Plenty of WDT on aliexpress for less than 10 bucks

I mean…it's more than I would spend on a WDT tool (I've made three of my own, costing less than $5 with multiple sized needles!).

But at $21 each, it's not the most egregious rip off for a WDT tool. You can certainly spend far more than that on a WDT tool. And decent ones from Aliexpress are around $10 each, maybe a little bit less. So $21 for a well made branded one with lots of flexibility in needle placement is not really that bad a deal, honestly.

Plus, you get 30 needles with it…which if you've bent a needle on a WDT tool before, will be a nice piece of mind to have plenty of backups! (There's $5 of the asking price, just in needles.)

Of course, if you are happy to make your own, or have a 3D printer (or access to one), buying any WDT will be a rip off in comparison!

Not saying it's the greastest deal or anything, but it's not horrible. And certainly better than using a toothpick.

Personally, I'm waiting to hear more details/pricing on their Autocomb (used by the winner of the World Barista Championships, from Axil). Not that I think it will provide better results - just for the fun of using it, really.

Just to be clear: I'd rather buy this for $21 than a cheaper one on Aliexpress - but ultimately my recommendation is to buy accupuncture needles / 3D printer nozzle cleaning needles and make your own WDT tool.

  • Is this still suitable, even when preparing quality coffees (i.e. like Blend 43, and International Roast)?

    • Definitley suitable for poking yourself, to test if you still feel.

Jokes on you. he has no tongue to poke

  • The one https://www.amazon.com.au/Dolity-Distributor-Espresso-Stirri… is the best and cheap $13, you want something with thin acupuncture needles.

The curved hook ones and thick needles aren't reccomended.

True ozbargain strategy is using a cork, put some holes in it and stick acupuncture needles in!
