Has anyone been able to get the 12mth subscription 25% off ? Still says $79.95 for me

    • -1

Nope. There's no deal. All the other Black Friday sales are on except PS Plus. Are we even getting this deal? 🤔

    • +3

Looks like it's from the international PlayStation Twitter account, so it's possible it'll be using US time. If we're getting the deal, it'll likely be later today or tomorrow.

      • I figured that as well but why would all the other Black Friday specials go up except the PS Plus ones though? You'd think they'd all go up around the same time.

        • +5

It's live now, discount applied to the + membership

          • @Wunderlark: Does the discount show on the webpage or when you go through the payment? Still shows full price for me

            • @Timbo94: Never mind, the discount shows when im in the app compared to the website

    • It looks like the 25% off for Essential (base) tier is only for new (and perhaps lapsed) accounts. Existing members only get 25% off an upgrade to either Extra or Deluxe, but not to renew an Essential…

      • +2

I have an existing Essential subscription and the app still gives me the option to buy additional years at the discounted price.

        • +2

thank you! Using the app was key, couldn’t just do it via Safari

  • +1

    It's Live now! Subbed for 3 years…

    • Yep!

    • How to do you stack them?

      • +2

You should be able to add a year, then purchase another, then another, one at a time as they just stack onto your existing membership, extending it by another year each time at the reduced price.

        • Thanks!

        • Yep exactly, just keep adding another year to the cart and it extends another year. I'm gonna try add a few more years this arvo, then try convert to Extra, hopefully with a capped upgrade…

          • @morpheous82: What do you mean by a capped upgrade?

            • @kulprit: I'll let you know if it works later this afternoon… But my understanding is the upgrade from Essential to Extra, you pay $55 per year. But there's potentially a hard cap so it'll work in your benefit of you have a lot of years stacked…

              • @morpheous82: Yeah, but $41.25 currently to upgrade (per year).

I am about 2 months into a year of essential, so want to go up to extra then max it out.

Just seeing the best place to buy PS credit (either Amazon or JB using discounted gift cards seems the best, or maybe direct discounted credit via sb/cr)

                • +1

@kulprit: Try the other way around… Stack your years of Extra, then upgrade to Essential… I'll be doing this tonight, I'll let you know if I find a upgrade fee cap… Cause it may work out cheaper than $41.25 per year…

                  • +1

@morpheous82: I don't think that will work as Extra is above essential.

                    • @kulprit: Think I found the cap! :)

I bought 3 years of Essential, the upgrade cost to Extra was $123.75 for 1096 remaining days. Added and extra year (4 total), now upgrade cost is $135.95 for 1461 remaining days…

Pretty sure if I add another year it'll still cap at $135.95 ;-)

                      • @morpheous82: Let us all know how it goes.

You're saying that if instead you upgraded to Extra then starting buying more years it wouldn't be as good? You'd just pay the full $101.25 each year?

                        • +3

@kulprit: Correct, if you buy 4 years of Extra straight up you pay $405. But buy Essential first, you pay $375.79 (4 * 59.96, + 135.95)…

In theory, any more years you add will be $59.96 for Extra…

                          My plan is to buy 10 years and hoping it'll cost me $735.55 (10 * 59.96, +135.95).

                          • @morpheous82: Agreed. I purchased 5 more years of essential bringing me up to mid 2029, then upgrading to Extra still cost $135.95 makes it $21 a year for the Extra.

                            • @bluey47: Good deal but I don't think I need this many years of PS plus stacked. Will maybe just do 2 years.

                            • +1

                              @bluey47: Nice!

BTW the upgrade from Essential to Deluxe seems to be capped at $186.95 - So $41 more than the Essential upgrade… Tempting…

                              • +3

@morpheous82: Sweet - Got 13 years of Extra!

                                It cost me $915.43 total (59.96 * 13, + 135.95), which averages to be $70.42 per year - Can't complain :)

        • Any advice appreciated.
Reading the above remarks, got mildly confused.
My kids have Deluxe to June 2025. What is our best option here? Simply pay $116.21 for every extra year of Deluxe we want on top of that is the cheapest option? I always see comments about stacking 3 years. The 3 I guess is from nowhere in particular (I always assumed that was the maximum duration) but guess there isn't one as I see one of you have opted for 13 years. lol..that's pretty awesome. I imagine with inflation a year will be a grand in 13 years.

          • +3

@seamonkey: Yeah think 15 years is the Max.

Unfortunately, once you're on a higher tier already, not sure if there's a cheap way to stack outside the 25% offer.

Instead of stacking now, you could wait 3 years until it expires, then do something similar to me once your sub has expired (that is stack Essentials for 4+ years, then upgrade to Deluxe at a cap).

    • +2

Is it really worth stacking them? What if next year Black Friday it's like 30% savings or something better and you won't be able to get it because you already paid for several years? Just wondering.

      • +1

30% off is very rare for Sony. 25% is usual.

      • I’m banking it now. 25% is good especially with the capped upgrade to Extra. The way prices are moving I expect the subscriptions to increase at some point within the six years I’ve banked.

