I had that in the post… the advantage of buying from JB is combining with discounted gift cards.

    • $745 is nice. Making me regret paying $1189 for a Q990B last week.

Interesting article on the differences. Wondering if this q930b is the bang for buck one?

        • +2

I think it would be hard to argue this isn't excellent bang for buck overall.

But ultimately its all about value and maybe where you plan to use it. Based on last gens series if you have a HT type room the 990 would be worth the several hundred extra imo but if you plan to use it in an open area or you have high ceilings I wouldn't bother and just grab the 930.

  • Ohh 659 is sooo enticing. Its such good value even if the q990b came down to 1k.

  • +1

Got it. Love it. Get it!!

  • Any nice mounting brackets for the satelites someone can recommend?

    • It comes with.

  • +2

$749 on the Samsung government store. 699 if you have a $50 off coupon + any reward points you may have.

    • Did not know this was a thing! How does one get a $50 off coupon?

      • Subscribe to their newsletter on their website and they give you a $50 coupon which can be used if you are spending 350 or more

  • +1

how do we get "possible $658.75 ($775*0.85 price match and perks)" ?

    • +1

Contact JB support to pricematch HN so $785.
Use perks to get $10 off so $775.
Buy 15% off TCN gift cards at Coles from tomorrow https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/737790 so $775*0.85 = $658.75

      • Or if the whole gift card thing is too hard, the Q930B is now available for $799 on the Samsung site. Combined with the 15% discount codes they were giving out (if they are still available and if they stack), that would give $679.15.

I bought mine this week for $792 from JB. They will refund the difference if it sells cheaper elsewhere, but not if it involves a discount code I suspect. If I see it for much less than HN's $785 I might try this.

  • Any recommendation on speaker stand for the rear speakers for these?

    • +3

No. But in case it's useful to anyone… I don't have anywhere great to put mine as rear speakers without stands, though the power cords may still be an issue even with stands. So I am trying them as front surrounds, placed fairly wide. There's a setting in the SmartThings app that allows them to be set as either front or rear (the default). Seems good so far, though I haven't really evaluated much.

Cheaper to buy from the US and ship it here and than to buy from Amazon AU.

  • So I'm in a pickle…. Looking for a soundbar for the bedroom (small 4x4m)
Got a bunch of Samsung reward points so have the option to either get this for around $500 or the Q700B for $250

I think this one might be overkill for such a small room and I really don't want to have to put surround speakers anywhere but in saying that, if the Q700B is crap I don't want to waste my money.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Do the lower end models have any kind of practical virtual surround modes? I listened to a mates older R550 soundbar and it was fantastic in a small room with what I assumed was a virtual surround mode.

Update - went for the 930b
      Will report back

      • +1

I am in the same situation my theatre room is small, let me know how it sounds once you setup. Thank you

        • +1

          Sure will do!

          • @lachhelix: How did you go?

            • +1

@The king: Not arrived yet :(

            • @The king: Set it up last night - not particularly impressed if I'm honest.
Sound is muddy, perhaps it's because it's a smaller room. The surrounds are way too loud even at the lowest possible channel volume. And for some reason it's killing the HDR between my TV and Chromecast

It does get very very loud with minimal distortion but unsure if I'll keep it or send it back to Samsung

              • +1

@lachhelix: Thanks for your review, I won’t buy it now. I have old 5.1 channel Samsung with blue ray player. I will continue using that and sounds more than enough for that room size for me.

Cheers for your help and saving my $$.

      • +1

        You won't regret it.

Just purchased from JB for $655.

Did sign up for a Samsung Government store account but as dealsucker said, it's $749 which is only $50 off Samsung's retail price of $799. The $50 voucher for signing up to their newsletter takes up to 48 hours and I didn't want to risk it being sold out.

Samsung chat bot then told me about 15% off soundbars for having any existing Samsung device or appliance. Sent them proof of my S20fe, got the code. Code only valid at retail store, bringing $799 down to $679.15. Took that to JB, they brought it down to $680, stacked with $10 perks voucher down to $670 and 2.5% cashback $600 shopback JB voucher, total $655.

I tried to get TCN gift cards this morning, got to Coles at 6:15AM and there were already 5 people holding on to every single gift card waiting for their mates to rock up and divvy up the 5 per person limit. If someone was lucky enough to get the TCN gift cards and had a Samsung device, theoretically could buy it for $569.50 ($670*0.85)

Cracking price. Can you share any screenshot of that price from Samsung?

Good luck! I'm getting some grief from JB now. Despite stores showing stock, they only have the floor display one left. They're trying to get one from another store for me.

        • Thanks. I have placed my back-order this morning because they don’t have the stock. Will go there and try to get this price later.

        • Thanks. I think the screenshot has your name if you're privacy orientated.

Edit: jb chat are saying no as I need to log in… fingers crossed that they honour yours

          • +2

@Caped Baldy: I was lucky. Originally they are not honouring the price match using promo code. Maybe because my sales is still on back-order and they scared to lose the business. I was given the difference on JBGiftCard. It's a win for me - end up costing me $567. Thanks!

