Starting July 1st (probably July 2nd for us) Amazon will be having a huge digital games sale!
The main highlights are as mentioned in the title, Max Payne 3 for $30 and Spec Ops: The Line for $25.

Along with what is already confirmed to be discounted there will be many more deals added throughout the sale as well. A lot of the games can also be activated and downloaded through Steam, such as Max Payne and Spec Ops.

A quick rundown on some of the better deals available and information on which games can be activated on Steam can be found as posted by an Amazon rep here: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showpost.php?p=9741800&p…

One thing to note is that you will need to provide a US billing address in order to purchase digital games from Amazon. However you can use your Australian credit card to pay.

The link I have provided for the deal should show the current list of games that are going to be reduced. Remember it hasn't started yet so the discounts already shown are not the summer sale prices, and more games will be added over the month.

Yeah steam will be selling more games but I can't see steam offering some of these games any cheaper, Amazon usually give similar discounted prices to what steam do and there is less mucking around to get the US price through Amazon.

Max Payne 3 is $90 on AU steam, even if it does go for 50% off in the steam summer sales (which it might not) then it's still $45 vs $30 unless you want to muck around with a VPN/gifting account etc and even then it will still be the same price on both stores.
MW3 is $100 and Spec Ops is $70 on steam, those will cost way more for Aussie steam users than the $30/$25 amazon has them for. And during the steam sales I bet those will be no less on the US store but again you have to jump through more loops with steam.

I guess you can still wait for the steam sale, see if some of these games go for the same price on the US steam store then decide if it's easier to buy from Amazon or not ;)

  • Damn it, I knew about this upcoming sale but I was hoping it'd be less than $30.
A CD key for a non-steam version is $17.50 so is it worth paying almost double for a steam version?

    • The MP3 keys Amazon sells come with all the pre-order DLC's and bonuses.

  • Taking advantage of the vacuum created by the Steam Summer Sale being late. Good on 'em.

  • Has begun, got MP3, CODMW3 no problems.

    • can you share what address you used

  • Just bought Max Payne 3 for $30, and it's currently installing on steam as we speak. Epic.

  • how do you use an Australian credit card with a US billing address?

    • nvm got it sorted out

      • Tell us how please

  • Cheers, downloading mp3 and mw3 now :D

Hopefully it's better than the xbox version (mw3 that is)

  • Thinking about grabbing Syndicate for $15 (despite it basically being Human Revolution V2). Anyone played it?
I wonder why it's nowhere to be found on the Origin store, but requires it for activation.

  • Syndicate was refused classification in Australia, so I'd be careful about trying to activate it with an Aussie Origin account. No idea if it'd work or not.

    • Damn, that explains it's absence from the Origin AU site. Hopefully the R18+ classification fixes this, though by that time it won't be on sale anymore. This really should never have been banned / rated as such, anyway. I mean really, its a bit of blood and guts, who the hell cares!

    • It sucks anyway, its nothing like the original series.

      Play Deus Ex: HR instead.

  • i want to dl max payne but says i need a us address :(

  • says order is taking longer than expected for max payne can be between 1-4 hours

  • Important note, with the Paradox packs: the Pint Sized Paradox Bundle has all the DLC for Crusader Kings II, but appears to be missing the actual game. You can either buy this pack plus Crusader Kings II for a total of $17.48, or go for the "Plethora of Paradox Games", which only misses Sword of the Stars Complete and Sword of the Stars II (these are in the $12.49 "Plentiful Paradox Package".

I think I've done spread-sheeting these packs for the moment.

    • And of course someone in another forum has pointed out that you can spend $12.49 + $7.49 total $19.98 to get everything in the $19.99 Plethora pack plus Sword of the Stars games for $0.01 less than I paid:(.

  • Tempted to buy GTAIV digital Steam copy from Amazon but I'm not liking all these incompatibility issues I'm reading about when combined with Windows 7 :/

  • Thanks! I ended up getting Max Payne 3 and Borderlands GOTY!

  • if your credit card wont allow you to purchase amazon game with us billing address this how i do it

    use http://www.fakenamegenerator.com/

get any address (the one without tax) and any credit card detail
purchase the game - will fail after a few minute (just close it if take too long)
go to your amazon account - order - order number
there should be a message on top with yellow Retry or edit credit card - click it

then you can enter your real credit card and oz address :P to complete the purchase

hope that help anyone having problem purchasing
