    I love mine!
The only downside is my wife knows when I come or leave the house 😅

    • +1

Yeah, this was a great purchase a few months ago. I have it to turn on my Wi-Fi light in the carport when the door opens, and then turn off 5 minutes after it closes. I also get notified if it stays open (or if I forget to close it).
Don't need to use the official app either, just HomeAssistant is fine

      • Nice! ❤️ Home Assistant
Plus since this is HomeKit version, definitely no need for app, firmware updates can be installed via Apples Home app

    • You can choose to not install the hall-effect sensor, and then use the original remote/switch to open/close the garage 🤣

      Mine works really well, too.

    • I know this has always had great reviews but I have only experienced a lot of pain using this homekit version with my steelline sd800. However it was due to wifi connectivity issue that seemed to drop out every 2/3 days and often it would be unusable when I needed it most. Tried different router options (using Asus zen wifi AX) with smart option/wifi 6 etc on and off still didn’t work. Bought new one from amazon too thinking other one faulty but same issue persisted. Finally gave up and went with connect from laser (Australian). With tweaking in smart Life app can use siri (no homekit campatible version yet) to open/close as well and installation was super easy due to using gyro and no cabling required. However only for sectional garage doors and not roller doors. Can anyone shed light why my meross was having trouble with wifi issues? I have plenty other smart/iot stuff that works perfectly. As far as I know my router works very well too. Only thing I can think of is not having a controller for homekit ie I have no ipad or apple tv or apple home hub at my place. Can this be an issue in my situation? Went through so much headache and gave up finally. Happy with current solution however. Thanks.

      • Just hazarding a guess perhaps all the metal in the garage door was in just the wrong place for the meross model which might have been more susceptible to it, or you have a dud unit.

As a side note, if you use home assistant there’s probably a good chance you can use HomeKit bridge (which doesn’t actually need home assistant).
So if you have a raspberry pi lying around you can get free* HomeKit support in vanilla things.

        • it’ll work but may complain it’s not officially supported, no biggie
        • Well the 2nd meross unit had the same issue. Wifi was 100% when it was working but no wifi after about 3rd day then back on. Current Connect unit I’m using (bought from the good guys $49) working perfectly. Enough for me for now. Thanks for your reply.

  • I have this and it works perfectly, only thing I dislike is the notification "Garage door openerShut down" which I can't find a way to change.
Does anyone know how to create a routine in Google Home that doesn't require you to enter a PIN every time you open the garage door?

    • +1

You can disable the PIN in the Meross app itself ( For garage open / close ) and re-link the account with Google assistant for that to take effect.

      • i see, I'm using Tuya App and there's no option, let me try in Meross.

        • On the Meross app , once the device is added, just touch the device icon on the home screen and it will take you to all custom configs available. Dont click on the garage door area in the icon as it triggers the open/close signal, just click somewhere else on that icon.

    $44.59 here

    https://www.amazon.com.au/Compatible-Assistant-Multiple-Noti…

Based on the images both are the MGS100.

    • +2

      Non-homekit version.

These work great, easy to install.

      • Ah OK, makes sense! I saw the model number being the same and assumed they would be the same.

    • Thanks i didnt need homekit version.

  • Their devices are really great. Somehow I ended up losing the sensor cable and the solenoid for my device when I moved house. If anyone got a faulty device with a working sensor cable and the solenoid, I will just buy that. Just don't want to spend money on the whole kit.

    • +1

Ask the company if they can send you a spare

  • +1

I've got a "myQ" system which kinda is poo, because there is no "HomeKit" integration here in OZ. :(
you have to load their specific app to open/close/

    • Yeah me too. I have it integrated into Home Assistant but it does flake sometimes. Every time the Meross HomeKit version appears here I think, do I bite the bullet this time?

  • Dumb question - can this "homekit" version be used with a native Meross or does it have to be integrated with Alexa/Google. I'm not using any home automation system right now but might do in the future.

    • +1

      It can do both.

  • been using this for a few months and love it!

i couldnt find a good spot to install the magnet sensor for a roller style garage door though, so its constantly showing its opened

    • +1

I installed mine here, it consistently shows the correct door status.

  • I've got the MGS200 version of this and wanted to have auto garage open work based on coming home using my GPS. I currently have IFTTT running a scene but I've found it to be quite glitchy with accessing my phone's GPS and at times randomly opens the garage including at 3am in the morning. Obviously not the safest way to operate it so I've disabled the opening automation and only have the closing of the garage when I leave home.
Does anyone have recommendations on how they run their unit with automations? I would use HomeKit but I only have a WiFi only iPad and by the time the iPad gets within my home WiFi range to ping HomeKit to open the garage, I might aswell have opened it myself cause it'd be quicker.

    • How do you get home? If by car, you can have it only trigger when your bluetooth is connected to your car for example.

    • +1

generally the consensus (on HA forums) is that geofencing any sort of automation is quite finnicky. youd be better off opening it manually with your phone 20s before you arrive via voice command or other.

  • kinda new to this stuff so rookie question, does this only work with craftsman, liftmaster and chamberlain which are the brands in the photos or will it work with any brand. When I moved into my place, the previous owner had garage door openers installed not too long ago and the brand they use is called 'Sprint'

  • Can be found cheaper on Amazon AU for those that don't need Apple Homekit version compatibility.

    • Dumb question - can this "homekit" version be used with a native Meross or does it have to be integrated with Alexa/Google. I'm not using any home automation system right now but might do in the future.

