5 year for titanium? Superflower you need to up your game. Seasonic do 12, and the damned things will see out that 12 years and then some…

      Interesting

      • US warranty is 10 years so why would Australia be half?
      • Turns out PCCG are the official Australian distributors for Super Flower so it is not a product quality issue but rather a local cost cutting exercise
      • It must be the same PCCG accountant who is slashing warranties and still not offering $0 pickups

They're playing with fire, then. Under the Competition and Consumer Act the retailer is responsible for any valid initial warranty claims, not the manufacturer. Sure, customers can go to the manufacturer if they choose to, but a retailer can't hand you off and refuse to deal with you. In the case where the warranty on the product is 10 years but they're trying to undersell that in Aus, they're clean outta luck.

I once had a stick of memory in a PC go bad after six years, it was Corsair so had a lifetime warranty. The retailer refused it, saying talk to Corsair. The distributor refused it, saying talk to Corsair. Corsair said they only provide direct warranty support for USA customers and the limited lifetime warranty was actually only five years in every other region.

So I went back to the retailer with a strongly worded letter referencing various parts of the Act. Their manager called me. The owner called me. In the end I got my DIMM replaced under warranty. Which is worth it for a $500 stick of RAM, but what a lot of bloody effort. Pretty typical though - the Act is barely worth the pixels you're reading it from, most of the time, because the ACCC won't get involved in individual cases so mostly the Act has no teeth.

But if you're prepared to fight for it, eventually it does have some good elements that might save you from getting screwed over.

Halving the warranty for Australia is screwing people over. #@$% you PCCG, that's a shitty thing to do.

Got done by PLE with their XFX power supply. They only warrant 3 out 5 years warranty provided by XFX. Sure enough PLE told me to deal directly with XFX when the thing broken out of a shy 3 years. Never buy anything from PLE any more. I can send the PSU to XFXs office in Hong Kong but that thing weight a tonne and cost the same when I bought it.

    • PCCG lists 7 years for the Gold and Platinum versions so it could be an error.

Edit: Nevermind this PSU was released over 6 years ago, I think Super Flower is just lazy in updating it.
