You sometimes get these for free (after rebate)

This is better IMO as you do not wait eons for the rebate.

  • +1

They are usually free anyway. No deal. It is the strips that you have to pay top dollar.

  • +2

Might be worth mentioning that the packet of test strips the product requires to function is nearly $50. So unless you really need this product for health reasons it's probably not worth buying just for the medicine cabinet.

  • +3

For those needing the strips - seems significantly cheaper than many other sites:

    http://www.diabetesvic.org.au/shop?page=shop.browse&category…

    • Probably need to qualify for C'th govt's:

      "National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS)"

      Just to members?

      Just to folks in Vic.?

Excellent Prices $15.20 (Chem Wearhouse $49.53), each for 100 tests.
      (haven't checked S+H)

      Include S+H i price?

Vic wins my respect again! :-)

      • in nsw, if ur doctor signs ur ndss form for membership, u get strips for <$16 from any chemist participating in ndss scheme.

      • NDSS is available through all states (national, after all..) and is free to join for people diagnosed with diabetes who have a Medicare card. http://www.ndss.com.au/en/Register/ So prices are nothing new, you can get it anywhere you find a pharmacy registered to provide NDSS items. :)

what a crime! a business trying to make money!

  • +3

They are using the Inkjet Printer Business Model with these units. Cheap to buy, expensive to run.

    • Then someone needs to make after market strips.

      • If the quality of aftermarket/generic or refill ink is anything to go by, we'd see alot of deaths if they did

  • They are actually cheap to buy, and cheap to run, but in the expend of tax payer funded scheme to provide highly subsided strips.
PS. The "Active" is not actually a good machine, need more blood, old model and bucky . Much better to buy an expensive one, and get 100% cashback.
