      Not sure if this would be a great money maker for scalpers. VR isnt a must have thing for a large subset of PS5 owners.

    You know, I'm going to give you a plus one, despite this being a notification, not a bargain. I was down on the "notify list" for Sony to let me know when this thing opened for pre-order, and they did not bother. What a stunning, stomach-churning price though.

        Nay, Sony loses on the console whereas they probably won't (much) on PSVR2.
        One of the many reasons they keep tweaking the insides of the console, then revamp model and re-release.

      I wish the same. But apparently having it wired is what enables the eye tracking tech to increase the resolution and sharpness based on where you are looking to make things look amazing compared to any other VR headset out there.

          That's literally the point. Decrease resolution for peripheral vision to maintain high frame rate, but not compromise resolution where you're looking.

    Pricey, but it's expensive technology and currently one of the best spec VR systems for the money.

    For comparison:

    • PS VR2 is USD $549.
    • Quest Pro is USD $1,500.
    • Valve Index is USD $1,000.

    PS VR2 has far better tech and specs than both of those. Everything is relative.

        Haha I got the console on release day, I just have the alert set so I know about the games when they pop up. Mostly just get alerts for random SSD drives where the poster has put 'compatible with PS5'.

      If they release a local video playing app like Littlestar for PS4, you should be able to play video files fine, but any actual interactive experiences you will be limited to PC. If modders can engineer some software that will allow the headset to function on PC at some point it might become better for what you are after.

      It's pretty good on the Quest 2 but even 3D 4k files are blurry. I like to see pimples, warts and stretch marks up close.

    Thanks for the post OP. Far better to secure this from Amazon and not have to pay up front. And, if the price drops, we'll get it at the lower price.

    Of course they had to make a charger for the new controllers… damn you Sony. Making me pay extra for all the PS5 accessories (though, I wish I never bought the HD Camera… the most useless accessory ever made).
