@harshbdmmaster718: You just assume people don't know anything? Think about it, if someone is really concerned about battery life and elected to go for iPhone 13 Mini, then most likely they like the form factor.

This assumption that people do not know iPhone 12, 13, 14 (non-mini version) have bigger batteries and screens is false.

These are people who own iPhone 12 Mini wanting iPhone 13 Mini… Think about it.

                            • @netsurfer: "This assumption that people do not know iPhone 12, 13, 14 (non-mini version) have bigger batteries "
I did not say that they don't know it and ignorant. Where did I say that?
I am just saying it's not rocket science. Go for the bigger one and you will be more than satisfied compared to the 12 Mini.

"These are people who own iPhone 12 Mini wanting iPhone 13 Mini…"

I read it as they are not sure if they want the 13 Mini or not.

                              • @harshbdmmaster718: You wrote:

are you saying people prefer the 13 and 12 Mini over a similarly priced but older 12 or 11?

Stop changing your story. iPhone 13 Mini's battery life improvement can be enticing to some people.

                                • @netsurfer: Gosh really jumping on that one typo then.
If you were reading all my previous comments it should have been obvious.
                                  When I typed 13 and 12 Mini, I meant 13 Mini and 12 Mini.

Look you are misunderstanding many of my comments in both places I am making replies. We aren't even arguing because you seem to continue to bring up wrong points where I see none.

This all started because you thought my leak of the SE 4 was false and not accurate. I accept that. Just move on.

                                  • @harshbdmmaster718: I did not pick on your typo. Here, let's fix the typo:

are you saying people prefer the 13 (Mini) and 12 Mini over a similarly priced but older 12 or 11?

                                    The answer is yes.

This all started because you thought my leak of the SE 4 was false and not accurate. I accept that. Just move on.

Then, stop replying. You were the one who brought iPad 9, 10 and Apple TV into the mix.

      • I just moved from a 12 Mini (97% battery health) to a new 13 Mini. Difference is quite noticeable. Unfortunately the 13 Mini is a little but bulkier and heavier which is a shame because I like my phones to be as small and light as possible.

        • Yeah franxinus's comment below also doesn't line up with my friend who uses the 12 Mini with light to moderate use.
franxinus says 40% charge left after 2 days on the 13 Mini. My friend says on average more like down to 30% after 1 day on the 12 Mini, meaning if they don't put it on the charger it will be dead during the next day.

Maybe they fixed the antennae issue because my friends biggest complaint was the poor mobile reception. They said in the same locations the iPhone 7 always had an extra bar of reception. And I know poor network reception is a big cause of battery drain even when the phone is not in use.

          • @harshbdmmaster718: Please don't keep on quoting that one case from your friend. Dibs comment does make sense. It is well known iPhone 13 Mini does have improved battery life over 12 Mini.

If there are multiple people reporting they are not happy with their 12 Mini's battery life, unless you have objective testing results, it is best just leave those comments as is, rather than trying to refute them.

            • @netsurfer: "Unless you have objective testing results, it is best just leave that comment as is."

Yeah but who is commenting objective test results on ozbargain? I thought people come to the comments for feedback and that's what I gave.
Not trying to argue with you here just saying non of us are experts who have tried every single model and run tests.

Most likely we upgrade our phones every 3 to 5 years and give our feedback.

              • @harshbdmmaster718: At least people who commented on their iPhone 12 Mini(s) were from their personal experience. So you and your friend are more accurate than them. Is that it?

                • @netsurfer: How different is it if they had a personal experience, and someone else here or I did personally?

I am not saying my friends experience is more accurate. I am saying they are equal. It's not like a bunch of comments here disagree, most of them say 12 Mini battery life is horrid.

                  • @harshbdmmaster718: Gosh, you just know everything right?

The reason is this: iPhone 13 Mini won the battery test against iPhone 12. Watch it yourself.

                    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IQQCoJiZj8w

Please don't tell me your friend's iPhone 12 Mini lasts longer than iPhone 12. Or, Mrwhosetheboss is wrong?

                    • @netsurfer: Then you seem to have misunderstood what I wrote in my previous comment. I am talking about the 12 Mini's battery life. And that's exactly what my reference is talking about. We are not talking about the 13 mini at all.

                    • @netsurfer: "Please don't tell me your friend's iPhone 12 Mini lasts longer than iPhone 12. Or, Mrwhosetheboss is wrong?"

What the heck, you keep branching out into different models and comparisons. How can I keep up??

I have said from the beginning the larger models LAST LONGER than the Mini models.
My friend had a POOR experience with 12 Mini's battery life. It's BAD.

                      • @harshbdmmaster718: Don't know exactly what Apple did to iPhone 13 Mini. In general, it seems to have improved battery life. iPhone 13 Mini beating iPhone 12 is a surprise (to me at least).