            • +1

@denius: Wow, amazing price. Well done.

              • +1

@Caped Baldy: Damn I only got for $669 with the JB price match + perks. But still happy nonetheless

                • +1

@kovoker: would you be able to share the invoice please.. i have tried with the JB chat but with no luck..

                • +1

                  @kovoker: That's a good effort. $567 is a unicorn price

    • Hi, can you please send me receipt, TGG and HN i spoke to wont price match without seeing receipt.

  • +1

Stock seems to be limited, in Victoria at least. I just bought one from the Melbourne CBD, but they had to put it in as a pickup from another store. Even online is showing delivery no longer available (it was available this morning).

I'd say your best bet now is to visit a store that is showing stock.

  • +2

Tried price match @ the good guys but they refused, end up buying from samsung store for $669+ 20x point bonus equal 10%, hopefully will have 4%cash-back as well but likely not as discount code used.

    • Which bonus points are these?

      • When you checkout, there is a section tell you how many rewards point you can get if you sign up to it. Just under total price. It’s 10x point not 20x, my bad. I got 6790 point. Btw, no need to wait for $50 when spend $350 code as it not work with 15% code.

Found a site call countdowndeals doing $699 - got both JB (they are OOS in VIC now for delivery) and Harvey Norman to price match

    https://countdowndeals.com.au/products/samsung-q930b-q-serie…

    • +1

Thanks for sharing mate. Managed to get TGG to price match this, paid with 5% gift cards, $50 in store credit but also had a $99 TCL soundbar I hadn't picked up which was refunded so ended up being $520 in total. Now I just need to let the wife know!

      • Hi, is that possible to share your reciept. I spoke to TGG here and they wont do it without seeing the receipt.

  • +3

I ended up buying from the samsung store after I was able to get a 15% off coupon and also used $60 worth of reward points I had. I also got another $60 rewards point to spend for future. All in all $615 which aint too bad.

  • Hi dealsucker, how to get 15% off coupon ? I got Samsung corporate account but don't know how to get 15 % discount code ?

    • I think you have to talk to chat

    • See my post above at 22/11/2022 - 23:09

    • Wont work with corporate account. Works with retail store only.

  • Tried JB and TGG and both won't match Countdowndeals

HN will do it but darn, that means I'm buying from Gerry….and no 15% GCs :(

    • Did you do JB instore or via online chat? I did mine through online chat yesterday and they were cool with it…

      • Tried the online chat and they made me pay for the $61 postage to QLD baked onto the price, tried calling up to my local store and they said they aren't allowed to price match Countdowndeals and that they're only allowed to pricematch an approved list of retailers…

        • I had no luck with jb too.. managed to get 15% from samsung, less hassle no need to get gift card

          • @yummyyummy: You managed to order from Samsung? There was no stock when I asked the chat..

  • I managed to get a price match with countdown deals. When the staff was trying to issue the order, she realized that there is no stock left (all over VIC). Missed it narrowly :-(

  • +1

Cheers, JB were willing to price matched $699 without any haggling but was out of stock in all stores according to the rep, so i tried TGG and they also price matched and charged $10 for delivery but i ended up just driving in and picking it up rather than waiting for delivery. Listening to the sweet sounds right now. Not much info comes in the box about the settings but it seems pretty self explanatory. Got it hooked up to the 75" TCL at the moment listening to spotify and it's a massive upgrade but the real reason i got this was because i recently ordered a Samsung S95 OLED which should arrive in a few days. Will be my first OLED Happy days :P The huge JBL surround system i bought 10+ years ago has been gathering dust for to long after my last move and this soundbar is more than enough for my needs.

    • Congrats mate and that's a nice upgrade. My crappy pioneer system is going to have to survive for a bit longer.

  • How do the rear speakers power themselves?

Do they require 2x power sources?

I'm tossing up between this for $680 or the q800B XY for $566 (difference of $114).

I'm in a rental, so wall mounting rears is not possible. Plus power cables on the floor is a no no. Any tips/inputs/thoughts folks?

I'm upgrading from the ozbargain favourite, Yamaha Yas 108B. LG C9 TV with eArc.

    • Fairly sure these are powered. You don't need to connect them or you can have them at the front. Obviously you won't get the full experience.

  • Haven't purchased from Catch for aaages, The Saver registered in Nov 2022…. how can one tell if AU stock or any potential issues ordering from https://www.catch.com.au/product/samsung-9-1-4-channel-q-ser…

Can someone please advise if considered "safe" to buy - price is obviously good.

    • Seller since November 2022. I'd say sketchy. I'm not familiar with catch and its refund policy. If you do it would be safe to use paypal and/or credit card for protection.

I went to Bing Lee Moore Park and showed them the Countdown Deals price. They were unable to price match but got it close enough at $730.

I got Good Guys to price match Countdowndeals for $699. With 10% off gift cards and $50 storecash, total price is $580.
