(FREE) $40 Cash Back Offer When Buying Abbott FreeStyle Blood Glucose Meters, Meter Costs $40

20

Hello fellow ozbargainers, long time lurker, first time posting the deal.

Just bought this for my parent, I saw the ad when walking in front of Discount Drug Store Vic Park WA.

The cost of the meter is discounted to $40, and receive $40 cash back offer, which means it's free (assuming the cheque is successfully delivered to the mailbox =) ) - takes up to 4 weeks to arrive.

Only requires tiny blood sample, all necessary equipments are provided inside the box. 10 strips are provided.

The promotion has been going on for quite sometime, and will expire 31st December 2012

Actually… it costs $0.60 as I have to buy the stamp for sending back the post card. =)))

Edit: I tried to use media file uploader, but the image is still not coming up, help?

Link doesn't work, no order website.

    • It's in store only, you can check on the website for store locations

  • Its available at most stores that stock this product !

  • Do you need to pay a fortune for test strips like other meters on the market?

    • In the box it has 10 strips.
I asked the pharmacist, it sells about $58 for 100 strips, but using Medicare, you can get rebate, not sure how much though.
At least you can get 10 tests before deciding to buy more strips.

      • So looks like a similar deal as to other meters. Still, can't beat a free meter! I don't think you get a rebate from Medicare but instead from the diabetes society if you are a member.

        • Freestyle Lite is kinda plasticky and I don't really like the shape of the strip, but no coding and amount of blood needed is really quite small.

The strips are all priced roughly similarly. >.> Price may vary, though, for the lancets for your lancing device, which are not subsidised. (The needle to poke your finger with.) But you CAN get a Medicare rebate for strips if your doctor writes you a script.

Copy pasta from the last time this was raised, for a pack of 100 strips -

Buy over the counter: (Chemist Warehouse, just a reference) $52.69
          General patient with script: $35.40
          General patient (NDSS): $15.20

Concession (health care card etc) with script: $5.80
          Health care card (NDSS): $2.40
          Pension/DVA (NDSS): $1.20

The National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS) is free to join for people diagnosed with diabetes who have a Medicare card. More info on NDSS here - http://www.ndss.com.au/en/Register/

NDSS items (including these strips) are also covered under the safety net, so if your family spends more than $1363.30 on Medicare prescriptions in a year (general), or more than $348 (60 scripts, with concession card), the price goes down.

This is pretty common. These deals always occur, because the money is made on the strips not on the meter itself.

  • There was a similar deal a couple of days ago, with similar comments about these using the "printer" pricing model of sell the hardware cheap and make money on the consumables.

I can't say having an Abbott checking my blood-sugar levels is really something I want to consider too deeply.

    • Couldn't be worse than an Emerson

  • Got one pharmacy did NOT have rebate form can this be done online or does someone have scan of form ?

    Take,
    Jak Dac
