Black Friday is right around the corner, I'd probably recommend waiting, wouldn't be surprised if it goes back down to the ~$8 mark.

      • you're about to reach minus 8 votes on that L take.

        • only cause this site is full of salty part 2 fanboys

      • +1

        You so funny.

      • Really? This game was outstanding.

        • No the game was objectively garbage

    • -1

Don't buy it at any price. It's garbage

  • +3

I'm waiting until the remaster drops below the $50 mark for PS5

    • +11

I'm waiting for the remake on PS6

      • I'm waiting for the PS6

  • too many bad reviews of this game. not sure it is still worth playing

    • +22

Most professional reviewers gave this good scores. Most bad reviews are from the player base.
IMO, this is an incredible game and as time goes on will be seen as such.

        • -1

          What was woke about it?

        • -1

Sorry I don't know what you mean. Please elaborate further?

          • +3

@BrewerHaHa: Some gamers have a conservative ideology and don't like to see certain themes in their games.

The game and story are AAA. However is a misanthropic game, very bleak experience.

            • @burns13: I just understood what he meant after readying macdiddy and your comments. It was the grammar that had me confused, they meant 'please the woke (people)'. I think i'm getting old.

            • +1

@burns13: I actually found the gameplay to be quite irritating compared to the original. Long drawn out stages with lots of filler content. I also found the dynamic music to be quite immersive breaking. You simply had to wait until the music changed to know you had killed all the guys in the area. It removed the sense of danger knowing that the music has changed so all enemies had obviously been killed, let's just run around now.

              • @laudern: Careful, the internet doesn't like genuine criticism of this game. Found the gameplay and graphics just incredible but personally I found the story was disjointed.

            • @burns13: The game and story are garbage. Cope fanboy

      • +2

The game itself is incredible. The story made people feel torn and got people talking so it’s also a success. I bloody loved it, Maybe a tad less than the first but still brilliant.

        • The game is trash. Cope fanboy

      • Correction: Most woke hack reviewers gave this good scores. Most bad reviews are from the actual fans.
Objectively, this is a terrible game and as time goes on will be seen as such.

    • +2

Some people were put offside by the story. I think everyone agrees the gameplay is very good. You won't know if you'll like the story until you play it, unfortunately.

      • +4

Story was amazing in my opinion.

        • I agree, but I'm being diplomatic.

        • You're objectively wrong though

      • +1

I don't think you could objectively call it a bad story. Some might not agree with some of the writers decisions but the layers depth in the story telling are pretty great for a video game.

        • +5

Objectively, it's really easy to call this a poor story - disjointedly told too.
          Some examples:

          • Think of every situation in the game where the writer's have written their characters into a corner, only seemingly to have an affiliated character appear (literally out of nowhere), to solve said issue. Deus Ex Machina is a real problem with modern storytelling and gaming in general.

          • Characters consistently make head scratching decisions that are there to either - a) propel the next piece of story forward or
            b) provide ideological based commentary on the current state of existence.
Both, unfortunately, clearly show the writer's inability to subtly critique the latter and
inability to understand the former and what would make those decisions illogical.

          • All the new characters introduced are one dimensional, bland and generally unlikable.

          • You have no agency- at all, in making irredeemable decisions throughout its journey and then the game tries to make you feel bad about it.

          • @hunty mcgee: "You have no agency" is a critique of every Uncharted and Last of Us game too. UC2 did the same thing, the boss asks Drake "how many men did you kill today?" or something.

            • +2

@mackdiddy: To be fair though, I never felt the LOU1 and Uncharted series were built around this conceit or at least, it certainly wasn’t the catalyst for the experience.

There is, and perhaps I’m putting this too simply, an idea with those games where “The ends justifies the means”.

While I think the idea of exploring the cycle of violence/revenge (and the dehumanisation in its pursuit) is a great starting point for this world, I would argue you have to empathise with these protagonists, care about their choices - the people that those choices impact, which is where I feel this game really alienated me.

        • We CAN objectively call it a bad story because it is!

    • +1

      Gameplay is amazing

      • Story is trash though

    • +3

Best game I've ever played. In fact, the only game that justifies my PS4 purchase so far. I'm not really a gamer, but I've tried about 15 PS4 games. LOU 2 is the best by far.

      • Those 14 other games you played must have been absolute garbage for this to be the best.

    • Graphics / animation is amazing. Story, I think Troy Baker (voice actor for Joel) says it best: you either love it or hate it.
I think it is better to go in with low expectation. I still wish we can get the all time low $9 deal again.

