Delonghi call the milk steamer a "Vapouriser".
Your vapouriser has either died completely, or over heated, which trips a thermal fuse.
I'd call this a pretty easy fix. Factor in an hour for a replacement. Obviously unplug it before attempting.

              https://www.nationwidespares.com.au/AUTENTICA-CAPPUCCINO-ETA…

              • Tip - the italians use sliding catches for the external case. Undo the screws, then slide the panels either sideways, up or down (depending on model)..
      • I have a 14 year old Magnifica I still use daily (ESAM4400). It still works well (although the grind isn't always fine enough depending on beans at finest setting). Do you think I would notice an improvement with any new parts or a new Magnifica?

Definitely a simple design once you understand it.

        • +1

None of the machines really grind fine enough for a true espresso.

After 14 years there could be some wear. You can move the burrs closer. But risky if you go too far and jam them together. Replacements burrs are available, but id adjust first (done via the base).

          • tip. Mark the grinders gears with a texta before moving, so you know where the original placement is if needed.
      • Thanks for the tips. What is the problem and what to do if the frother/steamer leaks water during the start up? It doesn't leak after I used the steamer and turned it off by rotating the dial.

        • +1

Sounds like one of the machines with a manual steam dial that you turn?

Bit of a design flaw. You can replace the internal EV (valve) on the vapouriser. But it will probably come back. Have you given this area a good descale?

          • @tunzafun001: Yeah it is the automatic Magnifica with a manual steaming wand. We rarely descale it so will be descaling it soon. Thanks again.

            • +1

@DarkOz: Fire up the machine in test mode (google your model). Put descaler in and pump it through the wand (using the hot water button). Let it sit in there for about 20 mins. Then hit (off memory) the small cup button. The screen should say EV1 and you will hear a click. Keep pressing this a few times. Also turn your steam nob back and forth. Let sit for another 5 mins…repeat. It might break away any scale thats attached to that valve. Then remove descaler and rinse fresh water through. Other than that you can pull out the steam knob itself and check the o rings. But be careful..I watched a delonghi expert break one off doing a demo of its removal.

      • Where are you located and can you repair an old one for me?! Only like 20mL of water comes through for any setting.

        • +1

          SA.

Sounds like your brewhead is clogged. Unscrew the single screw in the middle of the shiny disk. Scrub the back and front with detergent and try that. If not, its your pump.

Assuming you have regularly descaled. If not, your thermoblock may be well clogged as well. But try the brewhead clean first.

          • @tunzafun001: Oh my gosh one side is completely black haha. Will definitely be giving this a proper scrub and report back!

            Thanks so much.

          • @tunzafun001: Ok so tried to make a shot. I reckon it might be a little more than the brewhead, but gosh it was filthy! And yes, it has been regularly descaled.

Firstly, when machine started up, it took a lot of time, pump made noise for a while (including a really creepy clown sounding laugh/squeal), and then about 22mL came out during that process.

When I went to make the shot (max beans, full cup), pump squealed again for quite a while before anything happened, then it made about 38mL. Probably what max beans/espresso option should make.

(Also, really do appreciate your time on this - would be happy to compensate you for it!)

            • @jjjaar: All good. But thanks for the offer. Appreciate it.

Take the disk out and hold up to the light tomorrow..all holes should be clear. Toothbrush makes a good scrubber.

As for the creapy clown noise. That would be a dry O ring.

With your brew unit out, push the shiny disk down..it should slide reasonably easy. Suspect it won't.

With it down, wipe around inside the tube with cooking oil or similar and see if you can get it to slide easier. This should remove the clowns!

However, this means coffee grounds and oils have made their way into the O rings and really need to be removed, cleaned and checked. Then lubed up with food based lube and put back. Cooking oil will disappear pretty quickly.

What a crap website.. just list the things instead of having 400 videos

  • +1

Doesn't look like it stacks because once you put in a code there's no option to add another one.

Great deal anyway, scored some beans.

  • How do you stack codes? Once I enter one code the "promo code" field is not displayed anymore, so where do you enter the second code?

    • Can't stack anymore anyway.

    • You duplicated the cart tab and did it again.

      • Yeah doesn't work anymore, appears to still stack but only apply the lowest rate coupon.

  • Just found my order was cancelled, they did not issue refund or email me the cancellation. Money and order just disappeared.

    Anyone in the same situation?

  • +1

Got the Magnifica S Smart Automatic coffee. My friend paid 900, 2 months ago and I got it for 539! Thanks heaps OP!

  • Ordered the deep fryer, been looking for a decent one for a while, didn’t even know they did it. Thanks OP

Had to put it through Apple Pay twice though. Said approved but was never charged first time. Very glitchy.

  • Rookie mistake not setting corporate codes to only apply with certain approved emails

    • -6

Thats true right? It's the organisation's fault for having scummy employees? By doing something like this they harm the other employees themselves from accessing such benefits. There is a reason why it is 40% off because the target consumer for the code is much smaller compared to the general population.

      • +1

It may not have been someone at Downer that leaked the code. There have already been at least 3 other codes in the last week. They all have the same format <company>AFF40. Someone probably just guessed it.

        • So you're meaning to say someone is sitting there and trying random company names until it works? 🤣

          • @thousandsuns: fyi I'm not a Downer employee and have absolutely no idea what they are doing for business :)

            • -4

@dirtyhen: How did you get the code then?

And yet you are intentionally farming out a code for an organisation which you do not work for 🤔

              • +1

@thousandsuns: He probably got the hint from another OZB member in another deal posted here.

          • +1

@thousandsuns: Yes of course they are. I’m sure many people from the previous deals tried just that. And if you are technical with computers it would be trivial to write a script that runs through all Australian companies testing the code until one works.

            • -3

@djsweet: Figuring it out is one thing but sharing it is a different thing. I suppose 99% of the people here do not care who they're hurting as long as they can save a buck or two right?

My assumption here is that, when the organisations find out that their corporate codes were misused, they will remove the benefit for all employees and worse comes worse the benefit affiliation program could be ceased as well.

Yes deals are good and that's why everyone here is but it shouldn't mean that it should be accesed non-ethically at the expense of others.

              • @thousandsuns: Not here to argue the ethics of it. All I’m saying is it’s unlikely the code was leaked by “scummy” Downer employees.

    • +2

Do not be like that. We are a community.

    • Go use your code then instead of bitchin about it.

      • -3

Well wait and see the orders get cancelled I'll be laughing not you hey.
I wont bother using the code because it will get cancelled. Spoken like a true vulture. User name checks out 👌
Need to find a HR rep to discuss leaked corporate codes and why Downer folks aren't aware of the code to begin with.

        • +1

They have cancelled very few orders over the last couple weeks -they have impressed me. My point is that you're not really in the market to purchase, otherwise you would of done it.

          • -7

@whorishmouth: I will purchase the legitimate way when i find out how to access the damn offer from my end not scouge off like vultures because some numpty decided to be a smartass and leak a company code 🤦‍♂️
Company benefits are a privilege not an entitlement.

  • The codes dont stack anymore ouch :(
