Is this worth the savings over the new SE($399 from apple)?
Never owned an Apple Watch before.yes, the new one is only a very slight unnoticeable upgrade.
The main difference is the 2022 model has the S8 SIP vs the S5 SIP in the 2020 model. Improvements since the S5 include 20% faster chip, Bluetooth 5.3, and crash detection.
Most of these are minor but I would personally take advantage of Apple's Black Friday deal with $80 back in Apple Gift Cards over this for the latest chip. Stack with this deal and you get the current model for even cheaper than this HN clearance price.

Why would you get the 2020 model for $299 when the same 2022 model SE is $399 with $80 back in Apple Gift Cards this Friday? That brings the price down to $319.
If you buy it with the current 10% back in Flybuys points promo for Apple Gift Cards at Coles, it ends up being cheaper than this. Practically $279.10 for the current model and saves you from buying from Gerry Harvey LOL.

Yes. You can also add the gift cards to your Apple ID balance (that you use to pay for apps) and then apply your balance at checkout. You should see the $80 gift card added on checkout. Did it successfully with last year's Black Friday deal.

@NeverMissABargain: Faster to add them to your Apple ID account beforehand. Can be done in the App Store app, that way you just have to select to use your balance on checkout rather than scanning the gift cards in at checkout.
for me, $80 of apple gift cards are useless. so while the newer SE would be down to $319 if i included the gift cards, im still out of pocket $399 instead of $299 over this deal.
