20% off The Restaurant Choice Gift Cards @ The Restaurant Choice

180
RCBLACK20

Got an email about the black friday special.

20% off all restaurant choice gift cards including digital ones.

Not as good as the previous 100 for 60 deal but still good enough.

Some Ozbargainers reported that they were able to use the digital card via apple/google pay at non listed food retailers as well. YMMV.

This is part of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals for 2022

I got the 100 for 60. Seems to work at any food retailer

    • when did they last do that deal?

  • Which one is better digital or card?
Its for digital only the 20% off

It's for everything. I found the digital easier as you can add it to your phone wallets.

Anyone have any good places to go to use up those last few dollars balance from each card once you've used up at the main places you want to visit?

you can also try telling the restaurant you have a fixed amount left on that card, and for them to use that and you pay the rest with another method. They won't count that as bill splitting that way.

  • when does this deal end, there is nothing showing on the website

  • I purchased a $100 digital and have added to google wallet, will see if this works as others have said. I would have bought a $300 as well (actually wish they had larger denominations, as I prob need at least $500), but don't want to take the chance that it won't work at the restaurant I want to use it at next month.

Tempted to buy more but I'm afraid they'll update the terms of use and make it only acceptable at the listed restaurants.

  • Just be aware when buying these that you might be charged cash advance fees if paid via credit card. I found out the hard way… prob over $12 in fees i didn't know i would have to pay, plus i had to pay off the cost of the cards straight away anyway, otherwise I'd be paying interest on the "cash advance". FIrst time a gift card purchase has been classed this way, but it can happen, apparently. Lesson learned.

    • edit. Rang Bankwest today and they have refunded the $4.80 and now not classed it as cash advance, the other two didn't trigger, as I used the cc details direct, whereas the first one was paid via Paypal. Phew, thought I was going to be paying for cash advance fees for the whole lot, but I have already paid the cc anyway to more than cover the cost of the cards to make sure.

Their website now says dine anywhere, and it apparently works in bars too but I haven’t tried yet

“Dine anywhere! Simply present your gift card at the time of payment and the amount will be deducted from the bill. Use at thousands of restaurants, bars, cafés & fast-food establishments that accept EFTPOS or Visa cards around Australia.”