      • Ok from reading the listings it looks like the "homekit" version specifcally adds apple ecosystem support, so in effect an apple tax product. The other version looks to be functionally identical but works with non Apple eco systems such as amazon and google

        • -1

          That's how I saw it.

      • Yes - It is has all the regular functions, google etc. You're paying extra for HomeKit support on-top of the standard integrations.

Homekit support requires additional programming, additional hardware (An encryption and authorisation chip) as well as certification by Apple, so it makes sense they'd charge more for it.

  • I use Home Assistant, and unlikely to ever use Homekit. What does Homekit compatible actually mean? i.e. is it identical other than just extra code built in to communicate with that protocol, or is there something else? Presumably Homekit version is additional, not replacing.

    • Yep - If you don't use HomeKit, buy the non-home kit version. Apart from HomeKit support they're functionally identical.

  • Can you link this to two iphones i.e. wife phone and mine to control garage door? Thanks

    • +1

I’ve got mine connected to all 4 family members phone. No issues

      • +1

        Thanks mate

  • -1

Heads up that these are not compatible with the centsys electric gate motors, despite the website saying they are.

  • Looking to install one of these on my gate. It doesn't have a power outlet but does have a 12v connection. Does anyone know whether a 12v input voltage would work for this device?

    • +1

it requires 5V 1A as input. Any 12v to 5V step down should work.

  • +1

We love ours. It does need a reboot once a
Month or so, but otherwise has been very smooth.

It’s also integrated with CarPlay which is very slick.

  • Could you buy 2 of these and use them to control 2 garage doors in the same household?

I remember there was a 3 door opener in the past, would I be better off buying that instead?

    • i believe the one you are talking about is the meross msg200, which supports up to 3 doors. currently $129 on amazon unless it's cheaper elsewhere

      • Yeah thanks, the msg200 was the one I was thinking of. Wonder if it's worth spending the extra $20?

  • Steel-Line SD800 (the most common garage motor installed by builders these days) anyone installed on these?

    • I have it installed on Steel-Line SD800 and no issues so far

    • I have this model garage opener and it works with the MSG200 that I bought 2 weeks ago and it works perfectly. I initially thought about buying this MSG100 model and it looks like the way it's connected to the garage door opener is the same so I don't see why it wouldn't work.

    • Hi, I have similar model door and i had similar issue which you faced, on top of your SD-800 motor there are 4 black and red coloured wire inlets, you need to plugin the wire from the meross device into the one labeled as Receiver on your SD-800 motor device..

    • Have similar question, if anyone using it for SD1200, would this work on sd1200?

      Thanks

  • Is there any difference between this and other basic smart switches? like this one?
Sonoff Basic Smart Remote Control Wifi Switch Compatible with Alexa DIY Your Home via Iphone Android App (Sonoff 4Pack) https://amzn.asia/d/eH6p6Kg

  • +1

Had this for a while and it is amazing

  • Has anyone installed this on a solar powered gate?
    BFT specifically.

  • +1

Honestly the best Homekit device I've had to date.

  • Finally got around to setting mine up on the weekend from a deal months ago. Love it.

  • Has anyone got this working with google nest wifi?
I always have issues with smart devices and google wifi

  • How secure are these devices? Any chance of it being hacked?

  • Just wondering if my existing remote controls to open / close garage still works?

    • Yeah it will still work. Plus you can open it through your phone or voice command.

  • Does anyone know if this works with Stoddart group garage remote? I cannot find it in the list of compatible remotes.

  • Thank you, OP. Bought the non Homekit version

  • Thank you OP i bought one.

  • I have one of these hooked up successfully to a B&D Diamond PD. The hardest part was getting the sensor placement right, because there weren't many places to secure the magnet on the right angle.

That said, it hasn't been too reliable for me:
    - Never seems to work unless I'm connected to my home Wi-Fi.
    - Often appears as offline and has to be restarted.

My theory here is that my device is losing connection and it's not re-connecting by itself. I didn't plan for my wi-fi signal to reach the furthest corner of the garage.

I've had both good and bad experiences with it:

    Good(ish):
An hour or so after leaving home one day, it warned me that I'd left my garage door open. I wasn't able to close it remotely like I wanted, but I could at least call the neighbor and ask for help.

    Bad:
I left the house without keys or the garage door remote, assuming I'd be able to get back inside through the phone app. I could not and it rained.

p.s. Just another tip, when you open your roller door unit to connect this device you may notice a small wire leading to no-where. This is your antenna and should not be removed. I lost mine at some point and had to replace it with some bell cable from Bunnings.

  • Anyone using this for Steel-line SD1200 garage door? wondering if it works or not. Checked the Meross app, I can see SD800 but not SD1200. Want to confirm before buying it.
    Thanks

    • I have the SD1200, I cant get it to work :( Going to write to them now.

  • I made my own for less than $5 using an ESP-01, still blows my mind how much this stuff costs…

I always get downvoted for these comments, but it's the truth. All this home automation stuff costs waaaay too much.

  • Just saw this, I think the deal is over as showing as $89.99 for me

  • This may be a noob question but I bought this and set it up but I can only control it when my phone is on the same wifi network as the garage, is this correct?

  • I'd like to purchase one of these, however I can't work out how/where to open my garage door unit? the model is: Merlin Powerlift 2600P (model 2500). Can anyone please help me with instructions on how to open the unit and locate the wires for shorting?

This I think is the manual: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/830999/Merlin-Powerlift.ht…

    Thanks

  • We have ST50EVOB gaeage door..and cannot seem to make it work.. it is detecting that it is closed, but when we tried to open it, it did not move.. it says, "garage open action is failed. "..

    Any idea about this issue?
