Can’t believe it’s 2022 and Adobe still don’t have for ipados:

    *proper version of photoshop

*acrobat pro (why on earth does the iPad version need a seperate sub????)

*zero option for ANY version of indesign

    -

If I didn’t just sign up for Turkish Adobe cloud I’d have jumped on this instead

    • Hope you don't mind me asking, but I'm wanting to start teaching myself some of this, looking for a design tool for creating marketing stuff.

Would you say Affinity (Publisher?) would be good learn on? I know it's about $100 more expensive, but eyeing the pack as it adds the iPad app as well as the other options if I want to expand later on.

Or do you think it would be worthwhile trialing out a bit with the Turkish Adobe cloud? Have an edu email so would go for the student rate.

Well if you can get the student rate I’d say spend your time learning Adobe - still the industry standard and looks good in your resume if you say you’re familiar with indesign/ Adobe suite.

        • Cheers.

  • Do these serve as a Lightroom alternative?

    • +1

no, it is photoshop, InDesign and illustrator alternative

      • Ah okay. Great, thanks for the response

    • For Lightroom alternative

Fantastic software - I use it everyday as a professional graphic designer and never had any issues getting press-ready art made in Affinity. Only issue I have is exporting Adobe-friendly files for colleagues, but that is a very rare occurrence that it isn't enough to warrant using Adobe on my system.

I have affinity photo v1 and love it, great value.

Slightly disappointed that there is no cheaper upgrade option for current users, I think I will wait a bit there might be better promotion coming. Still a good deal nevertheless.

whats a good lightroom alternative for ipad editing? and recommendations for video editing apps on ipad too?

  • Affinity is fantastic, but I haven't found it the Adobe alternative I was hoping for. Worth the cost, but I have run into somewhat regular issues supplying artwork to signwriters and printers that need to die cut and place things on large format printers to economically utilise materials. Even the EPS outputs from AF Designer are pretty butchered and layered in about 1000 needless clipping masks when imported into Illustrator.

I really enjoy using Publisher however, it's only weakness to date is the size of files when exported. Compression is many times worse than InDesign (we're talking 7MB vs 65MB PDF exports for print), otherwise I prefer it to InDesign.

I purchase AF new suite (V2) immediately … is worthed…

  • Potentially stupid question(s)

Currently use Canva (Photoshop for dummies, really)

Is it easy enough to learn how to use Affinity?

Would Affinity Design be the best option for graphic designs?

    • Easy to use as long as you have some experience using other apps. Not sure if it is the best, but definitely the most cost-effective solution for designers.

  • Anyone else can't find Affinity on app store? I'm browsing on my iPad for example.
I tried to find it using my previous purchases (purchased Photo previously) but then just says Cannot Connect to App Store (despite everything else loading fine).

Maybe Apple wasn't happy with them selling licences through their website and hence not through app store (dodging the - absurdly high - 30% commission)…

    —— edit ——
Also wondering if there's any further discount/option for those upgrading from previous version after browsing Affinity FAQ, answer is no, instead of this they've got the launch sale.

  • Any discounted AppStore gift cards on sale at the moment? can we use that to make an inapp purchase of the $159.99 universal licence through the appstore?