Meanwhile 30% next year wouldn’t be a massive saving over 25%, so not worth the gamble for me.

Can you pay with playstation store gift card from Cashrewards?

    • +2

      Yes

    • I can’t find PlayStation gift card on cash rewards. What is it called exactly?

      • +1

There is a gaming shopback card on sb.

is this the best discount we can expect? 33% discount days over?

    • Can we purchase PSN wallet from JB Hi-Fi with 15% TCN discounted gift card then use the wallet funds towards the 25% discount sub

  • Stacking Or Changing Your Plan:

You can purchase a new membership that will start when your existing plan ends – so if you’re eligible for an unmissable deal on a PlayStation Plus membership, you can take advantage of the special price and keep your membership active for longer. The new membership period will begin as soon as your current plan ends.

To upgrade your membership plan to PlayStation Plus Extra or Deluxe, you just need to purchase a membership at that level. You will pay a pro-rated fee to bring your payments to the level of your new plan for the remainder of the paid membership period.

To change from your current plan to a lower tier plan, sign-in to the account settings page for your account for PlayStation Network and choose the Subscriptions tab to manage your PlayStation Plus membership plan. Your membership will continue on a lower tier plan after the next payment date.

  • +1

I currently have essential so hoping to upgrade to the next one up, but it only gives me the option to upgrade for the remainder of my current sub which ends in March. If I do that, will it then let me purchase a full 12 months to start after that?

  • It would be good if JB or EB games matched this deal.

    • They always do.

      • +1

Don’t think they are selling it online anymore. Just gift cards

  • Not really any good way currently to get discounted PS credit though? Usually buy discount TCN or similar and then buy credit at JB

    • +4

Big w have 10% off atm ultimate gc. Bought and got ps credit from jb hifi.

Coles have them for 15% in 5 days.

      • How would one use the ultimate gift card for this? Is it allowed to use gift card to purchase PS gift card at EB for example?

        • +1

I used the ultimate him to buy psn credit at jb hifi online.

Can only use 1 gift card per online purchase, but more in store usually.

  • Damn mine just renwed…

  • +1

Isn't it cheaper through Turkey hack?

I didn't renew, never played any of the games.

Less and less time for gaming, and Warzone 2 sucks now!

    • That’s my understanding too since with this discount, it’s still about double the price of the Turkish sub but I think I the latter is a lot more difficult to get on nowadays.

  • +1

Seems like there's no way to renew the sub but at a tier lower than the one I'm on? I am on Deluxe atm, sub expires in January 2023, but Deluxe has been garbage so I wanna go back to Essential.

    • +1

Yeah I'm in the same boat as you, not sure if I can cancel or change the existing Deluxe membership to Essential and then re-sub at the 25% off price?

      • -1

To change from your current plan to a lower tier plan, sign-in to the account settings page for your account for PlayStation Network and choose the Subscriptions tab to manage your PlayStation Plus membership plan. Your membership will continue on a lower tier plan after the next payment date.

        • +3

This just sets up a new payment at full price for whenever your current sub expires. There seems to be no way to take advantage of this offer when you drop down a tier.

  • How long is this offer running?

    • +2

      Mine says "Offer ends 28/11/2022"

      • +1

        Thanks!

  • +2

That Essential tier is still way overpriced.

    • +3

Why is that? For $60 you get lots of good games over a year.

      • +3

Because now the only essential thing about that tier is the right to have multiplayer on your console…

  • +1

"Today, you'll be charged a one-off amount of $1.08 + applicable tax to upgrade to PlayStation Plus Deluxe for the remainder of your current billing cycle. Then from 25 November 2022: You'll be charged $154.95 + applicable tax automatically every 12 months until you cancel."

This message is confusing me. Where is the 25% off one year for $116?

    • +2

I'm in a similar boat. It looks like if you already have an existing subscription you only get a discount on the upgrade price until the end of your current subscription.

    • +confusing

some people show upgrade capped $ effect for all remaining days i.e. > 1000 days., some show only 365 days even when stackec

    • +2

Yeah ok. So I'm not crazy. Posted above as I was confused af.

    • +1

I believe you need to stack years for your current tier (Essential/Extra) first… This should be 25% off, stack as many years as you want, then upgrade to Deluxe after, which again should be discounted 25% off again pro rated until the end of your subscription period, upto the hard cap of $186 maximum…

      • Stacking does not appear to change the wording displayed on desktop web browser - per comment above

Text still shows that discounted upgrade is only in effect for the remaining 365 days 12-month (then charged full price on next billing cycle) rather than the >1000 days (+ the hard cap benefit) for the whole subscription as we see in posts from people stacking years (decade?!) a couple months ago

        • +1

I see - I've been using the PS App on Android. Showed a clear 4748 days remaining for the upgrade for me before I upgraded.

