BlackVue 2 DR900X-2CH-32-PLUS Dash Cam 4K 32GB SD - $663.20 (Was $829) + $12 Delivery ($4.95 Ignition / $0 C&C/in-Store) @ Repco

100

Been monitoring this for a while, and looks like the price has gone back to the discount from earlier this year. I haven't seen it go lower than this, so pretty good for a higher end dashcam.

This is also the smallest SD version, so grab a better SD card afterwards.
Suggestions:

  • SanDisk Extreme® PRO microSDXC
  • Samsung Endurance

Dash cams have no right being that expensive, holy moly

    • -3

Agree - they use the same sensors - check on youtube. Beyond that its branding and software.
I bought my second 70mai a couple of days ago.

  • +7

Remember to grab the smallest SD card package, and then pop it in a drawer and grab a Samsung Endurance card, which works perfectly with this brand.

    • +1

100% This is the smallest SD they're offering! Samsung or a SanDisk Extreme PRO microSDXC.

  • I bought a $200~ Viofo a129 duo plus off amazon and hard wired it a few months ago. it has been such a headache with how unreliable it is and how frequently it shuts down. Anyone have experience with this model? its a lot more expensive but its worth it if it actually works like its meant to

    • Lol, try more expensive ones like this and see what headache that might bring you. Got blackvue 750s whileback and never again for blackvue, shitty video quality and always shut down without notifications, so sensitive on memory cards also… oh man, never again

      • +2

I agree. I've commented on here how difficult the 750s (2ch) is to connect and howany times it drops out and how unreliable the connection is. For what is supposed to be a premium dashcam and with a hefty price tag….

I'm surprised new cars now, done have dash cams built in. They already have the 360 cameras, why not make them dash cam storage as well.

      • +1

I've had the 750s (2ch) for 4 years - never missed a beat. Paid the extra $50 for installation, which was well worth it. As OP mentions, stick with the Samsung cards & all is good. SanDisk just do not work in these it seems.

      • My 750s shuts down when you use a bad SD card like sandisk endurance. Doesn't happen with Samsung Pro Endurance cards or blackview own card. 2 Sandisk cards didn't even last 6 months before it had issues and caused the dashcam to keep shut down and restarting.

    Thanks OP, ordered one.

Bare in mind however fps is probably more important than 4k so you might be better off getting a dr750x for 60fps than 4k at 30 fps

This Vs U1000 Thinkware. I got U1000 thinkware dashcam from Autobarn for $499. Plus grabbed a Samsung Pro Endurance (256 gb) from Amazon for $53+.

    • +2

The rear facing camera on the U1000 is also significantly better - 5MP vs 2.1MP.

    • Hows the reliability on that? was also considering grabbing that

      • +1

From what I've read, the U1000 is a reliable unit. Just make sure you pair it with an appropriate microSD card and you shouldn't have any dramas. I had a Thinkware F770 before my current Blackvue and after six years, it's still going.

    • Oh snap! Not behd!

  • Thanks Op, was searching last night and could only get low $700s. I have never heard about the SD card trick but will give it a go

    • +1

Not much of a trick. Just purchase the one with the smallest SD card as there's such a huge premium with a larger SD card that would come with the Dashcam. As aftermarket ones are cheaper!

      Check out this link

      • Thanks mate much appreciated

  • Same price at autobarn and also supercheap auto will price match to this as well.

  • I am torn with dashcams. The heart says "want" but the head says "is this really good for anything except uploading videos to youtube".

    • +3

It's more so for insurance claims. I got hit and run a while back (parked), so need to protect myself from such behaviour.

      • +1

this. people are dishonest if they think they can get away with it. also they behave differently when they realise there's a camera recording them

  • Does Repco do installation?
I am tempted to do myself but then… i am afraid if anything i could do wrong..

      • Any additional charges…?
never had an experience with them

        • +1

Yes, but have to call the store as prices vary. I was quoted $150 years ago. Someone above said they paid additional $50 but i don't know where that was from and that seems very cheap. Strathfield car radios and mobile installers wanted $200-250 to install a supplied camera

          • @8azinga: Thanks, and i just called my local Autobarn.
            $200 - $250 depending on vehicle type.

Not sure if i should do it myself instead.

            • @CyrusL: If you are worried about doing something wrong, then its probably best to get someone else to do it but it isn't too hard. if you find an online video of installation in your exact same car, then you could just follow that. Although just be aware not all videos are done the best way. Finding the right fuses to tap and where to put the ground wire is probably the most technical part.

  • Anybody know of deals going on larger SD cards for these?
