    Just don't drop it.

    • Your making me worry about my K5 which I bought a fortnight ago from the $249 K5 S OzBargain deal.

AGV K5 is my first AGV helmet and I expected the helmet to be light and very quiet for a $600 carbon-fibreglass, wind tunnel tested helmet. K5 is very average for noise and weight. Hopefully the heavier K1 will mean more durable to drops?

        Was probably talking about this.

      • No helmets is very durable to drops and some will even say if you drop your helmet you should get another one … but, if you do drop it, expect it to mark or chip.

Something to note. Usually AGV helmet sizing run small

    • Yep, can attest to that. Bought the K5 from the other deal and it's definitely smaller than my Scorpion Exo R1 and Arai Profile V.

  • I bought the K5 from the OzB deal a fortnight ago. Was forced to buy the 58cm size helmet as my usual size 59-60cm ran out. Can confirm the smaller sized helmet fits and even has gap to let in lots of noise between cheek pads.

    3yo helmet. no thanks.

    • Yeah my thoughts exactly.

What's the lifespan of a helmet?
I can't remember if there was a legal end of life date for them

      • There was discussion here about it but i cant seem to pinpoint it

        Ninja edit:

        https://www.bikebiz.com.au/blog/articles/do-motorcycle-helme…

Helmets do deteriorate over time due to many different factors. Cheaper helmets will deteriorate faster in general over time. Manufacturers warranty is in general a maximum of 5 years, after that the helmet isn't covered if it falls apart. If your helmet is compromised in anyway, it should be replaced.8 Mar 2020

The question I have is though. Let's say a helmet been in a box in a shop for 2 years. Does warranty start from when sold or is it from when the manufacturer made the helmet.

2019 is the year of the Phillip Island Edition being worn by Jack Miller….This is a replica that has been produced post 2019

Would you be able to check the tags on the helmet to let us know what the year of Manufacturer is please.

cool as a collector item if you get miller to sign it

    • He'll be at The Bend in a couple weeks for the ASBK race.

      • We can't wait!!

        • Just so you know the link in the body of your post is broken. It goes to a page not found.

          • @xoom: Thank you. Appreciate it. I have just relinked it now.

    • Yes!! That's exactly what a few of our customers are doing with theirs. Will be a great opportunity with him being at The Bend. :)

  • OP, question. My k5 is now 6 years old, I assume there design improvements etc but the same name is kept?

    • +1

The K5 is still an up to date model, however the production dates will vary of course. Check to see if the liner or cheek pads are starting to deteriorate. If they are then this would be a tell tale sign to start considering an update to a newer produced helmet date.