          • @morpheous82: Thanks morpheous82!
I was debating whether to jump on the hope that it gets processed in the backend on desktop browser but held off - also noted the "pay today" text wording presented slightly differently in other comments

I can see it in the app (thought I checked this yesterday in response to other comments!)! Remaining >1000 days

Time to join the PS Plus decade club and hope it does not fluctuate and leave more tiers stranding into a PS Plus Deluxe Pro Ultimax plan

            • +2

              @UsernameChecksIn: 2046? U stacked 24 years? That's amazing! I thought the max was 15, so I just stopped at 13 years…

              • @morpheous82: I have not pressed it yet 🤪😅

Entered 9001 days and random year as filler text

Maybe the date from today should be more like 11 July 2047

Ah checking again - may have been the desktop browser content-blocking the auto-sign-in rather than a desktop browser vs app discrepancy. Re-navigating on another Windows machine without having to enter login details again shows the specific remaining days. 🤦
Explains the default generic 365 days text…

                • +4

                  @UsernameChecksIn: Fair enough 😀

                  In case anyone's wondering:
                  * Essential to Extra - Caps at $135.95.
                  * Essential to Deluxe - Caps at $186.95.
                  * Extra to Deluxe - Caps at $186.95.

So if you're even remotely interested in getting Deluxe - Best method is to go directly from Essential to Deluxe…

                  • +1

@morpheous82: So am I understanding correctly that using this method Deluxe is $116.21 per year for the first 3 years, the 4th year is $78.16 per year, and then every year after that is only $59.96 per year?

I can't justify buying multiple years of this for myself but it really does incentivise going for those extra years for those who can.

                    • +2

@mekktor: Yep those prices are correct.

The more years you stack after year 4, the more savings…

To be clear though, to get those prices you specified you'd have to stack the years of Essential first, then pay the once off $186.95 to upgrade…

                      • @morpheous82: Decisions decisions

                      • @morpheous82: Are you sure about all this? I had 930 days left on my Essential, next renewal in 2025. I just added another year at 25%. It now says my next renewal is 2026. But the upgrade offer still says upgrade for $140 for the next 930 days, instead of the 1300 days I was expecting. So it appears the price is capped, but that's because it's actually not giving you the upgraded tier for longer?

                        • @Jinster: Yes, I have Extra until 2035.

I used the PS App on Android, and when upgrading to Extra, it had a clear "$135.95 for the remaining 4748 days".

Wouldn't upgrade unless you see an equivalent wording though, they could have fixed this loophole…

Hopefully, if you try the PS App it'll be clear, but some have advised not seeing it correctly, potentially via Web Browser…

              • +2

@morpheous82: Plot twist. @UsernameChecksIn is 86 years of age.

    • You pay the $1.08 to upgrade as you only have 6 days left. Then you can buy another year of deluxe for $116 if you want.

Or buy more years of essential/extra first, then upgrade to deluxe.

  • -1

Key games have already dropped off in the months since the initial PS Plus Extra Deluxe launch list!
Seems a bit bait and switchy

  • Perfect timing. My 12 month renewal is up on 17 Dec. 🙏🙏🙏😄

  • -1

Good deal if PS5 is your main console. Otherwise waste of money.

  • I currently have 730 days left on my PS+ extra subscription.

I can get an upgrade to Deluxe for $30 for the remaining 730 days. Or I can extend my Extra subscription for a year for $101.21.

Is the deluxe tier worth the price or for $30 I should just jump in?

  • is eb or jb doing this? anyone confirm.

  • Surprised no-one is talking about the JB catalogue which has a $80 Playstation voucher for $53.30 (33% off).
    I think it's in-store only.

  • I noticed on the JB Hi-Fi and EB Games website they got rid of PlayStation Plus and replaced it with PlayStation Store Gift Cards to use towards PlayStation games, add-ons, subscriptions.

    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/pages/playstation-plus
    https://www.ebgames.com.au/featured/ps-plus

  • Got gift cards but PS5’s all out of stock. Buy this now you think? It’ll just be sitting there unless I’m bothered to turn on PS4

    • God of War Ragnarok bundle is still available at EB Games.

God of War and Horizon Forbidden West bundles, or Digital Consoles are available at Amazon AU.

Not sure if there's any standalone Disc Consoles available to be fair…

  • Do you think it will be 50% in December again this year?

    • Did that happen last year?

  • +1

Oh man… What have a I done?? Subscribed until August 2039… That's like almost 17 years or something. I thought it would stop me at 15 years… Then I added capped upgrade for $186.95 to Deluxe… Worth the extra $50 for that many years.. maybe they add features in the future… But MAN.. that's a huge outlay of cost… Damn you OzB.. Damn you :) (and thanks OP!!)

  • +1

@Lister55 don't have buyers remorse lol I think it's a crazy awesome. Deal irrespective of the huge outlay, I'm worse and subscribed from. Essential then upgraded to Deluxe for 25 years lol it's insane but nothing to worry about for years.
Unbelievable for $67.43 a year in comparison to the normal crazy yearly price.

    DELUXE UPGRADE CRAZY
$186.95 due today. Payment applies to the remaining 9131 days of your current plan. Next payment: $154.95 every 12 months, starting on 28/11/2047.

Thanks heaps OzB community without you I wouldn't have considered this hack. I was hoping to save more with the Coles gift card hack but 3 I went to were all sold out.
