  • Is this better than the Surface Laptop 4? The 2 TB4's on both sides of the laptop makes this very attractive - and for the same price too.

    • +1

The cpu and storage is better than surface laptop 4, but the screen is worse, 2k vs 1080p

    • +1

Personally I think this on is better.

    • Yeah IMO Thunderbolt 4 makes all the difference here. If the Surface 4 had TB4, then it would be better.

  • How's this compare to the surface pro deals that are around at the moment, such as this: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/739169

I'm not really sure what the difference is between R5 and i7 I guess

edit: I see it has been asked and answered, thanks

  • How does this compare to the M1 macbook air?

    • i ended up buying this coz windows, got it 2 months ago for 70 dollars more

  • I was debating these but wondered if the i5 version would get back down below $900. With the same number of cores and architecture the differences are a bump in clock speed and cache, probably single-digit % performance differences in the real world (or even most benchmarks as far as searching for CPU reviews tells me)

    • I7 has more EU in GPU, 96 EU vs 80 EU in i5
Both GPU not great for gaming, but 87 does offer 20% more than i5 from the integrated GPU

      • Thanks, I hadn't thought about the embedded GPU

  • If only these came in ~14".

    • +1

its actually got a 14" form factor, super slim bezels

I have bought one for my son going to high school next year - Build quality and battery coupled with sleek design.

Lucky him. I started my kids off on Refurbed laptops under $300 when they started high school until they understood the value of what they have in their possession. The refurbed laptop took a beating for sure..Dell & Lenovos are built tuff! Upgraded them to laptops of similar specs in this deal when they started year 11. Not a tiny scratch anywhere on the laptop till date. Just my 2c.

Loved your 2 cents mate and I could have used these earlier for sure. It is a great way to establish the discipline in life. Cheers

  • Is there an easy way to figure out what max res/fps these laptops can output to an external monitor? Eg. 4k @ 120hz, etc

    • +1

From the Intel NUC M15 specs

      Maximum Supported Resolutions

      • HDMI 2.0b - 3840x2160 48-60 Hz 24 bpp (RGB/YUV444) or 3840x2160 48-60 Hz 12 bpp (YUV420)
      • DisplayPort* 1.4a via Thunderbolt™ 4 Port - 4096x2304 60 Hz 36 bpp or 5120x3200 60 Hz 24 bpp

You can use the online Video Timings Calculator to see if the bandwidth is within HDMI/Display specs.

  • Is this one of the NUCs that can't take 32GB RAM due to a bug that Intel has stated will never be fixed?
Edit; No that's the X15 aka KC series - https://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/in…

  • ordered one ~a week ago elsewhere.
    Still waiting arrival.
M15 seems decent, and two thunderbolts 4
And the ram is not expandable, soldered with CPU…

  • Does the charger plug into the left or right hand side?

    • According to NotebookCheck, either side

… The unibody aluminum chassis leaves a very high-quality impression and is very sturdy. You also get very modern ports with Thunderbolt 4 in a convenient layout (charging is possible on both sides), …

      • Thanks!

      • I have received the M15 laptop today bought under this deal. Ironically I have received a charger (made of two components), the plug not compatible with AU socket. Can you please confirm and share your experience? Does the laptop not come along with a standard charger or is that shipped by the seller on its own? Interestingly the charger was part of the Intel Box packing.

        • The original package does not come with AU power cord, as mentioned in other post.

          • @O O: raise a complaint ticket with the seller, and they'll send you an AU power cord for free. They know they have to under consumer law.

  • Annoyed they increased the price of the Intel Nuc, so even with the discount it's now >$1,000. Funnily enough, the prices for both deals are now the same!

  • I got this with free au plug. Purchased from gg ebay with headphones