Until we know the actual product is like (i.e. the next iPhone SE), there is no point speculating or raving how good it is going to be. Getting an an iPhone 11 or 12 may not have give a better battery life over 13 Mini.

                        • @netsurfer: Look I have no hard feelings against you.
It's just that I am embarassed because you misunderstood some of my comments and I probably misunderstood some of yours.
Maybe we both are not having a great day.
I will just leave it as that so that your youtube link is close to the bottom comments. And people can watch that and make their own minds up.

I will just say yes 13 Mini beating 12 is a surprise. 13 Mini does not have much bigger battery than 12 mini. Maybe there is something seriously wrong with the 12 Mini.

                          • @harshbdmmaster718: Then, stop replying. You kept on coming up with other things. Other products, who brought iPhone 11, 12, iPad 9, 10, Apple TV into those discussions?

                            • @netsurfer: That's just because you brought up Apple as a company.

                              • @harshbdmmaster718: You are on again.

I think it's better you wait for the next SE release if it's 6.1 inches like I just saw on youtube, release date should be in March April as well not the usual end of the year September release for the other iPhones.

Otherwise go for the normal bigger models they can fit bigger batteries. Better than paying for a 13 mini and still finding the battery is not enough for you.

                                • @netsurfer: I should have wrote, "what you know about apple".

I meant this part "Sound very Apple to me… ".
It sounded like you had experience with many apple products. So I shared the products I had, and have heard about.

                                  • @harshbdmmaster718:

This all started because you thought my leak of the SE 4 was false and not accurate. I accept that. Just move on.

I am still waiting for that to happen. If you accepted that, why are you still picking on me?

                                    • @netsurfer: I admitted above at the top that the source used in the video was most likely clickbait.

And as you can see in a response above to koala123 I am not against people buying iPhone 13 Mini at all. My first comment to original commenter here was just a suggestion.

I don't know why you think I am picking on you. I am just responding which is better than ignoring you isn't it?

I am not trying to argue with you.

                                      • @harshbdmmaster718: Mate, PLEASE don't take this the wrong way. You really misunderstood me. My initial point was this:

There is growing number of youTubers who care about their bottom line too much and release clickbait videos. A lot of people think those leaks are accurate. They are getting worse and worse now. Those main, more respected youTubers don't announce these baseless leaks to get clicks.

It's not just you. A lot of techies thought M2 Pro/Max/Ultra will be 3nm. Nowadays, just be cynical about those leaks and think a bit like Tim "Apple" (yes, I intentionally typed his name wrong). Apple never refreshed SE within a year (for good reasons). Another A15 iPhone SE 1 year later. Does that really make sense? My "subjective" view on iPad 10 is that Apple did that intentionally. One of the reasons is to basically a protest to EU's USB-C requirement. Apple just simply unwilling to release a cost friendly USB-C device just yet. An iPad 10 that's based on iPad 9 (but with CPU upgrade and USB-C) at the same price would be a victory for EU USB-C regulation. Or, Apple just couldn't be bothered, so they picked iPad Air board as the base, made some adjustments, rather than re-design iPad 9 board to do USB-C.

                                        • @netsurfer: Guys come on now, let’s be reasonable. I’ll just say this: Netsurfer is correct that peeps eyeing the 13 mini want the mini form factor. They know there’s big boys out there with chonky batts but love is love. 13 mini apparently has much better battery. It’s still a sacrifice but it sounds like it’s no longer an unacceptable one.

                                        • @netsurfer: "Those main, more respected youTubers don't announce these baseless leaks to get clicks.

Ok thank you for this. It really helps to understand everything better.

Also forgot to mention to you in the heat of the moment. I was impressed with the way Mrwhosetheboss frequently interacted with the phones while doing the battery tests. He was actually simulating real world use. I saw a different battery test once, and all the dude did was leave the phones there with the screens off and measure the countdown which I didn't really think was realistic.

      • The 13 mini has a lot better battery life than the 12 even though they are the same size.

        • "The 13 mini has a lot better battery life"

Yeah honestly I only looked at the battery capacity specs of 2227mah vs 2438mah and thought how much difference could 200mah make. Maybe an extra hour of use?
I know Apple always boasts about efficiency of new chips, but I didn't expect the 13 Mini to out perform the larger 12 in overall endurance like it did in the test video netsurfer linked above. It makes me think something is really wrong with the 12 Mini and how it consumes it's battery %.

"than the 12 even though they are the same size."

I thought so too. More or less, but when I checked the specs right now the 13 Mini is slightly thicker and heavier. Specifically 0.3mm thicker 6g heavier.

    • Still very early days but the 13 mini’s battery is more than adequate for my light to moderate use case, e.g. got over 40% now after 2 days (admittedly no heavy load in that time so not typical). And the size is absolutely perfect for me (even if my eyes aren’t).

