Bought them for $98 in Aug 2019.
World has changed since, and I think this is the best price in last 2 years.
Good choice for someone trying to start their cast iron journey.
I am very happy with them, and use regularly (wife does complain they are heavy).

Can you boil food in them or would it rust quickly?

best to do it in another pot instead

      • I'm waiting for the griddle to go on sale and checking religiously during BF sales, have the rest of them already.

If you have seasoned the pot well, no issue with boiling in my experience. Is great for frying off meat, onion and/or garlic first before boiling a soup. Made fried rice in my pot once (starting with uncooked rice) and it was alright, prefer stainless pot for that cause its lighter and easier to pick up and stir.

Be mindful of acidic stuff like making your own passata or something, that wouldn't be great for it but with CI you can strip it and re-season easily.

      • Rust is a non-issue if you wipe after washing, and season every now and then.

  • Any opinions on using the griddle for pizza using the stove top + oven method?

I use my skillet to do omelets like this, stove + oven on grill setting. It's easy to burn the bottom if not careful as CI holds the heat.
