Nikon D7000 Body ONLY $899

190

http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/71766
The above link is from a while back and is about the price being $973.
This time it's now $899!

I've been looking at buying this and I might now since it has reached under $900.

I would also like to point out that the camera "Nikon D7000 Kit with AF-S 18-55mm VR lens Digital SLR Cameras
1 year warranty for Nikon" costs $1009.

Now you can buy the lens for about $100 shipped, saving you… $7 I guess?

Every dollar counts right?

What does everyone think?

I think u buy a better lens instead of a kit one, so a body only deal is always better.

    • So buy the lens and body separately?

      • +1

Buy a better lens, not the ones that come standard in kits. Good glass will last a lifetime, a body perhaps 5 - 7 years

    • Also, isn't there tax by Paypal for payments over $1000?
So I am thinking that buying them separately will avoid tax? :p

      • +1

No tax for purchases over $1000, DWI "fakes" the value written on the box. I bought over $3000 worth of goods from them including a d7000 body + a 24-70 lense and they wrote something like $600 on the box. Despite the box weighing over 7kgs.

They do have surcharge on paypal purchases.

        • Thanks for telling me :)

        • Maybe don't advertise this fact too much otherwise Customs might read this post, red flag, and pay special attention to packages from DWI

        • Nah this is fine as it's legitimately under $1000 mark.

  • is this getting superceded? nikon 7100?

    • 7100 is getting superceded by 7200 soon too…..

      • +1

and 7200 already superseeded by d800

        • I wouldn't say d800 is a sucessor to the d7000. Its a successor to the d700. Its a full frame camera and is nearly 4x the pricetag.

D7000 is the best croppped factor they make and is aimed at the lower markets.

If the product cycle continues as it has been, there will probably be a D7100 equivalent announced in September which will be widely available by early 2013. However, it will be priced accordingly - more like $1500+ for Australian stock I would guess - like the D7000 was at release.

There are also rumours of an "entry level" FX (35mm full frame) camera (of a similar build quality and feature set to the D7000) being announced later this year. However, I would guess the initial price could be anywhere from $1800 to $3000. However, then you're committed to only purchasing more expensive and heavier FX lenses.

A lot of folks think that the D7000 (or perhaps Pentax K-5) is the best APS-C camera that you can buy (assuming you don't need a professional form factor). Bottom line: if you just want an excellent camera for a very reasonable price get the D7000, however if you want the latest gadget.. why haven't you had it for two years already?

      • This is a good price for the D7000 but I would also check out the Sony A77 for roughly the same price, it's listed as the best APS-C camera on alot of websites and magazines and has the largest APS-C sensor size.

do not forget the credit card surcharge roughly 2% @ dwi

$899 is a good buy definitely considering the one year dwi on site warranty

Be EXTREMELY careful with DWI's warranty. Its stated that they need to be able to reproduce the fault in order for it to be considered as a manufacturer's defect. If they cant copy the damage you're sol.

I'm not sure if Nikon lenses carry international warranty though.

  • Got my one from T-Dimension yesterday for $881 (had a $5.00 voucher from a previous purchase), $30.00 DHL postage and $121.00 for a Mack 3 year Diamond warranty.
Better customer service by a country mile and DWI charges $72.00 more for the same warranty.

    • I bought mine from t-dimension on the 8th of this month when DWI was $1050. I still paid mid $900s. I bought warranty a week later. I agree about t-dimension customer service. They are awesome. Ordered mine on Fri arvo arrived lunchtime Tues. Would have been delivered on Monday (looking at tracking) but Mon was a public holiday. Super fast.

  • I saw this 2 days ago and did know why it suddenly became so much cheaper theses days, was around $1100 body 2 months ago

It was $973, then $928, now $899. Hard to resist. Better shut down my PC and run as far away from it as I can!

    • Do you think it will sink further?
I've been sitting on this camera for a while now.
      Not exactly sure

Technology will ALWAYS go lower until it is dropped all together… Great price, great camera. Like Nike says - just do it.

  • I was to buy this camera i would buy wit tamron 17-50mm f2.8 which is around $309 n it's the better combination than a kit lens..takes very sharp picture

  • I paid $1300 just for body abt 11 months aga :(