    • +3

They unfortunately dedicate half the game to an unlikeable deuteragonist.

    • The game is a resounding success, do you even know why there are bad reviews? Or can you not figure that out? You can't figure out if it's worth playing so this game is probably not for you anyway.

    • -1

Good gameplay, graphics, weak story, some real bone head decisions. If you play for the story it'd be a rough one to buy.

    • It isn't. Don't listen to the woke fanboys. It's easily one of the worst games ever made.

  • +3

Incredible game. Fantastic combat and an amazing story.

    • Correction: Terrible game. Horrible combat and a garbage story.

      • In your opinion. I think it’s an incredible game. It’s certainly not a happy game, but the story is very moving and powerful.

  • +5

This is one of the best games to showcase the PS4. If you like TLOU then you will also like this. The gameplay is pretty much identical but the story is massive and graphics are amazing.

    • I'd say the gameplay and ai is even better than the first. Exceptional game.

      • *Trash game

        Fixed

    • -1

Correction: This is one of the worst games to showcase the PS4. If you like TLOU then you will hate this. The gameplay is pretty much identical but the story is garbage but the graphics are good.

  • Really want another deal like: [PS4] The Last of Us Part 2 $9 + Delivery

  • -1

Been waiting for this to go on sale, although do we reckon it’s going to be even cheaper on BF?

    • Seriously though, for just under $20, the game is worth every cent. $10 doesn't even get you lunch these days, it's not that big of a saving to wait until BF considering the quality of the game.

      • Thing is, the chance of Naughty Dog releasing a PS5 version with Factions is high. Unless, Sony offers a deal to get free or cheap upgrade when that happens.

How many PS4 owners are eager to play this still haven't played it? This game is regularly being discounted.

      • Oh I have no doubt, but the previous price of $8/$9 sounds mighty sweet to me haha

      • -1

For $0.1c this "game" is not worth it

    • -2

      Avoid this dumpster fire

  • Does it have free upgrade to ps5?

    • +4

There is no separate PS5 version. There is a performance patch for PS5 so it looks / runs better there (60fps, higher resolution etc), but it's still the same game.

    • +1

Yes only has 60fps patch though. No dualshock features or additional features

  • -4

They should keep the gameplay and remake the story. A poor story can sour the experience of dedicated fans.

    • +1

It's the story they wanted to tell, and imo one of the best stories in a game I've ever seen.

      • +3

It's a story Neil wanted to tell. Troy Baker (the actor who did the motion capture work for Joel) said people will either love it or hate it. There is no in between.

Honestly, I really hope Naughty Dog will move on quickly. The Last of Us Part 1 Remaster/Remake. Then Factions. What's taking Naughty Dog so long to move on? Whether it is Part 3 or Uncharted 5 (doubtful) or something new, get started with those. Really like to see what Naughty Dog can come up with using a new PS5 game engine, instead of stuck on PS4 based game engine with minor PS5 enhancement.

        • I'd really like to see them do something new. Previously they would do a new IP each generation - PS1 was Crash Bandicoot, PS2 was Jak & Daxter, PS3 was Uncharted (and then The Last Of Us towards the end of that generation). Then PS4 it was a remaster of The Last Of Us, and then a couple more Uncharted sequels and then The Last Of Us 2. And all of these were great games, but I'd hate to see them get stuck in a rut of just churning out more of the same games for a third consecutive console generation.

While we're on the subject, I'd also like to see Santa Monica try something new now that God of War Ragnarok is out. They've been doing God of War since the PS2, so it's also probably time for them to try their hand at something different.

          • @AngusD: We haven't really seen any new PS5 based engine games from any of the first party developers (I am not certain I truly consider Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart next gen). We know The Last of Us Part 2 Factions, Spiderman 2 are coming. While PS5 and Series X brought much needed quality of life improvement (i.e. SSD, improved GPU), we really need to see more quality first party titles.

Naughty Dog, with so many people left, it has to work on something new sooner or later. I really hope Sony will bring up surprises. So far, it is underwhelming from both Sony and Microsoft.

      • -2

You clearly haven't played many games then. This is objectively one of the worst video game stories in history.

  • Not a bad deal got it for $19 last time

    • -1

It's a terrible deal at any price

  • -1

The biggest issue with the game’s story was the lack of proper representation of historically marginalised and under-represented minorities. Naughty Dog can and should do better.

    • -1

People like you are why the game industry is dying

  • -4

One of the worst games of all time

    • +1

Are you sure you didn't like it? Judging by your 84 comments on this deal it's hard to tell…
