Just got an email that Ebay plus is only 4.99 for the first year - Even though I've previously had it so doesnt look like its for new members only

    I got this offer and also the $80 voucher last month. I realise the $80 voucher deal is expired judging by the post but I contacted cs about it and they said I'm still eligible (take this with a grain of salt). So let's find out if it will work. Will update if I receive the voucher or not. I also signed up through Shopback for another $15.

    Be careful with this. Not that its dodgy, but I had seen such promotions on eBay and the actual price won't be shown until the last screen which can be different from what was displayed in initial promotion page. One time I had to go back and cancel and request a refund because the promo wasn't applied.

    Mine showed $49 for a year on the first screen but I got the email. When I clicked through to the second screen the cost was $4.99 and I got the voucher immediately. Paypal says charge of $4.99 only.

    I was reading the T&C's and not sure if they had something similar before but beware of the following (both paypal or credit card)

    "eBay will charge your account an AUD 8.00 fee by way of a separate debit for each and every debit transaction for an Authorized Amount that is unsuccessful or returned unpaid by your financial institution. eBay shall have no liability to you whatsoever caused by a dishonoured debit."

    whereas before I believed they just revoked your account (my CC expired before I remembered to update my Ebay account details)

      Had a bit more of a look and might not be as bad as it looked. I was assuming monthly charges but looks like the second year is annual payment so I guess they need to recoup something from troublemakers like me haha

    Got this offer, signed up with the $20 voucher ok. Cept they ignored the payment agreement settings I selected in Paypal - don't use balance first and use the card I selected (that has no intl fees.)

    Charge goes through on a different card, login and check settings and is set to use Paypal balance first… Guess I'll get intl transaction fees on this one now. At least it's only on $4.99.

      Looks like they took down PayPal as a payment option as using PayPal somehow caused a "payment error" and thus memberships were automatically cancelled (despite being free or $4.99). I think they're investigating the issue atm

    Had the offer for zero dollars also. A few seconds later the payment for zero dollars was declined and the offer no longer available. The payment method was valid. I suppose either I wasn’t supposed to be eligible to begin with or it is just buggy.

    For those of you who have it, id check your account status and make sure it says $4.99 per year and not month.

      I did ask and eBay said it’s a “technical glitch” that supposedly they will fix in 48-72 hours… but that was three days ago so I’m not holding my breath. (Maybe I’ll keep nagging them every couple of days though via chat each time I have a few minutes to spare 🙂)
