    Still way overpriced.

US RRP converted to AUD is $1,800.

Nvida AUS tax markup is $2,219 RRP.

As many others have speculated, these are presumably priced through the roof as decoy pricing to move 3xxx series stock.

HODL or go buy an AMD card. Don't give Nvidia any money.

    • +4

      Did you forget about gst

    • +3

Putting aside you missing the GST in your calculation, I don't think NVIDIA feels they can maintain this price either. They reportedly only shipped 30,000 cards globally for launch, compared with 130,000 for the 4090. 4080 is still in stock, while the 4090 struggles to be available.

Safe to say NVIDIA's plan is to eke out the last few GA102 and GA103 sales before further discounting GA104 and GA106 alongside a 4080 price drop. $799-$849 USD seems ideal given AMD will likely drop the 6900XT price to compete. Even then, I'd argue margins are still stupidly high for both.

    6900XT deal waiting room.

  • +24

Paying by bitcoin = no buyer protection
Newegg = horrible customer service w.r.t warranties
In other words, good luck if anything goes wrong

  • +24

    Problem A: bitcoin
    Problem B: newegg

      • +2

Isn't that a solution not a problem? This isn't an AMD deal, why would an NVIDIA card have problem C as a problem? Make it make sense!!!!

      • +2

Why would you want to use windows 11

      • +2

Something wrong with your setup then, or OS install because my 6800XT under Win11 is just fine.

    • Problem D: its 4080 and its complete shit for the price
Problem E: its Gigabyte Base model and board design is shit as well, I rather pay 2800$ on the techfast deal for Gainward 4090 Phantom (which I did even tho the board design are not better in anyway)
Problem F: if you post it here and make people think it is a deal then Nvidia win, with this price they trying to make 3080 above 1000$ which it shouldnt be no more than 800$ aud at the first place

  • +2

I may be wrong, but I read "you have to pay with Bitcoin." as "Refunds? Don't make me larf gov!".

  • +7

    Shifty move by Newegg…

  • Any coupon for payments made with drachma?

  • -1

Time to boycott all nvidia products.

  • Apparently these are really not selling well in the US, even at their less inflated price.

  • Isn't the 7900 supposed to be cheaper and faster than this?

    • +2

The 7900 XTX is expected to be, not so sure about the 7900XT - by my calculations it should be on about the same level of performance, but it's not unlikely to be ever so slightly slower.

Still about 24 days to go until release 🙏

Absolutely not way am I giving any money to Nvidia this generation

$2K+ is outrages for a GPU.

For someone who occasionally plays Civ6 on a 1080TI and doesn’t do any video editing there is no way I would even consider wasting my money on Jensens greed and BS about Moores Law being dead.

Boycot Nvidia, don’t buy into the hype. Shareholders are sitting in their penthouses laughing at you all who think anything over $1K is acceptable for a GPU

    • +2

For civ6 you'll likely be running your CPU into the wall before the GPU anyway! Definitely better to not get milked by nvidia.

    • +1

No one needs a 4080 for playing games but its nice they are available.

I think a 2070 would still play most anything at 1440p on high settings.

It's like saying that $1,000,000 is outrageous for a cat when you're standing in the Lamborghini dealership

      • Don't you love the purring engine in your Lamborghini?

      • Get where you are coming from but not the details. In any case, can't complain about $2K+ GPUs and also say $2K for a racing wheel is a sweet deal….

        • how about 700 for computer wheels

          • +1

@Pugkin: Depends on your priorities and circumstances. $700 may be a lot of some, not much for others. I can afford it, sure. No way would I spend that much, at least not right now. I barely use my logitech g29.

My point was, the guy who was complaining about $2K for a GPU said that a $2K fanatic racing wheel was a great deal a couple of weeks ago. You would think they would understand the want for something premium or high end then…

      • Probably a decent discount on the cat actually…

    • +1

For someone who has no use for a 4080, why does it matter what they charge?

    • Not exactly; some shareholders sold at a loss. Pelosi comes to mind although she didn't lose as much as some. More likely shareholders are thinking that the company better start selling some more products.

Having said that; who would have thought that 2-thousand-dollar video cards would not be big sellers during a recession…

  • +4

    Where's bargain?

    • +2

Did you forget this is ozripwallet after 40 series launched?

    • +2

But it's in stock :D OzB stopped being about bargains ages ago. Frankly, I would be surprised if I buy from any Black Friday deals this year as it's all before the AMD cards release. Wonder if AMD did that on purpose to ruin Black Friday deals for Nvidia.

  • +1

I guess this price will drop like a stone you throw at a river.
Nvidia has to shoot bitcoin to 65K to sell these at this price

  • What is the go with a majority of retailers still selling 3080's and 6900xt for $2000-$2500?

You can get a bloody 4080/4090 for that money. Why do they list such high prices as if it's 2020-21?

    • +1

They probably have 1 or 2 3080s in stock and want you to buy 4080/4090. They will sell these 3080s when the time is right at a lower price. Or some sheep will buy them up.

  • Damn, didn't realise these were selling for so much given the slump in cryto prices, who's buying them? I got a nice cheap 30 series recently that'll see me for another couple of gen's but I'd though to check in and see what the 40xx's were going for.