Actually I’m quite surprised how long it’s lasting even given all the positive reviews about the noticeable improvement in that regard over the 12 mini—depends on how you generally use a phone of course.

    Gonna be under 300 soon

    • No it won't, stop lying

    • On a long enough time line, the price for every phone drops to zero.

      • soon

soon doesn't mean long enough time line.

        • soon is relative.

  • I wish you can just buy the phone outright without the simplan?

    Are these phones refurbished?

    • +1

What leads you to believe that these phones may be refurbished?

      • -5

Why the (profanity) would I not confirm if they're not before buying

        • +2

I don't see anything that would indicate it's a refurb. I just wondered if there was something that lead you to believe it was a refurb.

        • +1

If it doesn't say refurbished by a reputable store, then it's not refurbished.

        • Do you lack critical thinking skills? Literally nothing here states it's refurbished. Amaysim is reputable AF and this deal is posted by TA. Member since 2 seconds ago.. that explains it.

          • -3

@justcallmeboss: "Amaysim is reputable AF." According to (profanity) who? Did you come up with this statement through "critical thinking" ? I literally don't know anyone who uses Amaysim but yeah… critical thinking so must be "reputable AF"

    • +1

At first, it seems too good to be true. However, it is possible to think of it this way:

iPhone 12 Mini for $799. They just throw in the SIM for free.

That's why they don't let you buy it outright. Amaysim uses Optus. Perhaps that sheds some light why they want to gain some market share again.

      • Amaysim IS Optus.
        Amaysim was bought by Optus

  • +1

Heard amaysim is doing wifi calling on the prepaid sims, Is anyone uaing that feature?

    • Yes, on the $9/month and Optus Wifi Calling is active and helpful (in a dead spot at home)

    • Yes, it’s ok. Overall in my area, Amaysim reception is not very good. While on call, I noticed many times it uses WiFi Call from time to time.

  • +2

so in order to buy a phone you have to add a plan?

  • Are these unlocked? I'm interested in buying a pair for my parents who are on Telstra Prepaid. I don't plan to use the included sims.

    • I think the screen might be a bit small for the older demographic. Especially if they're at an age where they use larger fonts on their phone. I've stayed away from this phone for my parents for this very reason. An iPhone 11 in a similar price range might be a better option for them. YMMW.

    • just ask amaysim on their live chat, you could always sell the 2 sims/esims gotta be worth something given it's 250gb for 90 days

  • +1

I love my 12 mini. Perfect size. I don’t want to carry a phone around that’s as big as a tablet.

  • Thanks tightarse good deal!

  • Hmm I'm seeing $599 for 128GB…

Argh I need to add a plan. nvm

  • -3

    Definitely refurbished stock Like Kogan

  • Any good deals on the full size iphone 12 128GB - seems to be $1129 everywhere (except $1127 at Officeworks)?

  • Has anyone checked with Amaysim to see if its refurbished or brand new?
And is it locked to Optus?
    Thanks

    • +2

      To answer my own questions
Amaysim chat says the phone is new, not locked to Optus/Amaysim.
      Sold

      • thanks for this !
and confirmed to not be refurbished models as well?

  • +1

if you are on border about this vs 13 mini. go for 13 mini.

I have used both and 13 mini is my favourite. the battery life and screen brightness is better and noticeable.

    • how much better is 13 mini's battery compare to 12? how's your 12 mini's battery health today?

      • i sold 12 mini after getting 13 mini.

how much better , i dont need to worry about charging in middle of the day with 13 mini.

        • Imagine having paid full price for the 12 Mini. I would probably be mad and ask Apple for a full refund because the product is faulty.

  • Does anyone buy it already and if you have the tax invoice for the phone please ? I am thinking to bring it overseas to claim the gst. Thanks

  • Has anyone who bought one received a shipping notice yet?

    • +1

Ordered a white one on Thursday afternoon.
Got an SMS yesterday morning with a startrack tracking link, and the courier came knocking in the afternoon. I never got any emails, just the SMS.

    • I got nothing except confirmation.

      • It that you got a confirmation then nothing else before it was delivered or you only got a confirmation and nothing else after and you are still waiting on delivery?
        What was the timeline?
I ordered mine on the weekend and i got a confirmation and nothing else after that. The confirmation said i would be getting a tracking number but i havent as yet.

  • Hi, is anyone knows whether iphone 7 is taller and bigger than iphone 12 mini please ? Cannot find iphone 12 mini at store to compare. Checked Google but there are some conflicting information. Thanks

  • Hi is it brand new phone or refurbished.

    • I was tols it is new by Amaysim

it says its 90 days but doesn’t say if prepaid or postpaid?
